Hey....

Has anyone out there acutally CURED their Allergy to NUTS being RAW??? I'm asking because my son, who is 10 years old, is allergic to Nuts and a lot of the receipes calls for nuts and so he can't eat a lot of what I make.

If so, how long did it take for you to be able to stand eating NUTS, once you went RAW???

Thankfully, Alissa does have "sweets" that don't call for nuts (He LOVES Alissa's Apple Pie made with Sunflower Seeds...)... THANKS ALISSA!!!

Hey ADMIN or MOD'S: If this needs to be in the "Raising Raw Kid's Section, please feel free to move it!!! :) .... Thanks!

You could probably sub sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds for any nuts in a recipe and have it be okay.
I personally don't know anyone who's cured a nut allergy through raw.
Best of luck!

Hi there,

I have heard of lot of people loosing all kinds of allergies after they went raw, even to dogs and cats, so it is very possible. I think that it may take awhile for the body to heal to that point though.

Seeds are a great substitute. You might also want to try hemp seeds. They are sweet and nutty tasting and delicious, especially on salads.

Blessings,

If you want a pie crust, use coconut meat if this available in your area. Just make a raisin jelly with cinamon, ground your coconut and blend everything together. You can dehydrate it or just leave it that way.

If your son do ok with seed, sunflower seeds are pumpkin seeds are great. I like to add chia seed in my smoothies or hemp seeds (very rich). Your surely can do wonderful in raw without nuts. I personally try to avoid the nut, i have no allergie, but they give me pimple. I still enjoy them, but i eat in moderation. My husband do very well with nut, everyone is different.

Best wishes with your son!

good question. I have a son transitioning to raw, but he's allergic to oranges and dried fruits. Dried fruits are the easiest things to transport in lunch boxes-(don't get bruised and don't need refrigeration). What he really has is a mold allergy, so my guess is that nuts will make him feel lousy too....

I like the suggestion of hemp seeds. And yes-pumpkin seeds are DELICIOUS and very good for the prostate. I prefer pumpkin seeds to sunflower seeds.

Just wanted to let everyone know how my son Dylan is doing....

He's 10 years old and is transitioning to 100% RAW with me.. Well, he had been substituting Sunflower and Pumkin Seeds for the Nuts and it was worked out WONDERFULLY!!!

I actually realized that, because he can have Almond Milk, he can handle eating Almonds in limited amounts, which is a GREAT thing!!! :)

But, any other nut makes his throat close up and makes him break out into hives, so we have to be careful.

Interestingly, he had a taste for some regular pasta the other day and tried a bite and spit it out and said to me, "Mom, this is disgusting!!! How did I EVER eat this before I ate RAW!!! YUKKKK!!!!"

I was THRILLED that he had that reaction because I'm hoping it will remind him of how DELICIOUS RAW meal are and keep him RAW with me!!! :) I know...a TOTALLY HIDDEN AGENDA!!!! :D
