Hi everyone,

I've noticed that many are having issues with their blogs - which the Admin is working on diligently. But the recent upgrades and this turn of events is what prompted this post and it's something to take heed to for future reference.

A friend of mine shared with me that it's a really good idea to first type up your blog entry into something like Microsoft Word (of course SAVE it to your hard drive) and then copy and paste into your blog.

This way you always have a back-up in the event that the forum should ever crash or anything else happen and things get lost.

Same thing with posts that you put a lot of thought, time and energy into posting. Don't assume that posting it here is enough...things happen...ANYTHING can happen so have a saved copy stored on your hard drive!

We will be posting an update on the issue with the missing blog posts later today or tomorrow.

From what we can tell, most blogs imported fine. Unfortunately a few blogs were not so lucky. Your blog posts are not lost and we will be working with each blogger to show them how to access their old posts. Accessing them is the easy part - getting them onto the new system is the hard part - unless you copy and paste each blog post.

The forum developers are working with us on this, but it might be something that is not possible to do. We will keep you all updated on progress.

Once again this issue is pretty much a one time thing. The blog system was put in place a long time ago and is no longer supported. We have moved to a stable blog system that is supported by the forum developers and fully integrates into the forum. It will also have a lot of new features in the future (with upgrades that don't lose blogs). One feature that is coming up is Shared Blogs - you will be able to invite other people to Blog in your Blog.

Oh I'm sure it's gonna be great and we really appreciate all you're doing.

But I still hold to and believe that folks should keep a back up copy... just in case...even if they don't have to be concerned about another forum upgrade thing - I mean, what if one day (goodness forbid) Alissa decides, "Ya know...I'm tired of hosting this forum so I'm closing it down!"

My post is no reflection on you guys or the blogging platform or anything like that...I'd say it about ANY blogging system be it blogspot.com or what have you. Just a good idea to do if people are really adamant about what they write and wanting to make sure they have that "just in case" spare 'cause again, stuff happens!

But I have noticed some really neat changes such as the ability to form little social groups and invite friends and all that aside from the new blogs!

Change IS good!
