after being raw for a little while now, I am finding it hard to hydrate myself. water has ALWAYS ran right through me, even a sip. I have been drinking 40-80oz of water a day, plus a random bottle here and there but I always keep my 40oz klean kanteen with me, full! I have been waking up with really bad headaches and im so dehydrated, my mouth gets dry to the point where I cannot feel myself moving my tongue, or maybe its not moving? I have no idea!, I have to jump out of bed in a panic to grab water.... Nothing in the atmosphere has changed, heat, a/c....
has this happened to anyone?

Just starting out and drinking all that water?! I'd say it is most likely detox. Still worried about dehydration - add chia to your smoothies. They (chia seeds) hold 10-12 times their weight in water and should help you keep well hydrated. Hang in there, you'll feel better soon ~ Cathy

I've always drank this much water, Unfortunately, I dont hold any of it, If I drink a 16oz bottle of water, I can go to the bathroom 5 or 6 times right after with like 15 mins in between! My boyfriend gets mad because I pause our movies every 15 mins to pee!! LOL!!! im like I CANT HELP IT!!
Thanks for the advice though!!! chia seeds, I need some of those!

Are you eating many dry "thirsty" foods - dehydrated foods ? Do you eat many flax seeds ?

Eating more salt might help you hold onto that water. Lemon juice in water is very hydrating, too.
I've always needed a lot of water, and even on raw for 9 months, I still need to drink about 70 ounces daily, but I don't have to pee that often.
I hope others can give you some better advice :) .
rawstrength beat me to it. It sounds like the water's not even hydrating you. What a waste. Do you have access to really high quality mineral water? I mean -- so good that you can TASTE the minerals? I find that this stays in me really well.
Also, my fave recipe for water:
Put it in a liter-sized jar. Squeeze and slice two juicy lemons. Put the slices in the water. Cut up about half of an average sized cucumber, and put those slices in there too. Keep this in the fridge. This is so refreshing, especially after a workout.
This is not good all the time because the acid in the lemons is not good for your teeth, so keep that in mind. But I like to have a glass when I'm feeling parched, then swish with regular water to get rid of the acid.
And I think I read that your body cannot absorb more than 16 oz. of water in an hour.
Are you drinking green smoothies frequently?? Those are good for hydration too.
Let us know if anything you try works. It sounds like just drinking lots of water is not working at all! :(

I think you're demineralized too. Replace some of the water with veggie juices and add sea veggies too. You can also try angstrom minerals, if you use supplementation.

Good point Raven and Eve! Live whole plant based foods already have a lot of water content in them, and I for one, do not drink or feel the need to drink as much water as so many others do.
Stick w adding sea salt or veggies to your smoothies, maybe add a few stalks of celery too. I'd hold off on the lemon water though, it's a natural diuretic.
If you've had bladder or kidney problems in the past, and you find that you are
still having to make frequent br visits even after cutting your water intake, you might very well be experiencing "retracing" (just a thought) ~ Cathy

I have a weak bladder, and can run into the exact same problems that you're describing, just like I did this morning, if I don't do this one thing. I HAVE to keep a bottle of water by my bed at night and drink from it when I get up in the wee hours of the morning to use the bathroom. It was something I was REALLY hoping raw would help with. But I've had that all my life, so, I figure raw helped with so many other things so fast that either A) it's gonna take more time to fix this, or B) it's not going to get fixed for whatever reason.
And I do drink water throughout the day, and other liquids too like my shakes and smoothies. But I've found that to be the only thing that helps me. Hope it helps you too.:)

Maybe drinking some coco water instead of part of the water might hydrate you more?
Once I read that eating a banana before drinking a bunch of water helped the water be absorbed. No idea if thats true but it cant hurt;)
