My boyfriend told me today that he wants to try at least being a vegatarian. He is concerned he will lose weight if he eats raw vegan as he is already skinny. He is 6'1" and weighs 170 lbs. I know there are a few people on here trying to gain weight eating raw. What tips can I give him to help him gain weight and what foods should he stay away from? He is skinny but not healthy in my eyes. He eats a ton of sugar and drinks alot of coffee and he is a smoker! We workout twice a week at the gym and hike 3-5 times a week.

I made a jalepeno burgers last night with avocado fries and he LOOOOVED them! It was sooo easy to make to!

Thanks!!!

Kim

I read this and thought it said my boyfriend wants to eat BUTTER!
I smacked myself upside my head!
If you/he are worried about him losing weight - increase the (good) fats - avocados, nuts, coconut butter, etc.
He definitely needs to get off the sugar, coffee, and smoking!

Rawlinda he has been a work in progress! I have been trying to get him to eat better for a very long time. We are going to clean out our fridge and freezer this weekend. He said he doesn't think he can do it over night but he wants to cut out red meat first..yippeeee!!! He does say my raw dishes look good:D

Getting him off the smoking is going to be quite a challenge! We also like to drink wine. We have cut waaay back on that and I had a glass last night and it gave me a headache!

Kim, that's wonderful.

The guy I'm dating is raw and 6'1 and pretty slender. He mentioned to me that he lost a few pounds when he became raw, but his body has balanced out over the past 2-3 years as he has rebuilt it. Remember that you're shedding your old, ill, SAD body when you become raw. It may become alarming, especially to guys, if you have a fast metabolism and drop a lot of weight. But the rebuilding phase to create your raw body is your true body. In my opinion.

I'm going through this myself again. I'm dropping a lot of weight, but I know it's the marbled fat in my muscles that's being released. I have lost plenty of muscle weight the past couple of years recovering from breaking my leg, so it's making me look "skinny". As I rebuild my body and gain greater (raw) muscle, I trust my body will find balance. I don't like to look too thin, but if that's my "true body" well than I guess I'll just have to accept it. :o

I'm sure there are others who can more eloquently explain this, lol. I think Alissa covers this in her book and also Dr. Gabriel Cousens covers this in one of his books, but can't remember which one. I agree with checking out the fitness section or doing a google search.

I think it's fantastic that your man wants to get healthy! That's wonderful and the most important aspect of this.

Best wishes. :)
