Hi all. We just got our juicer and I have a few questions.

I know you aren't suppose to fast while nursing a baby who is totally or mostly dependent on breast milk as their main food source, but what about a toddler? My son is almost 3, he basically only nurses like 2-3 times a day max. I am not his main source of food anymore and we are working on gentle weaning. He mainly nurses for naps/bedtime and never for a long period of time.

So, my question is, has anyone here fasted with juice while nursing a toddler that doesn't use breast milk as a main food source? Should I just do mostly juices and some raw food instead until he weans? I just don't want to do anything that may harm him.

Thanks.

Violets - congratulations on your toddler and improving your health.

It would be ideal to have your child weaned before attempting to fast. The primary mission of a fast is to detox your body so by nursing you would pass on toxins to your child.

By slowly seguing into a more healthy diet, both you and your child will have a chance to become acclimated. Once your child is weaned, go full throttle with the fast.

My three year old is still nursing in the morning, at nap time and bed time, when reading books, and when needing comfort.
I am waiting until he weans to fast.

eating raw and juicing... and perhaps some nice green smoothies (for you both) is an excellent option till he weans... then fast. ;)

Hi,
I'm in the same boat, my daughter is 2 (just turned 2 last Thursday), and does not want to wean yet (weaned my other two at 29 and 30 months). I'm thinking of weaning her because I have severe anxiety/panic attacks and want to get well. Probably is best to wait as others have said due to the toxins being released.

Take care!
