Hi, I'm Jenn from Michigan, I'm a 46 years old mother of 2 just about grown children. I've been struggling with obesity, hypothyroid disorder, fatigue, depression and anxiety for a lot of years. I tried going raw for a couple of weeks at the beginning of summer and I started feeling much better, then vacation hit and 3 birthdays in 1 month just made it too difficult. I decided then that I would try it later when I didn't have holidays etc. taking center stage. I started by eating fresh fruit several times a day and now I'm making green smoothies again. I've noticed that everytime I eat a cooked meal at lunch I become very fatigued and even anxious. I've been looking for a diet that does more than help me lose weight and I keep coming back to the raw food diet because I never feel badly when I eat fruit or salad etc. Food should never put you to sleep. After my daughters high school graduation 2 years ago, I was so exhausted that I became a couch potatoe and I never used to sit for long periods of time. Now I can't hardly function. I went back to the gym yesterday and feel better. I'm seeing a therapist to help with the depression. I'm soo far from my youthful days when my husband called me zoom zoom, but I do think it's possible again. Wish me luck, I still have to cook for everyone else.
Thanks, Jenn

I'm still cooking for my family too. I think you will find that this site will really help keep you raw. My daughter calls that sleepy feeling after eating a heavy cooked meal a "food coma".
GOOD LUCK!

Welcome fellow Michigander!
You are right you should never get tired after eating. With raw I always feel energized after I eat. Glad you are back to giving raw another try. If you stick with it, you will have a new lease on life and will live up to that nickname again. I feel better than when I was 29 now that the weight is gone! You can too!
Best wishes to you on your new journey back to health!
