Not if you're a RAW woman. ;)

I know lots of women who have amazingly healthy children AND they are doing fine having children at age 35-45... also, I've heard from an OBGYN and from an RN friend that having children in your older years actually lengthens YOUR life because certain hormones kick in and act like a "fountain of youth"...

I'm in the same optimistic boat. I'm 36 and wanting to conceive. I've never been pregnant and scared to get my hopes up. But I'm building my faith up with raw foods and my personal spiritual practices. I'll pray for you too!

I had my twins when I was 39! Guess that wasn't too old. And the woman who is John McCain's running mate for Vice President, Sarah Palin has a 4 month old and she is 44!

I had my daughter at 39. Keep in mind that if you are 35 or older you will be considered a high risk pregnancy and will be going to the Dr. more often than a younger woman would. You will be given more testing. You are more likely to have gestational diabetes. They will want an amniocentesis and perhaps genetic counseling/testing. You will probably have more ultrasounds and non-stress tests.

I had my first child at age 35 and I had a set of twins at age 37!! I a 50 now. I certainly do not believe at all that 35 is too old to conceive a child!!:D

meh, i wasn't raw at the time (a perfect pregnancy and birth, i never once saw a doctor or midwife for any of it). i think it might help if you are having issues but so long as you are active and healthy and have a good attitude about it, 35 is definately not too old.

35 too old to conceive? No way....conceive away. :D My sister had her baby in her mid 30's and he's healthy and strong. And you're probably in 150% better condition as a raw foodist; your experience will probably be way above the norm. Best wishes.

Yeah, well she's shooting at animals from an airplane. She's eating a hunter's diet that's going to age DNA and not rejuvenate it like all of the chlorophyll from a raw vegan diet.

If I could have more I would love too, but way to old, being AARP generation, over 50+. However miracles are possible.

I would say 35 is still young enough to enjoy our child so have as many as you can justify caring for. Keep us posted! We are "family."

But look at Palin's lifestyle and diet. I'm sure more scientific studies would help, but I would guess that a raw foodist would be in a different category in terms of conceiving in their 40's & 50's. Just a wild guess. :) Somewhat off subject, down syndrome babies/children/people have a gift to share with us if you look closely. They're close to their spirit , truthful and generally joyful people & beings. Just how you look at the whole picture I guess.

Ha, laughing at this visual. Although it's not funny because she's too close to being in charge.

Don't forget to vote!

I just love your perspective.

I'm starting to get baby fever (and I love kids, but I don't know where I caught it!). My husband and I have been talking about whether or not I want to accomplish x y and z before having a kid. I am finally thinking (partially sparked by Palin), geez, why do I have to conquer the world, then have children?! Can't kids be part of the mix that adds up to the way I live my life?

Then, it dawned on me, I am open to others making their own decisions, but I am 100% certain that I would be unable to have an abortion under any circumstances. And I would have to look at any baby as being a joy and a gift and a life. But, I wonder if I were to have a baby born with a disability or disease, how would this affect me? Would I be strong and kind-hearted enough to be joyful about the change in my life? I don't know that for sure. All I can do is hope.

RAWCA -- I am 26 but my husband is nearly 10 years older and I am thinking NOW or SOON is the time to start having children because he is NOT a raw foodist. I don't know how he's going to age. But me? I can't be sure but have very good reason to believe I'm going to be healthy and able to conceive healthy children WAY after 35 because of the way I live and eat.

Just my thoughts. I don't know about your state of health but do know that raw food is a big help! And 35 is not even close to the end of the days when women can conceive healthy babies.

Didn't Nancy Grace have twins at the age of 48? I don't recall hearing she had in-vitro or fertility drugs - I think it was natural.

I've never once heard a biological clock tick. I think my mom warped me because she started telling me about the horrors of childbirth when I was 5. Her logic was that since she was 15 when I was born, I wouldn't be a teen mother.

Well....dayum, I think that worked because my teen years were so bloody long ago! LOL! Besides, where the heck would I put a car seat on a Harley?

But like you, should it happen, I'd have to see it through just because I adore my boyfriend of 13 years so much and he's such an incredible dad to his two teenage boys. And he's the oldest of 5 kids so he knows all about that "birthin' babies" stuff that I don't know jack about.

Ha! Well -- as for the car seat on a Harley, I'm not sure. But, my father passed away when I was three and the only memory I have of him was the day he brought me on his motorcycle. LOL! So -- I'm not sure about all the logistics of how that worked. But, I guess in many cases -- kids can be along for the ride. (Don't anyone freak out. I'm not suggesting Raine start strapping infants to her motorcycle!)

Oh yeah.....my dad took me out on his choppers as well as a toddler.

Even though logistically a milk crate could easily be strapped to a motorcycle's luggage rack to haul fresh produce, I guess it could also multi-task as a baby carrier!

I'm glad you asked this question. I'm 30 and my clock is TICKIN'.

I'm reassured though, that if I'm raw for a while, I can wait for quite a while without worrying. :)

I had my twins when I was 39!

I had my first child at age 35 and I had a set of twins at age 37!!

I found out recently that the older you are when you have a baby, the more likely the chances are that you will have twins or multiple children! isn't that wild? I'm hoping that happens for me!

Eva, I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I'm 32 and my husband is 40 so we really need to get a move on with the baby thing.. not only that, but in the past 6 months I have gotten baby fever bad!!! I am constantly reading up on anything having to do with babies, labor, parenting, etc! My husband and I have decided to start trying next March/April!!! I'm so excited! Sometimes I'm worried that I haven't done everything I want to in this world (travel basically) but then I think.. heck, why can't I travel with my kids?!? If anything taking my children around the world will leave a huge impact on them and only make them better people!

good luck to you and your husband!

and by the way.. to answer the original post.. no way is 35 too old! get out there and make a baby!! :p:cool:

Personal Opinion Ahead, don't take my head off for not aligning with your thoughts.

well, i wouldn't be waiting on purpose or anything. your eggs and chances for conception are better younger, it's just that being in shape makes the actual pregnancy easier on your body. i am not in the least convinced that raw can help you conceive, raw is just a diet, it's not a miracle that can change your ovaries and uterus, just your overall condition.
children take a LOT of energy, let me tell you. my first was a whole lot easier on me than my second, i lost the weight faster, i got back in shape faster, i had way more juice to chase him around and deal with stuff. it IS harder as you age, that's just nature. waiting on purpose i think is taking your chances. if you Really want to have kids the best time physically is in your 20's. it's still totally doable for those in their 30's and even for a very few in their 40's but that's hard on your body and really, the saying 'late baby early orphan' comes to mind. i personally wouldn't rely on a raw diet to prolong my life so my kids could have me for longer. and yes i know anyone can get hit by a bus at any time yadda yadda but I Personally wouldn't want to have a baby too late. my folks had me young and are in their 60's now, hopefully i will have them around for the next 20 years until i am in my 50's and my kids are in their 20's. fingers crossed. if they had had me at the end of their 30's they would be pretty darn old right now if they were still around. that's not bad, it's just not ideal.

Are there any herbs that help with this sort of thing? Or supplements?

I would love that! They run in my family... but I'm sure not waiting either. I want to conceive in the next year or so.

We're talking about the same time! I'm in Hungary until December, then we're talking about getting settled in Brazil by around that time and working on it. Boy, it will be strange to stop thinking of condoms and ovulation, etc.! And YES, you CAN travel with your kids! My stepkids have traveled plenty and are all the better for it. Same for me, I traveled a lot and feel like I was as lucky as can be. I even was in Hungary when I was 1 and 4! Anyways, if you have the right attitude and plan for it, kids should add to life not make you feel like you're not living it! :)
