For 2 years I've been wanting popsicle molds to make raw popsicles and today decided "I'm going to every store I can think of which may sell them until I find some", and at the 4th store, after walking right in front of them about 10 times without seeing them, I finally saw them the 11th time I went by, I was just about to ask someone.

It was $25 for 6 molds that make the kind of popsicle with 2 wooden sticks in them which you can snap in half, like the "old style" popsicles. They had 3 models, I chose this one because it was the one that looked like it made the biggest ones and most of you know I always want to get as many calories as I can.

I decided to make my chocolate milkshake recipe but in thicker (walnuts, water, cacao, agave, coconut oil, vanilla, salt, blended 'til smooth) and poured (ok, spooned it, it was too thick to pour) it into the molds. I should have fudgesicles in a few hours!

I'll also try making some with just blended banana but those will be low calorie. Does anyone else make popsicles and/or do you have ideas for popsicle recipes?

Thanks

I wonder how bananas/peaches and some coconut oil blended would set up in your new toy?

I can tell you my fruit "rollup" wrap is doing fabulous in dehydrator. Vegan not in favor of word leather as I'm not either so it's a wrap at the moment, but looking like a pancake. All so good too.

Keep us posted on your delish treat. Wish I was there to share. Sounds great. I would bring the RP brownies along. Her recipe you can look for here, search RP brownies recipe.

That is too cute. I admire your determination to find popsicle molds. I hope they turn out delish. If anyone else wants molds they sell them on Amazon.com.

I have tried putting coconut oil in smoothies and it never works. It just sticks to my magic bullet and doesn't blend in.

My daughter makes frozen pops with fruit juice and sometimes added berries.

I always put coconut oil in my smoothies and never had any problem.

No pictures??? :(

I make popsicles too. I have molds I got from Target and I've done pureed strawberries with agave, orange juice (both straight juice from a citrus juicer as well as the whole oil sans the skin blended), pineapple-orange, I've done fruit blends where I would blend pineapple, orange, strawberry, etc. in the vitamix and then strain through a nut milk bag. Sometimes I'll also do double flavors like pour one flavor into the mold about half-way or quarter of the way...freeze and then pour another flavor on top and freeze the rest of the way.

My kids are into that sour stuff so I often add lemon juice to make theirs nice and tart.

I've done fudgesicle.

I'd love to get a hold to molds like the ones you have, though!

Do you use frozen fruit?

Whenever Im making blueberry juice I always save some for popsicles. I just blend them in the vitamix, strain thru nut milk bag and pour into molds. I strain it because I hate the tiny seeds. Blueberry has a very rich flavor so the popsicles are really good.

I make raw popisicles all the time. So easy to do!

I have mold from IKEA. I have also seen them at Bed Bath and Beyond though too. I only have one set - I shoulda bought more.

I have made strawberry/cherry, orange/coconut (I used coconut milk I made myself), pineapple/coconut. I add agave to taste for all of these.

I have many other flavors in mind.

Raweater - please let us know how these come out. I've never made popsicles with anything other than 100% fruit juice. It's not that I don't love fruit juice pops, but a fudgsicle would be nice, too.

I'll post a picture soon. What do you mean by "whole oil sans the skin"?

I don't think I'd do double flavors, sounds like a lot of extra trouble and I'm all for speed/efficiency since I eat a lot and need to make things that are done as quickly as possible, after all since I eat so much I could simply make different flavored ones and eat one of each flavor. I also always want to pack in as much calories as I can in anything I make so fruit ones won't be too tempting lol, but I'll make some anyway.

Yes I use frozen fruit, but I think you mentioned you used the magic bullet, I doubt you'll get as good results as a real blender.

Would the seeds even be noticeable in a popsicle? Seeds often have the most nutrition and anti cancer properties. I sometimes make blueberry slush with frozen bluberries, ice, water, agave and salt and don't mind the seeds in the bottom.

They came out great but are so rich in fat that they were very fudgey and not icey if you know what I mean. I'll post a pic soon.

Well the last one I took out broke in half (half stayed stuck in the mold), I think I made them way too high in fat trying to put as many calories as possible (I think I've managed to put 2000+ calories in 6 popsicles!) so they didn't get quite hard enough.

Even though I still have 3 chocolate ones in the molds, I cleaned the 3 molds from the ones I've eaten so far and made 3 new different ones:
-Orange juice
-Orange juice and whole raspberries
-Blueberries, agave and a pinch of salt (mashed it in mortar and pestal since there was too little to do in the blender).

If my next chocolate one holds I'll take a pic, otherwise I'll wait for the fruit ones.

Maybe next time you could line them with saran wrap or something so they are easier to remove. I always have to run mine molds under water to loosen the pops from them.

You know the seeds from blueberries probably are the best part but for some reason tiny seeds irritate my throat. Maybe because I dont have tonsils, dunno  .Even strawberries, raspberris, blackberries blended irritate my throat if I dont strain them. Anyone else have this problem??? I love them anyway though. Oh yea, mango pops are good too.

I prefer to avoid having my food touch saran wrap as it's one of the plastics known to leach bpa into the food which has be proven to make food very toxic (up to 200 or more times the legal limit of carcinogens, and the legal limit is ridiculously high to start with, so imagine 200 times that). It was simply the high fat content as the low/no fat ones I made came out fine.
