Anyone doing this? My hubby has decided to join it again. This will be his third green smoothie feast this year. 20 days was his first, then 14 and now another 14.

So... anyone else doing it?

I'm sort of in. Followed your link and signed up for the challenge of one green smoothie a day for 14 days. Now I see you meant a GS fast. I'm not quite ready for that, might try it for a day now and then. Technically, I'm out, but I still want to play. Thanks for the inspiration. Looking forward to seeing lots of new ideas for green smoothies.

Aleesha, does that mean that you are ending your juice fast and changing over to a green smoothie fast? Can that still be considered a fast? Can you tell that I'm a smoothie addict who wants to convince herself that it's ok to follow her addiction? But then I'm also a bread addict (have some drying right now for use in October:( ), a zucchini pasta & marinara addict, a jalapeno burger addict......:o I must fast, I must fast, I must fast....:D

I'm going to continue with my juice fast but I'll be watching with interest to get tips for when I'm done fasting with the juice. I think a smoothie fast would be a nice transition into solids.

Thanks for posting the link Aleesha! :)

Thank you Aleesha for posting it. I went to the link and listened to the short presentation. Then I IMd the link to my daughter, who obviously is sitting at her computer in Germany:D . She has about 120 lbs. to lose and, as most daughters, doesn't really want to follow her mother's advise (she DOES hear it, though). I hope it's easy enough for her to actually want to do it. She eats lots of salads and buys everything organic. She just doesn't know yet from her own experience how wonderful raw makes you feel.

jenifae tru using less things in your smoothie its hard on your system when mix vegetables with so much fruit and cacao will keep you from sleeping if you take it too late. good luck ed

Aleesha,
Your timing is impeccable. My Vitamix just arrived and I just stocked up today after sigining up for the GS Challenge independent of seeing your post. It'll be fun to have some support. I've lost 40 pounds on raw foods, but just starting out on GS smoothies.

You are a doll!

you should all post your weight release at the end of the 14 days! i'll get my hubby to weigh himself when he gets up for work in a few hours!!!

Ha, I thought it started today...wasn't paying attention to the date. Today is my first day and I made my first gigantic green smoothie. I think it will last me all day. I can only manage a few sips at a time - very thick.

I made it with entire head of romaine lettuce, an apple, spirulina, half an avocado and about 2 cups of water. I will go back to my favorite greens: kale, chard and spinach though. I'm not really digging the romaine - I'm noticing the difference in flavor. I think I like my greens bitter now.

Enjoy your smoothies.

my hubby made one with organic baby spinach, pear, frozen bananas (2) and some frozen peaches. he also adds in a liquid msm, flax oil and chia seeds. :)

Started the challenge with a simple smoothie that I have up to now avoided. Made it small in case I didn't like it.

1 banana
8 romaine leaves
1 cup water

Tasted nice, but didn't seem to pack any power. Tanked it up a bit with:

2 T. hemp seeds
2 t. flax oil
1 scoop green powder
2 t. spirulina

Now that's GREEN!!! :D I'm ready to go!

I am so relieved after plunging into GS's to find that I LOVE them! I was concerned my tastebuds wouldn't find GS very satisfying. I try not to have attachments or labels - but I think I'm addicted to my Vita Mix (hooray-found refurbished for cheaper on vitamix site) and GS.

BTW, I finished David Wolfe's book and added "Today is the best day ever" to my morning intentions. My CEO called down for a report that was not due for another week and for some reason I went in early to start on it so it was ready. In the afternoon, I received flowers from a colleague that was a bit of jerk to me last week.

Green smoothies + meditation + yoga + compassion= THE BEST DAY EVER!!

Thanks for your dynamo leadership and helping me discover YUMMY GS's. I hope next time I'm in Canada I can meet you. I'm a Reiki Master as well. I need to release about 140 pounds so stick with me because I know this is my time to do this.

Very cool... I hope we can meet up sometime. Hey I released that in a year... you can release yours (in your own time of course)... but GS are a huge part of it. So... go for it!!! I'm here cheering you on!!!

When's the start date? Haven't signed up yet, but need to hit the store before I jump in for the 14 days. So from what I read, a meal is enough or are you all doing it for meals or days of no food?

I surely can think about 14 days of smoothies for breakfast. I know it would be easy but I have to buy greens first. Get some fruit mixed in there too. I could use to give away and never take back 15ish pounds. I better get on the scale in the morning if I am planning on starting tomorrow or following day. I have not signed up yet.

Great idea to see what our weight is and how much we lose by the end of the 14th day if that is where we are having a weighing "station" weigh in.

Thanks Aleesha.

The start date was the 7th but hey... jump on in!!! The idea is to have nothing but green smoothies... nothing else.

But hey, make this whatever you want it to be. After all it's YOUR green smoothie feast.

Nice to see you here Carol!!! *waves like crazy*

Wow, now that would be a challenge just for me to live on GS for 14 days. My anniversary is around the corner, #40, so just doing the once a day or 2x day may work out better and just one meal per day. I think faithfully committing to once a day would be a great start. I'm still busy making pickles and sauerkraut. This is my excuse for eating at least once a day so that I can taste away ready or not. Regardless, 14 days I'm joining as of this minute! I'll sign up tomorrow, but count me in!

So Aleesha, you and hubby are not eating any food for the time of your GS feast?????????? Go GIRL!!!

Hi back with hugs and waves Aleesha!

Aleesha,
I am so PROUD of you. Give yourself a large hug! Waiting to see you on Oprah one of these days! Off to bed as I want to be chipper for the dentist and watch his face when I arrive back in the chair. My dental problems have been endless and blame it on genetics and not diet, but small degree. No kidding. It's been a life of being a great patient in the dentist's chair. Tomorrow raw food for them too. I'm always bringing in fresh raw stuff but tomorrow it may just be my raw dill pickles it's early in the AM for appointment. May bring in my hummus and tell them it's a dip for the pickles.

Off to bed.

Cleaned out refrigerator before dentist, and whipped up my GS. So today is my day 1. I probably can't get to scale till tomorrow AM, but my new body design is showing signs of favorable results.

Off to shower. Here was my AM meal I tasted...not sweet enough..

Kale, 1 apple, 1 banana, hemp seeds, water=yuck, but drinking it...think Aleesha mentioned she had problem losing more weight with bananas so going lean on banana here....that's what I am taking in now...

Gotta get dentist and staff ready for their raw foods today. They love my food but not changing their ways yet as they are growing wider for some of them:
raw hummus
homemade pickles....

Had my green smoothie for lunch today. 1/4 pineapple, 1 small banana, 2 kale leaves, 4 handfuls spinach, 1 1/2 cups water, frozen strawberries. Very nice. It was to much. Could only drink a quart, tried to save the last cup, but it thickened. Had to throw it out. Must have been the banana. For some reason I just didn't feel like adding any superfoods or supplements.

Already looking forward to another green smoothie tomorrow! :)

Hi, just thought I'd let you know my FAVORITE green smoothie. For the last couple of weeks I have 1 or 2 of these a day. I CAN"T STOP, then again, why should I? lol. Here goes:

5 oz. mixed baby greens
2 cups of coconut water
1/2 tsp. maca
1 tsp. Alissa's green powder
1 TBLS. gogi berries
1 TBLS. hemp seeds
1 tsp. bee pollen
1 tsp. carob
couple drops of stevia

sometimes if I make 2 at one time, I'll add 2 cups of coconut water and 2 cups water.

YUM YUM YUM.

GaryDeb your GS sounds yummy. I admire you folks who can put more than 3-5 ingredients in your smoothies. I can only tolerate 1-2 greens, some spirulina and an occasional banana or apple.

Today is Day 3 for me and I've actually switched it up to juicing. I had 32 oz of cucumber juice for breakfast and I'll have kale-ginger-celery juice for lunch. Maybe I'll have a GS for dinner, but my body is asking for lighter offerings today. :p I'm feeling really good with all of this great nutrition!

Have a great day all.

i'm on day 2 of the GS challenge "feast" and so far both days GS have been yucky. I posted at another link today, but need help getting more sweet stuff into the drink.

Today,

romaine
water
pear
apple
hemp seeds
sliver lemon (forgot to put that on other thread)
red bell pepper

Not tasty at all.

Trying to avoid bananas and just consummed my first one for the day and haven't desired food till I had my GS. It was just hectic day with Turbo class--first things first.

Thanks all.

I drink a green smoothie every morning for breakfast, but I actually don't like bananas in smoothies. (I prefer to eat my bananas in the form of ice cream, but I guess this isn't the board for that!)

This is my favourite green smoothie:

- a half cup each of frozen blueberries and frozen strawberries
- 1 whole peeled orange
- 2 handfuls of greens (spinach is my favourite, but I'll also do romaine or kale if that's what I have)
- juice from a key lime
- a heaping tablespoon of ground flax seed

I'm intrigued by the idea of eating only green smoothies for a little while. I'm just not sure how I would store it so that I could drink it throughout the day.

Green smoothie for lunch today...kept it simple, again. Two pears, handful of cilantro, 4 handfuls of spinach, 1 1/2 cups of water, 4 ice cubes. Made over a quart. Drank it all!

Also, just went to the Vitamix site (that's what I use) and they have a thing that if you sign up for their newsletter, they will give you a chart showing recipes for over 300 green smoothies. Might be worth it, I signed up.

I made a great GS just now as I feast with a daily GS, but not ready for the fasting yet. Committed to feast, as it is a party finding todays delish combo, for 14 days.

Am I really feasting or fasting doing the GS one meal daily for the challenge?

Delish GS:

Romaine
Soft yellow pear
Soft yellow apple
celery
water
hemp seeds
slice of Meyer lemon

It was really delish.

My husband thought he was doing me a favor and threw out from the counter fruit basket a yellow pear that felt a little soft to the touch. I had to rescue the "guy" from the trash and loved it in my smoothie. Great tasting smoothing today. I have to hit the grocery store for more veggies/fruits for tomorrows. Wouldn't mind doing more of this same one again.

Just finished a quart of the best smoothie I've had yet! It was a recipe from an email sent out by the 14-day GS Challenge website.

1/4 pineapple
1/2 a very large mango
1" ginger root
1/2 head romaine
1 1/2 cups water, 4 ice cubes

I will be enjoying this one often! :D
