There are so many model options on ebay-is there a "wrong choice" when it comes to a vitamix?
I dunno, but my mom has the old-school one from back in the day when the pitchers were metal, and hers gets way more cool points than the new ones. All those cool points and a V-Mixer for a steal at about $100 on ebay. ;)

That would depend on why they are selling it. Maybe it's never been used, maybe they burned out the motor, maybe they got a new one and it's time to give up the old one..
As far as V-M's go, I don't think they've made a "bad" model... can't say for sure though as I've only had one ~ for about 12 years now.

Ziphirah........I just noticed My Quote in your Signature. So I'm feeling like you feel when someone gives you a Gift and later you realize....You forgot to thank them. THANKS.
I think any Working Vita-Mix is a Good Thing. Sometimes people just want to upgrade for something like a New Color. I had to talk Myself out of doing that. I also have never shopped on ebay. I am sure you can get one cheaper there. than one from Vita-Mix, they sell refurbished one cheaper than their regular ones.

I searched about 6 weeks for a good price on a used vita-mix, no luck. The vita-mix website sells reconditioned 5200's for $379. A new one is $449, plus shipping. Found a new 5200 at Costco for $394.99.
New models have an improved lid. Also a new container, it is made from tritan copolyester instead of poly-carbonate. Claims to be BPA free.
I don't really know what that means, but it sounds important.

maybe I just need to get over myself and take him up on the offer before he buys a kayak or something! LOL!

YEZZZZZZZZ!!!! They last so long! Just figure however much it is and divide it by 12 (YEARS) and you'll see the yearly cost of a VM. Then figure how much you can save making your own really great smoozies!!!!

I use mine almost everyday and some days I use it multiple times. You will not regret purchasing this quality blender. It does so much like grind coffee, make powdered sugar and raw smoothies are incredible in this. You get a huge 3-ring binder full of recipes with it. I've had mine 5 years and if it died today, I would order another one immediately. Once you've had one, you're hooked!
