Ok, I've been 100% again for three days...and I've noticed each day that progresses I'm becoming emotional...and more emotional...and more. Is that normal for some form of detox? I've been high raw to 100% for over 2 and a half years and never experienced this before. Have any of you????

Yeah, I've had some emotional detox before. Cooked food is an addiction. Without that addictive substance, you're bound to go through withdrawal, and it can certainly affect your moods.

I think that's true. I've fallen off the wagon a bit here lately, and dread giving up my comfort foods for that reason. But on the other hand, I remember how good raw makes me feel...

That's it exactly!!! ;) I'm going through a few stressful changes & eating raw gives me no emotional outlet...being that I'm an emotional eater. When I went 100% raw before, I was in a really peaceful place. Thank you! That's exactly what it is. I will have to start doing yoga again and perhaps watercolors...something to relieve the stress. Excellent. Thank you again.

For me currently it's almost a depression. Just a slump. I don't want to do much of anything. I think I might be starting to get out of it though.

I should also note that I'm not nor have I ever been 100% raw. Im working on it but currently am at around 75-80%

Perhaps getting some sunshine may help with emotions as I know it makes me feel so good, but you don't have to bake in it for long time either. Also wear bright colors as they are super uplifting. Oh, let sun shine in house so open blinds or shades.

Exercise may help too.

Lastly don't beat yourself up. Come back for support. Maybe a few of you want to write each other as partners to encourage each one's day. Of course you can continue posting here as it's nice to see your posts.

I've had several emotional detoxes, even retraced emotions from my childhood and situations I had forgotten completely. I feel like I'm due for one soon because I still have some stuff to work through. They've been wonderful for my marriage, though... I didn't realize how much I had stuffed in over the years until recently.

You'll get through it more emotionally sound and with a better perspective. My one piece of advice is to be very gentle and extra understanding with yourself. :)

What happened is that we berry dead emotions with food, when we eat raw food, we are giving life to those emotions. This is all good, they need to be released and healed. Yeap, you will go through a body and emotional detox. Plan to go outside more often, outdoor seems to clear out the stress and bring up well being.

Congratulations on your three days

Emotional detox happens to almost everyone, sooner or later, simply because we store unresolved emotions and feelings in our cells and, as any toxin, they get released with raw foods eventually.

What worked for me was meditation, deep breathing, journaling, and spending time in nature.

Also, Angela Stokes wrote a book "Raw Emotions" that deals specifically with emotional detox issues. I haven't read it yet but heard a lot of very good comments.

Hang in there, this too shall pass.

Alina,
It's so funny that you should word it like that. This too shall pass...that's what my Nanny used to say....so true.:)

What does everyone drink, when they are craving a warm cup of tea or coffee?? A green smoothie??

Herbal sun or hot tea, unsweetened. No caffeine. I didnt feel good until I gave it up entirely. I only use the medicinal teas now that I think will do me good, made by Traditional Medicinals. I especially like the Gingerade, which is sweet, soothes the belly and is a good pick me up all by itself. I also often juice some ginger and lemons or limes and keep in the refrigerator. I pour a little in a cup and add warm water to it. When I have left over juice I put it in a jar in the refrigerator and sometimes stick the jar in hot water. Then it's like soup. Experiment and have fun!
