Well, I've been off and on raw for the past several years and I must say each time I go back to eating raw my way of being raw differs. Now all I want is fruit and greens. I tried several times to make a more complex dish and each time I couldn't eat it. I have so many vegetables in my garden but I don't want any of them(I dislike wasting, so I give everything away).
The main problem that I find is around the middle of the day I want something 'heavier' but when I try to eat it I start gagging before it even touches my lips.
I understand that my body is now craving things that it needs, so that is fine with me. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Most people do find that they go through stages of what the raw foods that they crave. Many people find that the longer they are, the more simpler they want to eat. It happened to me. I just kept on feeling better and better the simpler I ate. Be content with your fruit and greens! They are great for you.

Blessings,

Audrey

I agree you do go through stages. When I first started raw I was really into the more processed and dehydrated raw meals. Now I prefer simpler foods more. I feel like I am just craving what my body needs.:)

oooo I so agree!! I think it's a natural progression as our bodies change - and if we are paying attention - our bodies WILL ask us for what it needs. Like so many others - my eating has also changed. (and actually I am quite happy about it!)

When I first went raw - I needed heavier foods - I guess to help me thru as I transitioned to this LIFEstyle. Having more gourmet nut dishes helped me feel like I was 'actually eating' something "NORMAL" heheheheeee! :D

As time went on I realized that what was once 'normal' for me - may not necessarily be what I wanted now...

I love wraps too... quick fast and delicious - and I can change them up - although I do have my favorites!

I do have (occassionally) some heavier gourmet dishes - but now it's more like once a month - or once every other month - whereas when I first went raw - I had these heavier meals several times a week!
Now I love simple! I love salads and sliced veggies, avos and coconuts! YUMMMMM!!!

I have had the same experience as everyone else. When I find I want something heavier in the afternoon, I have a banana, date, carob, and almond milk shake. They seem to hit the spot. Sometimes I'll make a "banana" vanilla ice cream with a little fudge sauce. I guess you can tell the SAD items I would turn to in the afternoon. That is always my hungriest time of day.

I think this is the key, the gift of raw foods! I was so addicted and out of balance before raw that I couldn't hear what my body was telling me. Now I know that if I want something, I probably need it. I rarely make heavy raw dishes anymore. I like my foods less mixed up than I used to. I work with kids and I often see them wanting to eat only one at a time or only one food at a meal. We work so hard to change these natural tendencies and then we have to relearn then later!
