I told one of my friends how make GS. She has them daily now and loves them.

Her stepfather is in liver failure and feels really sick most of the time. She taught her mom how to make GSs for him and he now drinks two a day and says they help him feel better!!! Most days he now feels well enough to get up out of bed. The miracle of nutrition........

I have been having one fruity green smoothie per day for the last six months and I just added in a savory smoothie to my evening meal...after a few days of this I started feeling exponentially better...hooray for green smoothies :D

Coconut cutie -- What a good idea! So you do a sweet one in the AM and a savory in the PM? I might have to give that a whirl! :)

Raw,
Can I have a teaser of the GS the man has daily? I'm due to bump up my GS drink as it is yuck and I am doing the GS challenge. I'm on day 2, but "feasting" only at this point so got a few days to go. All help appreciated.

Everyone is welcome to jump right in.

Love those testimonies.

Aleesha, maybe time for a GS Testimony thread started.

Yep, in the morning for breakfast I have my greens/fruit smoothie, and then about an hour before dinner I have a savory smoothie with greens, fresh carrot juice, lime juice, and some raw live sauerkraut. It works well for me this way....if I had fruit in a smoothie before dinner I would have digestive issues but having the savory smoothie at this time works really well!

carolg, here's basically what his GS has:

a bit of water, three handfuls of baby spinach, a handful of another type of green (kale, chard, etc), blend well, then add a banana or two, a cup of frozen blueberries and a cup of another kind of frozen fruit

Best wishes!

Do you actually juice your carrots and limes or do you put them whole into the blender? I asked a couple of weeks ago for some good savory smoothie recipes and I didn't get much response (although I haven't looked lately). Anyway, I'm finding I'm having a little trouble with too many fruits in my GS and would like to make a savory one. I tried one a couple of weeks ago and it was so horrible that I had to throw it out and I really hate doing that. I remember I had a cucumber in there as well as a red bell pepper and spinach and it was really bad. So, I'm trying to find some combos that people have actually tried and found good. I have a Vita Mix and no juicer, so I would need to throw things in whole.

I do first juice the carrots (usually 3 or 4) and then put the juice in the blender. If you have a vita-mix (I don't) you could definitely throw in the carrots whole. I would hand-squeeze the limes though so that you are only getting the juice. My basic recipe is 3 or 4 juiced carrots, the juice of 1 lime, a few swiss chard leaves, a handful of clover sprouts, a few leaves of red or green leaf lettuce, a cucumber (chopped into a few pieces before adding), 3 stalks of celery (also chopped into smaller pieces), and a forkful or two of raw sauerkraut or raw kim-chi (both produced locally, but the Rejuvenative Foods products would probably work too). I really like adding the sauerkraut or kim-chi because it gives it a nice flavor and also gives me a hefty dose of probiotics at the same time. And, I find it more digestible when blended. All of these items can be adjusted for taste, of course.

Tomatoes could probably be added, but they make me break out around my mouth so I am avoiding them for now.
