hello everybody,
i love this forum. there are so many good vibes and mutual motivation. it´s unique.
i´m 2 months 100% raw and feel just great. it´s so fascinating to see your body changing and healing every day. before going raw I´ve been a vegetarian since i was a child of 8 raised in a carnivorous family.:p
i´ve been raw last year for 3-4 months but fell off the raw path while traveling and because i had no experience and because i thought i can eat regular food while traveling for business and eat raw at home. it didn´t work out.
the reason for beeing raw?
to lose weight. I´m about 200 pounds at the moment.
and the most important thing is i want to cure my severe allergies and my hay fever which makes me realy sick for 6-8 months a year. it´s accompanied by fever and shooting pains. so its like a flue but it lasts for a few months.
i tried all the therapies existing and the antihistamines just stopped taking any effect on me. i´m really dispaired because i´m a freelancer and can´t earn my living while i´m not able to work. last year i was so sick and down and out.
but i´m not giving up. last year during my raw period i had almost no allergie symptoms. so, there´s still hope for me.
i´ve been a passiv reader for two months but reading every day. i´ve learnd so much from all of you. unfortunately there are not so many raw foodists in germany. i don´t know anybody in person. there are a few forums but different. many people have ideological fights all the time and some are not vegan. they eat raw meet  so i´m a little bit loneley:(
and i´m worried about my social life.......
i hope you don´t mind my english. i´m not a native speaker:o
great to be here.

Welcome! Guten tag! or abend! What city do you live in?
I also had a raw period last summer and then stopped. This summer, I started again and it's been wonderful. Very different from last year. I think my attitude is better, but also, I was trying to be "high raw" (mostly raw) last year and this year, I'm trying to be 100%. I think it has made a big difference in how I feel and in losing weight.
If you have access to some good bio stores, you can get what you need, even raw grains, if you want to eat them.
hello! and welcome. :) All of my relatives over here seem to have allergies now, but I don't. Apparently they "run in the family."
That's crazy talk. Raw food helps so much! :)

@eva
hello to budapest.
oh, all of my relatives have allergies aswell. I want to be the first to escape from that
do you have many raw foodist in hungary?
@ emma-liza
thanks a lot. i live in berlin .your story with raw is similar to mine ;) let´s rawk on!
I have very good access to bio stores. actually there is one next door. it has been built on my suggestion last year . that beats everything! i go every day.
i eat a lot of raw grains, mostly for breakfast. i think the raw path you can follow living in germany is different than the american one. we have different foods and different tastes. e.g. i hate the smoothies, even if i know there are sooo good for me. i bought a blender and i tried again and again but i just dont like it and feel sick afterwards. but i love the grains in the morning and pickles which i make myself and onions:cool:
Good access here to the bio stores too. :) Not a ton of raw foodies, but there is a meetup that's just started. Our next one is in a couple weeks. There were about 15 people at the last one.

Hi Patyraw,
Welcome to the board. I wish I was in Berlin! I'm a Half-Berliner, my father was from Berlin. I spent a few summer vacations in Berlin, in Rudow to be exact. In fact, my grandparents lived just a couple hundred meters away from the "zonengrenze" and my summer friends and I (age 11) were sitting on dirt hills on August 13, 1961 and watched the East German soldiers build their fence. I grew up in Stuttgart, but absolutely love Berlin. My daughter and I visited last year, unfortunately just for a couple of days. There is soooooo much to see. It struck me how it's MY history I'm experiencing when there. I've been toying with the idea of moving back to Germany, now that I'm retired, and Berlin is one of the possible choices. My sisters and brother are scattered all over Germany, so I can just pick where I would want to be.
Welcome again to RAW. It's such a liberating way of eating!:)

As EmmaT already knows, I have a sister in Berlin (Prenzlauer Berg) and have been lucky enough to have spent two vacations with her. We're not going this year, however, as she and her partner have no time off this fall! :( That's how I know about bio stores, as that is where we got all our groceries! Well, there and the Saturday market in the park. On those visits, I was eating cheese, so I was in heaven. It's all different, as you say!
Use your blender to make some nut pates such as the jalapeno burgers. Just substitute whatever hot pepper you like. I think they'd be wonderful with pickles, onions, kraut, & mustard and a nice bitter greens salad. Last fall, we went to the Spreewald and bought loads of different pickles. Were they raw?

Hi there! You speak English very well! I"m from Austria, grew up there. My family is still there, and I'll be going there again this fall. I'm trying to prepare myself already, and hopefully I will be able to stay raw on my trip.
Just yesterday, I was researching German raw food books, since I wanted to find recipes, that would use the foods I can find over there. I had my dad buy them for me today on amazon.de, lol, since the Euro - Dollar exchange rate is so bad.
I speak German, so if you ever want to chat in German, send me an email. :)
Welcome! :)

Hi Paty,
nice to hear from you and welcome to the board. I am French woman living in Germany (Speyer south of Frankfurt). I am a certified Alissa Cohen Teacher and give courses and food prep demos etc. I've certified a lady from Berlin as a chef a few weeks ago. So lets talk in German if the other board members don't mind.

Hallo Patyraw,
wilkommen (welcome), nice to have a fellow german. I'm from Munich but live now in the US. I have a lot of understanding for your food issues, but I have a very good friend in Munich who implanted the Raw idea into my head years ago (she is now 100% raw in her 8th year) in even in Germany with the cold winters it is possible to stay on this life (changing) style.
have fun and a big hug to beautiful berlin and the delicious food there

My son just returned from living the last two years in Germany, Austria and Zurich, Switzerland. He said it was next to impossible to be vegetarian over there but it sounds like you are finding a way and will do great. I go out and do many social things, the last time we went to a restraunt I called ahead and found out what raw items they had in their kitchen and special ordered a salad, it actually come out presented very beautifully and even had mangos on it. Yeah, several were eyeing my salad and it really was delicious. You'll figure out the social thing one step and experience at a time. Good luck.

being vegeterian in Germany is no problem. Why did he think it was hard? because there are no raw restaurants? What is the difference between here and the good old US of A? I'm ever so curious;)
