I made my first raw dessert today: apple pie with an orange/date syrup and a date/almond crust. It was fun to make, and so amazingly delicious that I promptly scarfed down a third of it. Ugh...I feel overfull and heavy right now!

Then I started feeling a bit worried that I had just ingested a billion calories. I try not to fret too much about calories...but c'mon, there was an entire cup of almonds in the crust! So I plugged in the info for the entire pie on fitday.

Here's the verdict:
1868 calories
33% fat, 60% carbs, 7% protein
54.9 grams of fibre

If I ate the entire thing throughout the day (not that I'm planning on it, but still...), I'd get exactly the right number of calories, the right fat/carb/protein ratio AND more than enough fibre.

Wow. Raw desserts are my new best friend.

Not that I'm going to stuff my face with them on a daily basis, but what an easy way to make it through those tough days when I just really want to eat something heavy!

Raw desserts are soooo satisfying. I am amazed at how little I need verses other desserts. I stressed about all the calories at first, too. But then I realized the ingredients are all healthy and actually nourishing my body. Fabulous!

I am the same way, I eat much less raw than SAD desserts.

I have a big sweet tooth and two of Alissa's fudge balls at a time are about all I need to feel satisfied. When eating SAD, I can devour 2/3 of a package of oreos and still feel like I need to eat something else. Thank goodness I found raw food.

These are exactly what I turn to on rough days too. I know they are raw...even if heavy in nuts or whatever...but they hold me and keep me on track. I'm so thankful for all the perks of being raw. ;)
