I have been thinking about finally replacing my round Walmart dehydrator with an Excalibur. But while reading up on it, I have come across the Good4U 10 tray.
http://www.rawfoodlife.com/good4ucomparison.html
It is cheaper, quieter, has no doors, and the same drying principles as the Excalibur.
Anybody own and used this dehydrator?

Sounds Good to me although I have never heard of it but now I have Thanks for Sharing. I see it has a 10 year warranty. I would try it if I did not already have one.

I don't own one yet...but looking forward to it! It's cheaper than the Excaliber and looks really nice!

It seems to be a really new product then? I guess there is no harm in trying it, since this website gives you an unconditional 1 year money back guarantee!
Plus it does seem to have a better guarantee, and it is quieter than the excalibur. Not that I know the excalibur at all, I've been using the Nesco American Harvest, and it has done well in the few years I've had it.
But I just heard that the excalibur is superior. Faster drying and more efficient drying.

Does it have a timer? The Excalibur 9 tray has a 26 hour timer and the company sells new "blemished" models for $185 on ebay, that's what I bought and never noticed any blemish.

raweater - thanks for posting about "blemished" models on ebay. I too have a cheap round model and was thinking about replacing it soon.

OMGOSH!!! Great news! The good4u DOESN'T HAVE THE SILLY DOOR that the Excalibur has. The TRAYS form a DOOR....Since my excalibur had mouse poop in it and I can't bring myself to use it, and it's held together with duct tape, has a crack across the ENTIRE top, the right side of the whole thing falls off/comes loose and and all my trays crash to the bottom, squishing all my foods and *everytime* I use it more and more pieces are breaking off and I'm tired of picking black plastic out of my yummy foods...this maybe JUST what I am going to get! :p

I just thought of something, since this Good4u model has no door, if you're dehydrating thicker items which require a level to be removed you'll be left which a large hole in the front, so unless you only want to dehydrate thin items this is something to consider.

Thanks for all the replies! I contacted a couple of retailers and asked about the timer.
And thanks also for the thought about thicker/larger items, raweater. But that wouldn't really be a factor for me. I don't like breads and if I really want to try one, I'll just make it as high as the dehydrator will allow me, which will be good enough for me.

bella, if you ever use the D to warm foods, you may want to put things on plates or in bowls. I put my whole portabellos in saucers, for example, so the marinade will stay put. Or when I warmed my broccoli and cheez sauce, I used a cereal bowl. Just a thot....

Hmm, yes that is something to consider. I wonder what the space is in between the trays?

On the excalibur it's barely 3/4 inches between trays.

He he! Your post gave me a little chuckle! Sounds like your dehydrator has defiantely been through the "raw mill" so to speak! :)
On topic, a friend of mine bought the Good4U dehyrator and is quite happy with it. The wattage on it is better than the Excalibur so it will be more powerful. I would buy too but I already have a SausageMaker Stainless Steel one that I love. I do not really like the door either - it has one like the Excalibur.

I saw in a listing on eBay that the Good4u has 1.25 inches between trays.

Oh, I thought I had seen the dimensions between trays somewhere, but I couldn't find it anymore! Thanks for the tip! :)

Hmmm, since I am in the process of thinking about a dehydrator, this thread is very timely! The Good4U looks like a much better deal and if it is based on the same drying principles as the Excalibur, and much less expensive, it may be the way to go. The only thing I don't like is the color--the white exterior with the blue drawers would look hideous in my kitchen, which is cherry wood and green granite......well, just like I was thinking with the Excalibur, this one may still have to go in the garage or the basement. It's too bad they didn't do it all in black with smoke color trays instead of that blue which I'm sure wouldn't go with too many kitchens.

I just ordered it! :D I'll let you guys know, what I think of it asap! :)
I agree with the above posts on fitting bigger dishes/casseroles/etc in the good4u. Wont it leave an open space in the front of the dehydrator. Anxious to hear how you like it. Keep us posted.

I believe it will leave a space, if I take out a tray. But I don't believe that it will make a huge difference for me, and if I really do want to dehydrate something bigger, I can use my old Nesco, since I bought those specialty trays so I can do that. :)
Plus, the space is supposed to be 1.25 in, so it's not that teeny. :)

dh's boss called last night and told him that he did such a great job this summer that there would be a "little something extra" in his check this week. So guess what we're getting....? :p

Pony500 - I don't really mind colors, but I hate the constant noise. My LR/DR/kitchen is one open space, and I couldn't hear myself think (it's hard enough to get any thinking done between senior moments), so I banned it into the laundry room. It sits on top of the dryer. My microwave oven is also in the laundry room. The only thing it's used for is to sterilize my kitchen sponge.:D
I have edited this post. I was and still am sad about what I perceived as lack of integrity for a business in this thread. Nevertheless, I have been thinking and don't think it's my place (or this is a good place) to share!

Thanks for posting that, Eva! I didn't know that, since I haven't joined to get the e-book. I would hope he'll take that book off his website now, or at least note that it is not a raw book!

I just talked to someone at 2 life and he told me that the company that makes the good 4 u dehydrator will be coming out with a spacer that you can put larger items in and take out the trays. I think it is a very good deal at 125 dollars for 10? trays. It is smaller than the excalibur too. The only drawback I can see is the color. I will be watching this thread for those that have it- just hate to miss the sale that ends tomorrow. sigh- such decisions. Lol

Hey everyone,
I'm selling the good4u dehydrators now instead of the Excalibur.
I LOVE it! I have been using mine for 2 weeks now and it works great and i love the no door approach!
We will soon have a supplemental door you can buy so you can take out trays if you need to. You can buy that separately when it is available in a few months.
This is a great product and we are giving free telex sheets with them!
let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Alissa

Yay, I finally got my dehydrator today! First thing I noticed when I turned it on, that it was even quieter then the Nesco I had! What I nice surprise! I was just hoping it would be at about the same noise level as my old one! I can still hear the kids in the living room now, when I'm in the kitchen! :D
Secondly, I've never had the pleasure of dealing with teflex sheets! It just peels off so nicely! No more having to work with a spatula to scrape the dough off one side to turn over what I'm dehydrating!
So far it's doing great! I have ritz crackers and cereal for the morning in there right now!
I'll be making the Mediteranian Almond bread tomorrow. I can't wait to see, how it will turn out! :D
I think the heat is more like it is supposed to be, since it seems to run cooler on the same temps as my old one. But it still doesn't get that funny smell, that my crackers would get, if I didn't turn up the heat to a certain point.

I got mine and LOVE it!! So far I made a batch of Kale chips , and now have a huge batch of sundried tomatoe flax crackers and made some apple raisin cookies in it. I got up this am and my toddler and I could not stop eating the crackers! yum! I am so happy with it - super quiet too. It is in our kitchen which is open in our floor plan and I can barely hear it. Hope to make some more goodies today! The only regret I have is that I bought mine before Alissa sold it - or I would have bought it from her.

I have all 10 trays in use right now! My first bread is dehydrating in it. The Mediteranian Almond Bread. And no funny taste so far, with this dehydrator. The granola turned out perfect and the ritz crackers as well.

I love mine. I suggest if they give you the option of buying extra teflex sheets at a discounted price with free shipping you do so. They come with 2.
I didn't take advantage of it and when I bought later they cost more plus I had to pay shipping.
