I love them I even juice them and mix them with orange juice and I eat them raw. So the question is can you get vitamin A poisoning from eating/drinking them too much? I can't help it I love eating carrots my skin hasn't changed color yet. I am trying to research info about high intake of carrots if it's bad for you but I keep getting mixed information.
Any help on this subject?

A pound of carrots has 60,000 I.U. of Vitamin A. According to Dr. Haas in "Staying Healthy with Nutrition", if you are under a lot of stress or have vitamin A deficiency, it's ok to take in 50 - 100K I.U. a day for one to two weeks or more, but you should not do so indefinitely. The only side effect may be an orange tinge to your skin. I think that it's probably unlikely to get into the toxic range from actual food, as long as you do not take additional vitamin A in supplement form. I know that cancer patients on the Gerson therapy drink a whole lot of carrot juice every day for 2 years. So I'd say, drink up!:D

My understanding is that it is only a problem in supplement form, not in the food form. There has been times where I was drinking 8-16 oz. (=1-2lbs carrots) carrot juice for a year or more straight almost every day - It does wonders for us!

The vitamin A is carrots is actually in the form of beta carotene which your body converts to vitamin A. Your body will convert what it needs and dump the rest, sort of like vitamin C. The only side effect I know of is some people turn orange and their palms get a little thicker. It is gret for the eye signt. :)
Sometimes I crave stuff LIKE CRAZY and eat it ALL THE TIME. Then it just doesn't taste good any more or seem appealing for a while. I'm eating 100% raw food and trust my cravings. More times than not, I'll eventually discover something about why I would need that particular food. It freaks me out just how in tune my body is with what it needs and wants.
If you're raw and eating nutritious food that makes you feel good, that can be enough of a reason to just keep on eating what you desire.

whenever i eat lots of carrots i go orange. i didn't mind it, but people around me commented. once built up it can stain the skin for a long time. there are periods when i eat lots of carrots and then the carrots don't appeal to me anymore. i'm guessing my body is just saying, "enough!"
now i'm more moderate and things are fine.

As far as turning orange ... about 12-13 years ago there was a group of us that started experimenting with high raw and we were all drinking about 16 oz. carrot juice per day, out of the 6 of us there were two that turned orange ... not oompa loompa orange but an orange tinge especially the palms. So, I started reading and some believe that if you turn orange it's not because the carrot juice is orange but it is cleansing the liver of something that is causing it to detox through the skin and turn it orange. I never turned orange but my mom did, and it gradually goes away or you can cut back on the amount you are drinking and it will gradually go away as well.
