"International award-winning filmmaker Kevin P. Miller of Well TV announced the release of a new documentary about the threat to medical freedom of choice. ‘We Become Silent: The Last Days of Health Freedom’ details the ongoing attempts by multinational pharmaceutical interests and giant food companies in concert with the WTO, the WHO and others to limit the publics access to herbs, vitamins and other therapies"

It's only half an hour- great stuff! watch it guys;)

I believe Codex passed in 2005, but I haven't kept up with it. I know I send vitamin D and B-12 to one of my sisters in Germany, because she can't get it there in sufficient dosage. The problem in this country (and not just here) is complacency of the people vs. the change from democracy to corporatocracy. As long as we are doing so well (have a car, TV, cellphone, nice grill in the backyard, and enough propaganda that claims that nobody else in the world has it as good as we do), the complacency wins out and people don't even want to hear about how democracy (and their rights) are being and have been replaced with corporatocracy (and the rights of corporations). That's why the food industry gets to make you ill and the medical and pharmaceutical industries get to cut, burn, poison, and slowly kill you.
Thanks for posting the link. I didn't know about this source for documentaries. Who needs TV:D

you're welcome!

I KNOW! who does need TV! i get all my information from trusted internet sources now actually.. i do NOT even turn TV on - especially after i witnessed how much the news channels are lying in this country (during the Russia-Georgia conflict.... i KNEW what was really going on because my family has friends in Georgia... the American news channels were twisting the truth and disinforming people.. i have'nt watched mainstream news from then on)

where does everyone usually get their vitamins? i think the ones you can find at commercial stores are probably not good, right?

I get mine from all the fruits and vegetables that I eat. If you stick to those and eat them raw, there is no way you need extra vitamins. They work best in their original packaging. Scientists know about individual components of foods, but isolating them doesn't do much good. I truly believe that it requires the whole package. Everything is in the piece of food to digest it and get every bit of nutrition out of it, as long as you eat it ripe and whole.

i truly agree. the way i try to fill myself with vitamins for the year during the summer is - i eat local, hopefully organic, and of course raw

There's just so much to be aware of with produce grown somewhere else- was their water poisoned by pelchlorate? was the soil rich? was the food grown with love :)

After watching the above documentary, I checked out the site a little more and came up with this, which I just watched in its entirety. I knew a lot of the individual things covered in it, but never realized the connections that exist.

It's 1-1/2 hours long, but well worth it.

How can vitamin mineral supplements be healthy? They are synthetic and man made in a factory. How can a body use those?

Actually, there are lot of natural supplements, including food based supplements. Google either of those two.

Yeh, but even those are man made. Why not simply eat the raw food instead?

If you are in a state of clinical or subclinical malnutrition to the point that your cognitive function is being impaired supplementation can be very helpful to level the playing field after which you can rely on a nutrient dense diet.

We all have our own paths to walk, but I would never want someone suffering to continue to do so while their journey to raw replenished their body. Supplementing with high quality nutrients that are recognized by the body, while not ideal is preferable as far as I'm concerned to living in the discomfort malnutrition causes. Always do what feels right, but there are many times supplementation feels right to me.

In cases where there is intestinal damage the body needs large amounts of nutrients to meet it's basic needs. In the later stages of celiac, crohn's and UC for instance repair and restoration will happen much quicker with supplementation.

I would definitely look at iron (can be found in concentrated sources from plants like in Floridex), zinc, magnesium, B vitamins (Biotin and B-12 most definitely) and possibly L glutamine. If there are any mental alterations I would be looking further. Severe depression is nothing to mess with and since all the neurotransmitters are formulated in the gut....well that shouldn't be ignored. A damaged gut cannot produce them in adequate amounts. I have no problem supplementing amino acids until the gut is healed enough to resume production on it's own.

are there certain brands you prefer?

i'm still on/off RAW. when i'm 100% RAW, i want to see how my body is. if i feel that maybe i could feel better, i might try supplementing. would love the info. for future reference. :o
