Hello,
The weather stinks here.. The tropical storm Hanna is supposed to blow over here this weekend & it's been dark and rainy here today as well as yesterday.
I don't feel much like doing anything without sunshine.
Saxmam: Garlic makes my head hurt too & breath stink so I don't put so much in my food anymore.
I was eating sunflower seeds & they were making me tired. I guess it slows the digestion?
Today I have to go food shopping. Seems like now that I'm raw I have to more often.
I'll check back in later & post the foods that I ate today. Hope everyone has a great raw day. :)

Hey,
Checking in. After this I am going to make some watermellon juice for breakfast. Don't know what I would have done without it. It is the best tasting, most refreshing thing I have ever drank.
I've been pretty tired this week. On one of my morning walks I was yawning constantly. I hope my friend didn't think I was bored with her conversation.
Thick, I have no idea what you are going through! So glad you seem to be getting the support you need.
Hope all of you have a day full of the most delicious raw food!

Good morning everyone!
Yesterday I had:
Shake
Clementines
Salad
I'm about to have a shake here in a little bit.:D LOVE my shakes!
I have to say, the weight has been moving much faster since I stopped eating after 7pm. So that's been nice.:)
But I do make sure I eat enough during the day. Because you better believe if it's late, and I'm ravenous, I'm gonna eat no matter what time it is.;)

Incase you didn't manage to read yesterdays post (in the evening), you won't know that I joined this group. If you want to know more about me, I invite you to go to day 5 -- I kind of updated, as I haven't posted in ages.
Today so far:
B = 3 bananas and almonds,
L = GS: 1 banana, rasberries, spinach, dates, lots of ice, and some stevia.
To Thick: I do hope your day is going better -- I've never smoked, so I can't relate on that field, but the roller coaster I do understand. Especially the past few months, PMS and pre-menapause both are sometimes more than I can handle. The covers sound so good, and the tears know no end. I find I need to escape before I really hurt someone verbally. So I go for a long walk and pour my heart out to the one who created me and all these symptoms. Blessing!

Jenifae--good on you for taking your chocolate with you to avoid the restaurant desserts! That's the way to do it!
BDraw--I hope you're here with us! I look forward to hearing how it goes for you with little ones to feed and care for.
thick--Spending the day in bed? Grieving, maybe? Besides what you mentioned about telling dh all your smoking secret behaviors, that grief process is another indication that you are serious. I know you know this, but just to say--his eating is not about your smoking. You may have a "deal" to get healthy together, which is great, but all options are open to you until YOU take them off the table. YOU remove the smoking option; nothing he or anyone else does can put it back. You've made some amazing changes this summer; you're creative and imaginative and I have no doubt you can find a way to do this, too!
I am a long-winded person!
Last night D--two kinds of slaw, two romaine wraps with salsa and walnut taco meat
S--seed cracker quarter
Today B--birthday brunch at a restaurant: fruit plate
L--?? smoothie or pate + cracker or both :)
D--having company. Salsa, guacamole with celery, romaine wraps with walnut taco meat

I would say "good morning" but the day has gotten away from me. We all got up bright and early and went to the shooting range. My kiddos are turning into quite the marksmen :) . Then we came home and hubby and ds went one direction and my dd and I went to pick blueberries with my mom, and we just got home. It was so hot out there I was literally dripping sweat, I know it's good for our bodies to sweat. So I have the blueberries I need for my blueberry pie. So my food prep for today will be to make my jalapeno burger mix and a blueberry pie. My Essene bread is - eh. I will likely try it one more time but it has a grassy aftertaste, I'm thinking I let the sprouts sprout to long, it said to let them sprout 2-3 days and I think it was just too much. So, I think I will let them soak over night then sprout the next day, then make my bread when the grains have little tiny tails. Ok, I'm rambling ... sorry.
Starfire - Sorry, no pics, hubby had the camera today. However if you're ever in N. Georgia I'll make a pie just for you.
BDraw - Welcome! I'm a homeschool mom of two.
Thick - You're doing GREAT! I would imagine that the first few days would be the hardest (I would just stay in bed if I were you and pamper yourself).
Vaclare - Hopefully you're keeping your head above water (literally :o ). I'm glad I now live inland after 14 years on the coast.
Blessings all! I have a date with a blueberry pie!

Hello,
I've been doing schoolwork all day & laying around since can't really do anything outside due to the storm. It seems to have passed somewhat since it's not raining now. My parents ordered 3 large papa johns pizzas and they smell SO good. OMGosh I am DYING here of a pizza craving. The old scent & taste of it. Stinks I can't have it, but then again I know it would hurt me if I did eat it so I'm not daring enough to eat it.. I'm just randomly eating whatever fruits I have at home today. I ate grapes, strawberries, apples, some spinach and cucumbers with EVOO, ACV, and some garlic with sea salt.
I might eat some broccoli and carrots later. It's 8pm. I haven't drank that much water all day. I need to try some other foods to eat besides what I am eating and because I didn't eat any sunflower seeds today I am less sleepy today. I think they make me sleepy.
I need to get some nutritional yeast for my broccoli. Has anyone made any broccoli soup ? I used to love it before going raw and haven't made any yet so I think I'm going to try making some.

I choose quit forever because today was really hard for me--and its over. Tomorrow may be harder--but I refuse to start over. I am like a junkie--if it was heroine or crack or speed I wouldn't allow myself to stay addicted--and believe me theres nothing like fiending for a cigarette to remind you how much cigarettes are a drug.
I just have to pop in here and say WAY TO GO THICK! Congratulations on your decision to stop smoking. It might feel like the hardest thing you have ever done, but it will be so rewarding. I started smoking at 14 years old, smoked for 33 years, quit 7 years ago. Can't adequately express how grateful I am that my 8 year old daughter shamed me into quitting. It's T O U G H, but...so worth it!

Today was my first day "off" in a long time. Granted, I'm never really "off", but today was about as close as I get.
To eat I had:
Breakfast: Shake
Lunch: Salad
Dinner: Shake
Plus lots and lots of water. I keep waking up dehydrated, so I'm hoping this helps. :)

Hey All,
Weekends have been my downfall in the past & this weekend being the first in this 30 day challenge, I made a decision that I would stick to my committment & keep it RAW. I even went grocery shopping while hungry & made it out with the planned produce & no SAD junk! I'm half way through the weekend & still RAW! Yeah!
B- melon, avocado
L- salad, banana ice cream
S- pecans, raisins, nectarine
D- hummus, veggies, watermelon
Bri.
PS I also gotta say - thank you to my hubby - he's been passing up cookies & popcorn to support me so he doesn't fill the house with the scents of my old favorite SAD treats.

Thick - I applaud you for being honest with your dh and telling him all that stuff ... you did it for you and you will DO IT for you!
I had a meeting out of town today so I made sure I had something to eat (Pure Bar) in my purse and some water. After the meeting I went to lunch with a friend at a local taco place and our waitress was a girl I knew from the youth group at my old church ... she made me a rawsome salad :D
Today's intake:
1 Cherry Cashew Pure Bar
3 strawberries
handful of green grapes
Large salad w/romaine, onion, tomato, jalepeno, cilantro, avocado
Celery sticks with walnut pate

Ah, but now I WANT my lunch... and all I have is a pear smoothie, which tastes good but isn't filling... gotta quit eating my lunch so early! I eat too much, something I'm hoping to learn to quit during this challenge.
Keep some nuts and raw food bars at work to grab when something like this happens and you need more to eat.
I admire that you made the lasagne ... I haven't ... yet ... :D

Good morning all! Well, busy day today ... non-raw potluck at my house. So, I will be cutting up a pineapple and making taco salad stuff for myself. Mmmm, sounds good ... jalapeno burger pate, Rich Cheddar Sauce, Guacamole ... OK, I'm salivating ... I suppose that's progress. Last night I served with my salad bar ... wilted spinach salad (it was a HIT), and jalapeno burger pate with cucumber rounds (the only one that didn't like it was my dad). Then the blueberry pie ... I've decided I DO like it but my brain expected the jelled consistency of cooked pie, and it is much juicier but good.
Food for today:
GS (#7)
Blueberry Pie
Taco Salad
Cashew Milk/Banana/Cacao THICK smoothie
Have a GREAT raw day! I'll check back in after the potluck.
Blessings,
Heather

Good morning everyone,
I'm off to the grocery shops to get more food. I'm not sure what am going to eat today, but should be something good. I'm annoyed because this week have gotten bad grades in two classes because the instructors are so particular about how they want their assignments done & turned in. I've got to email them to see what their problems are.. Hopefully I will get it right for what assignments they want turned in & pass their classes because I'm tired of being in school. I'm almost a senior and I want to graduate soon with my Bachelor's degree. Hope everyone has a great raw day. :)

Great Mornin' Everyone! ....I've missed the boards, esp. this thread...my home computer was in the shop most of the week and the laptop for somereason didn't keep me registered...so I had to re-set my password etc, 'cause I couldn't remember it...etc. etc. etc.! ...so, still catching up with the posts...
Heather....wilted salad is sooo good and easy too! Thank you for the reminder! I loved the pie with a dallop of quick made almond cream: extra thick almond milk with agave and vanilla...mmmmmmm
Valclare: Hang in there with school...I know it seems like time is passing slow, but you'll be done before you know it!.....
Food for today:
Big GS
Raw Tomato soup: tomatos juiced with basil, oo, sea salt, maybe celery too...mmmm
young coco smoothie
Big salad with all the veggies I can find in my house and avo and honey mustard dressing
I'll also quick prep the dressing for a jicama salad.....getting organized for a great Raw week! warmly, Deb

Still a non smoker=)> Thank you again so much for all the amazing advice, insights and praise. It really helped=)
The most amazing side effect of quitting is that it has made being raw so ridiculously easy. I am grateful to have food, excellent food and as much as I want. I am not using food as a mouth toy to quit smoking however- But I am now learning to experience a hunger and be able to not act upon it, or only act upon it after careful consideration--and I'm learning to make the right decisions. This is helping me all over my life-- fewer knee jerk reactions to anything.
Yesterday's food-
jalapeno burgers on greenleaf lettuce w/ tomatoes & avacado
ripe organic peach
2 black plums
brownie batter (pecans, agave, cocoa, vanilla, salt)
blueberry banana smoothie
tomato basil salad w/ garlic & olive oil
sliced cucumbers with salt and dil
more brownie batter
Today's plan=
spinach/banana smoothie
papaya w/ lime
canary melon
peach
jalapeno burger
big pitcher of lemonade w/ agave
marinated broccoli (not sure on dressing yet)
chocolate dipped strawberries
I probably won't eat it all, but then again I might! And more=)
I hope you find the motivation to do that thing you have been putting off=)!
I am glad you are still a non-smoker, Thick. I quit 2 1/2 years ago and it took about 6 months for me to stop wanting to scream for nicotine when I was under stress! (I would actually stand near smokers when I was stressed for a minute or two and indulge in some second hand smoke. It totally worked;) At about the 10 month point I woke up one day and realized that it was gone. The need to smoke was just gone. It was such a relief and even though there have been moments where I have a flash of wanting a cigarette, the thought is gone just as quickly as it arrived. Good luck and keep it up!
I am a little concerned about the weight thing as I am not budging with my weight (I have even gained a few pounds) since I started. I have been doing 100% raw for 2 weeks now and was doing a lot of raw before that for a couple of months. I am cutting out dates and nuts for a while so that I can see if maybe I was overeating them. I am wondering if anyone out there who has had a difficult time releasing weight wants to share their story or has any suggestions. I have found that the number on the scale is no longer bothering me (I feel remarkably at peace with it for the first time in a long time) but since I had gained 10lbs this summer I would really like to fit into my clothes again.
So my food plan for the day:
B~Coconut water and GS
Snack~Apple and smoothie
L~Veggie juice and salad
D~?
Thanks everyone, and have an awesome day!

Just checking back here.. Foods for today.
Some DELICIOUS salad for lunch after I ate some grapes for breakfast. I am feeling great today so far.. A little bit stuffed after eating the salad which is good. I'm not starving at all on this raw lifestyle . The pizza in the fridge doesn't call my name now. I had to quit eating so many sunflower seeds because they were making me sluggish & tired. I think eating raw is making me happier even. Or, maybe it's just my imagination? I'm glad if it is..
I bought some apples again today & ate some strawberries.
Deberaw: Yes, I love school!! It's so much fun although it does have it's frustrating moments. The tomato soup sounds great! :)
Thick: Keep up the good work eating raw & quitting smoking! I'm glad for ya :)
MiahTay: Have fun at your potluck & enjoy your food today. :)

Day 7 - first Sunday of the RAW challenge. This is the day that I have lost my RAW in the past. But today, I'm holding strong! Yeah! I'm countering the SAD urges by making all kinds of RAW goodies today. Almond butter balls and watermelon are saving me today!
B- melon
S- smoothie, banana (kept me RAW while grocery shopping with a hyper toddler)
S- almond butter balls, watermelon
L- green salad, almond butter balls
D- don't know yet... I'm thinking cabbage wraps with hummus & veggies and probably more almond butter balls & watermelon. :)

Hello all!!
I am loving this raw food challenge...it really helps me to stay on track! I love reading everyone's posts, it is so inspiring to know there are so many other people doing this wonderful lifestyle! I am battling non-hodgkin's lymphoma and am doing it the raw way....to heal it! I have another test in 2 months and I am hoping and praying for it to look better than my other test results!
Anyway---I was at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach Florda for 3 weeks and got turned on to this lifestyle to heal my body...
Here was my day today..
green juice..spinach, romaine lettuce, wheatgrass, cucumber, and celery.
goji energy bar
huge salad
raweo with raw cacao frosting----yummy!
banana
more for dinner but unsure what yet, very hungry today but only for raw delicious foods!!!
love to all and happy day!

I've been so bad at checking in. :) Seems there's so much to do...
A raw September is a wonderful thing. I've been eating mostly fruit lately. For some reason I haven't been able to do many greens these past couple weeks so I decided to trust my body. It will let me know when it's time to get green again. Thanks to everyone for being here.

My mother made some romaine salad with strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, pecans with some poppy seed dressing tonight with our cook out ribs & beans and my brother loved it along with his friends. They were picking the food off each other's plates. :)
I made some salads today mostly with EVOO, ACV and sea salt. I am tired though even though I didn't eat any sunflower seeds today.

hi everyone,
loving reading all of the posts, and diff. ideas of what people are eating.
I am so thrilled that I've made it through the 1st wk. Praise God. I didn't think i could do it.
But it seems like I running out of ideas and things to eat... I'll keep reading the posts. I've lost 3 lbs. this wk. so thrilled with that, keep this up, and I shld. loose another 10 lbs, by the end of the month.
Have a GREAt RAW week..... Keep strong

Thick - I'm SOOOOOOO proud of you! Keep it up, you'll make it!
Sherrie328 - Good for you. Keep a positive attitude, drink lots of green juices. Carrot/apple juice is great for the liver. I believe a lot of cancer is helped along by a stagnant liver, so get that baby detoxed. I had Hodgkins Disease and didn't know better and went the conventional way, even though my personal doc was a naturopath. He helped my treatments a lot though with supplements, which I insisted my oncologist let me take. I just brought him tons of literature to assure him that it was all good. Once the chemo was done, I spent a long time detoxing my body. I still have to work at it, especially my liver. Your good attitude is half the cure! Keep us posted on your healing.
Day 7 of raw juices, day 1 of liver detox. RAW all the way!:D

Day 7 and still 99% raw. Today was a challenge -- had dinner with daughter's family. Yes, I took a big salad and a giant watermelon (from my garden), but old habits die hard. I guess 1 bite vs/ 1 or 2 servings is not so bad.
B: 2 bananas and lots of work in the garden
L: GS - banana, grapes, baby greens & nut date brownie
S: big green salad with romaine, carrots, cucumber, avacoda, with Mock Salmond and watermelon!
I also managed to do my sungazing and get my morning walk in.
I'm pleased with me!

I think eating raw is making me happier even. Or, maybe it's just my imagination? I'm glad if it is..
I believe it is not your imagination :D Your body is loving you for feeding it the nutrients it needs to LIVE and it doesn't have to work so hard to try and get them from SAD foods.
I haven't been that hungry (or thirsty - which isn't good because we need water so I am making sure that I get at least 64 oz of water in a day) and am just going with it.
Sundays start out a little hard for me because I am a leader in my church and have to be there early and stay late. I bring water with me and keep snacks in my purse.
Today's intake:
Chocolate Brownie Pure Bar
Celery sticks
Zucchini hummus
Walnut pate with diced tomato
I am looking forward to weighing myself tomorrow - I had to keep myself from doing it Saturday and Sunday morning :-) I am feeling lighter ...

Im back from my trip!!, Staying away from cooked food was harder this time around then I thought! I DID THOUGH!! We went to a few diff. places then last time, I did well on the first day, we got there around lunch. I found a great salad with raisins, apples, oranges and it was really good. From there every other meal was a lot harder. Dinner was at an italian restaurant, No salad except for the tiny side salad full of bad lettuce and about 2 tomato slices. I thought there would atleast be a salad offered as an entree but there wasn't. I was STARVING. I ate my side salad and my boyfriends. Right after that I ran to food store right around the block (I had food in the hotel, we werent going back and I only had 1 apple in my bag) and got bananas and I ate 4! LOL after that I was fine!!
The same thing happened the next day at dinner, However, my saving grace was me thinking to myself "Sarah, You ate a lot today, You are not going to starve if you wait just 1 more hour to eat at the hotel, you do not NEED this food."
tada!
Anyway! Back to work today!
Had a banana so far
I will probably have a salad for lunch and dinner! I also have a HUGE watermelon!
Have a good day everyone!!

Good morning all! Well we are rolling right along this morning. Pot luck went well and when our friends got here a little early my dh was getting into the blueberry pie I made and wanted a taste. They gave it a thumbs up and they are probably one of the more SAD eating families I know. And NOW the pie is gone ... dh and I finished it off last night, I might make a 1/2 recipe as that's all the blueberries I have left... we'll see. Srsarri - glad to see you back and give yourself a BIG pat on the back for staying raw in the face of temptation! I would have thought you should be able to get an entree salad at an Italian Restauran also. Deb - Nice to see your smiling face, glad you were able to get your computer issues worked out :) .
Ok, food for today:
GS (#8)
Gorilla Sandwich made with jalapeno burger pate
Leftover wilted spinach salad
Almond Milk and 2 Cacao Truffles
Large Salad
It may end up being more than that, I'm feeling hungry today.

Good morning=)
I'm proud of you for staying raw on your trip Srsarri=)
Well , I have done it. I am over the hump. I no longer have any doubt that I am a non smoker. I read a thread that suggested inhaling through a cinamon stick--that was so so helpful. The air was flavored, it was the right size, it made me feel pathetic, it was perfect. The other thing that helped was smelling deeply of a sprig of rosemary. It was also the right size and gave me flavored air. Of course, telling you guys also helped me so much. Thank you=)!!
Okay, what can I invent for today. We went to the farmers market yesterday and have entirely too much produce..
B- spinach banana smoothie
S-black plums
L-cauliflower *cheesy* rice (some sort of nut cheese stirred into cauliflower and dehydrated for a couple of hours)
tomato/basil/garlic salad
S- avacado roll ups
D- ginger sesame marinated broccoli
pitcher of lemonade w/ agave
I am so grateful to have you guys. In real life, I have only one friend, and she lives 1000 miles away. Thank you for being here for me=)

srsarri--you did great! we have to be creative to eat raw away from home, right?! but every time, it gets easier. It's good to hear what you did and said to yourself. Helps me, too! :)
miahtay--I found some 5-inch springform pans at Marshall's. They're going to be perfect for 1/2 recipes of pie. They were really inexpensive, maybe 5-6 dollars for 2. Alternatively, I have used a flat bottomed pasta bowl for a half-recipe of pie and it worked great!
thick--you are an amazing woman! I'm so glad you're here, too! :) Hey, and you can get double duty from your cinnamon and rosemary by cooking with it, too! ;) Please let us know how your cheesy rice turns out, cuz it sounds so yum.
I posted all of yesterday on yesterday's thread. Today I brought to work:
fruit bowl: my usual peach & mixed berries
last of the thai slaw, maybe 2 cups
banana for a snack
some trail mix (I portioned it into 1/2 cup baggies; it is too good to just stop on my own!)
Supper will be Alissa's Indian Spinach Dip, which made last night and tucked away. I have some large sliced button mushrooms to dip with, and several other vegetable dip choices. Might make something else, too, but not sure what. I'll be gettin home late, so don't want to eat much.

Good monday,
I finished off yesterday with a salad and Alissa's honey mustard dressing. It was a bit tart for me, so I added more honey.
Had blood drawn at the drs so haven't eaten yet. After posting I am heading into the kitchen to eat some figs and will probably follow that with a spinach, blueberry, banana, clementine GS.
I feel very joyous today.
Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good morning, all!
I had a very busy weekend. I picked fruit from 6 mature trees by myself (not done, have more to pick about mid week) so I was up and down a 10 foot ladder. My calves feel a little tight. My Mom came to visit to help me process the fruit and to celebrate my birthday. She and my daughter stayed inside and pitted and cut plums into quarters and cored and quartered pears. I'd come in periodically and make raw sauces to freeze for me. They cooked sauces for themselves. I have no clue how many pounds of fruit we did. I have a 6'x3' table in my office, though, that is covered with green pears that need to ripen - in a pile about 6-7" deep!!! I'm picking the plums ripe and the pears green because the bugs attack the pears when they're ripe.
Mom was good and did not bring any cake. She's going to the doctors in Albany for another high colonoscopy on Friday, though, and is supposed to eat light, then start a liquid diet. You know what the doctors told her? Clear apple juice, consomme and JELLO!!! Grrrr.... And no nuts or seeds or anything red a week in advance. So she couldn't eat my raw pie crust, plums or tomatoes. How totally wrong!
I also spent a lot of time with my sick mama goat. She's struggling. I'm trying to give her heroic doses of vitamin c but she's refusing most of it and I don't want to do an injectable c (not that I know where I can find it anyway) because I'm trying to get away from all injections on the farm. I've offered her emergen-c, chewable tablets and a magnesium/calcium/c powder on a spoon. She chomped up three tablets on Saturday and refused the rest so I've been forcing a little powder onto her tongue. I've also given her kelp, probiotics, carrots, apples, pears and celery and have picked weeds from the garden for her. She is now totally confined so her boys will leave her alone. Unfortunately she only seems to cheer up enough to get up and eat and drink and walk around when I am there with her. Whenever I leave I come back to find the food and drink the same as when I left. Hopefully she will be fine today while I'm gone.
Mom made some of her famous egg bread for my daughter, who's been craving it. I was totally ok with the idea until they brought it out of the oven and then I wanted some so badly. But I'm convinced now that bread was my biggest health stealer previously so I ate my raw nut pie crust instead. In fact, I ate all of it. And I made TWO KINDS! Somebody kick me.
This one is so good, I have to share it, though:
sunflower seeds mixed with agave, vanilla and cinnamon, then dehydrated. I was in a hurry so I didn't soak them first, but I imagine they'd be good that way too. Anyway, it dries thin and crisp and would make a good replacement for a cookie crust. If you could stop eating it long enough to get it into the pie pan.
Since Mom couldn't eat the chocolate pudding I was planning to make with coconut I made another favorite of mine: 2 avocadoes, 2 mangos, 2 limes plus zest of one lime, all blended until smooth. She only wanted a taste. I gave myself a huge bowlful. Then she had another taste. Then another. Then she ate half a bowl full and I was secretly very pleased. If you guys haven't tried it, you must! So good and fulfills all those "creamy" cravings.
Today I ate plum puree for breakfast (surprise!) and brought more plums, 4 bananas, two carrots and two celery ribs with me to work.
Bela, you mentioned earlier that you hadn't lost any weight, had actually gained weight and you wondered if you were the only one. I lost 3-4 lbs the first month and gained it back. But I do eat too much and I know it.
Thick, your honesty is refreshing, charming and funny in its bluntness. I love your posts.

Wow, am I excited or what ... I got on the scale this morning and I was down 13.6 lbs ... I knew I was feeling lighter. I know some is water weight yet I did exercise for 15 minutes 6 out of those 7 days so I know that helped too.
Also, what I am even more amazed about is my blood glucose ... I don't manage it well, just take my medication (when I remember) and refused to do insulin when the Dr. gave me the prescription. I hardly even poke my finger to find out where it's at. So, it's been running in the 400s  (and even in the 500s  at times). ANYWAY ... I've been checking it weekly when I weigh in. Last Monday it was 405. This morning it was 189 !!! And I hadn't even taken my medication yesterday. That is amazing to me.
Today's intake:
Pear
Zucchini hummus
Romaine leaves
Pecans
Summer corn salad
I went out at lunch to get some more produce and walnuts. Planning to make the taco meat and RPs brownies tonight :)

Doing JUST fine here in AZ.... went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner with my BF last night and WAS definitely tempted to dish some olives and pepperoncini (old favorites for flavor) onto my pile of greens but ended up topping my salad with shredded squash, cukes, tomatoes, purple cabbage, raisins and oil/vinegar instead.
I think my carefulness at the salad bar made John feel a little guilty, though. He sort of picked at his feta cheese with a sheepish look on his face. LOL

I am on an emotional roller coaster today. Crying jags that seem to come from nowhere and I can't stop them. I'm really working at breathing and allowing rather than stuffing with food (RAW or otherwise).
My only explanation is that it's some kind of emotional detox - and believing that helps a little too. And breaking the emotional ties & stuffing habit is very challenging... so far I'm doing OK though.

Hi Everybody,
I've been really busy and haven't had a chance to check in. I leave tomorrow for Florida and just finished my packing tonight. I packed my Vitamix in its travel case so hopefully it will be OK on the plane - I am going to see if they will put a fragile sticker on it when I get to the airport. I thought about leaving it behind but not quite sure what I'd do if I had to go a week without smoothies (it's funny, but I used to say that about french fries!) :o
I found a raw food restaurant in Tampa so I might check that out if I have time. It's about an hour from where I'm staying so I'm not sure if I'll be able to go with family commitments. I also found the nearest gym so I'm planning to continue my routine while I'm down there.
This is what I had today:
- Wheatgrass
- Coconut water
- Watermelon
- 4 clementines (they were so good)
- chocolate truffle
- carrots
- chocolate covered berries ice cream (still leftover in my freezer from Grezzo)
I'm not sure if I'll be able to check in while I'm traveling, but will definitely be back here on the 16th.
Hope you all enjoy your week!

bsqmurphy - I'm sorry you are feeling bad today. I hope you can just hang in there and work through it. I've gone through the same thing at times, cry my eyes out for just about any reason at all. I'm sure it's part of the detox and you will feel much better tomorrow. Do something nice for yourself, listen to pretty music, take a walk in a park. Or just allow yourself to cry.:)
There seem to be a lot of recipes on the forum today, and I'm sooooo looking forward to get done with my juice fast so I can make some of the delicious foods everybody writes about. In the meantime I'm still 100% RAW.

B: 2 bananas and handful of nuts (all spread throughout the morning while gardening)
L: GS -- baby lettuce, 2 bananas, necterine, stevia ---- these are not my favorite thing in the world, I keep wondering how people claim to really love them - I keep trying - and they make me so sleepy.
Snack: handful of pecans
S: carrot, raisen, sunflower salad
Snack: watermelon till I bust! You know when you've had enough watermelon when you can no longer move. I'm almost there.:o

Have you tried making walnut taco meat? Just process walnuts into small meat like bits then add salt, chili powder, garlic, cumin, maybe cayenne and black pepper if you like them. It is great rolled into lettuce leaf tacos with tomatoes and avacadoes or anything you like in a taco. Its also good layered into a mexican lasagne with zucchini noodles or on flax cracker or bell pepper nachos.

seriously craving chocolate big time!!!!
what do I do??
Have some!=)
My favorites so far are--
--walnuts or pecans in food processor with cocoa, agave or honey, a teeny bit of vanilla and a salt. I usually eat this in a bowl with a spoon, but you could always make it into truffle balls or press it into a cake pan and make it brownies. It is very convincing=)
--chocolate milkshake--almond butter, water, cocoa, honey or agave, vanilla, maca (an aphrodesiac that makes me want to clean house /shrug)
--chocolate sauce--cocoa mixed into honey (it will combine, keep stirring) with the usual vanilla and salt, sometimes coconut oil
this is an excellent dip for strawberries and cherries or to stir nuts into for nutty chocolate candy
--chocolate ice cream--frozen bananas with cocoa, vanilla, honey, salt processed until soft serve consistency..really good with walnuts and more chocolate sauce on top

How about spoiling yourself in some other way?
-Order something decadent like delivered raw meals, really raw almonds, your favorite decadent fruit or that new raw cookbook you don't really need.
-get your hair cut
-let yourself take a nap
-make a really decadent new recipe
My emotional detox was very, very real. I detoxed heartbreak from about 15 years ago in a very real, sharp, freshly heartbroken way--very odd..but I moved through it and really paid attention to what I had shoved under my rug and examined it all as it came out--let myself feel it and gained deep insights into who I am--and was --and want to be. You are very lucky to be emotionally detoxing--pay attention to that sad voice--it has a lot to tell you!=)

Yes, emotional detox is very real and you will feel much "free-er" when it is over so it is good not to "stuff it" and allow it to be released :)
RE: Simply Raw ... I have been following the Raw for 30 Days website since I found out about it almost 2 years ago. I have not ordered the DVD yet, waiting for available $$ to spend on it. However, I did purchase the book, "There is a Cure for Diabetes" which Dr. Gabriel Cousens wrote about that "experiment" (for lack of a better work). I sent my sister, a nurse, the link to website ... she recently became a teaching nurse and often teaches Diabetes Awareness classes. I asked her if she thought the hospital would let her discuss this alternative approach. She told me she ordered the DVD. I haven't heard if she watched it yet, though  so I've been trying to get ahold of her. One of the participants in the Raw for 30 Days is from Grand Rapids, MI ... so I wondered if she would be able to get ahold of him and have him give his testimony ...

I slept in today! Been tired from waking up and rinsing sprouts (VERY humid here, didn't want to risk them getting moldy).
Today I have this plan. The plan is to seriously satisfy this hot/spicy craving I'm having. It's all Taco Bell's fault really. Stupid commercial. So, it's going to involve a napa cabbage leaf, a sunny seed spread (heavy on the garlic), a guac/salsa involving LOTS of jalapeno w/seeds, red onions, and cayenne, and a sandwich sprout mix that's gonna be mixed with the cashew mayo, with more alfalfa and clover sprouts on top all rolled up.
So, what do ya'll think? Think that'll kick the craving in the butt? I'm REALLY hoping it does!:)

Good morning,
Still a non-smoker=) Although , I've recently been seen crying on the bathroom floor in the fetal position, I know I'm not going to smoke ever again.
B-couple bites of cauliflower casserole (review below)
B-lemonade w/ agave (no not fasting, just trying to detox quickly--I want to be the "I never fasted" raw poster child)
L-health food restaurant (not raw but I can make it so)
S-pears
S- spinach gs
D-more cauliflower casserole w/ other vegetables added to it
Okay, I don't think that the nut cheese (insert 6th grade joke here) is the best it could have been.(I still like it but not enough to tell you whats in it!=) Last time I made it I made a liquidy walnut burger sauce ,if you know what I mean, added curry and then strirred it into and over the cauliflower. I liked the curry sauce, but it was very stinky in the dehydrator (mostly the onions I think) so I'm going to try more recipes until I have the one I like. It is very creamy casserolish--not unlike macaroni and cheese if its been awhile. So, I'll let you know if I strike gold.
Jenifae, I haven't seen you post in awhile, are you ok?
I hope you have no pain today!=)

rayofsunshine--I hope you get your digestive tract back in shape soon! I have lots of trouble with mine, always have. It's some better on raw, but my doc says it's excess acid....
shine--I don't know that will satisfy your spice craving, but it sounds like it would keep you full all day long!
thick--you're doing so well! about the cauliflower, does it change texture in the D? Did you try rich cheddar sauce, or alissa's cheese sauce yet?
deberaw--I've got a jicama in the fridge myself, wondering what to do with it. Faux potato salad sounds like just the ticket.
I just got out of the dentist--found out I have to have a crown. :( But the good news is--I had no gum bleeding during the cleaning/flossing. I usually have quite a bit. My hygenist was excited about it. It's got to be the raw vegan!
Last night
D--small spinach salad, tomato, onion, broccoli
S--made a banana/cacao/almond milk smoothie, but couldn't finish it. I was hungry all evening but just couldn't figure what it was I wanted. I have learned to just step away from the kitchen when this is happening. I figure it's probably more about feelings than food, anyway!

Oh Deb, I really want to make those fudge bars now and I'm out of ALMONDS until tomorrow! Not a good place to be. However I think I've DRANK them all as almond milk! Here's what I did to the Rich Cheddar Sauce, it is REALLY good and if you wanted to make it a bit spicy you could blend in a bit of jalapeno pepper (or another you prefer) and it would be GREAT!
Rich Cheddar Dressing (my adaptation)
1 Whole Red Bell Pepper
1 c. water
1 c. raw cashews
1 ½ TB Sesame Seeds
3 TB Nutritional Yeast
2 tsp sea salt
3 tsp onion powder
2 Cloves garlic
3 TB lemon juice
Blend until smooth.

Still have the jicama salad which I love and sooo many tomatoes from our garden....will be using up all that I have Raw within the next couple of days and going grocery shopping prob. Friday....
Also will put in an order for some coco butter....my hfs doesn't carry it..wow...coco oil has gone up here too...maybe I can find a better price online...we'll see.....Have a great Day! Deb

deberaw--did you use Alissa's recipe for the jicama salad and if so, how does the avocado hold up? I've been concerned about making more than 1-2 servings....
Last night D--green smoothie: almond milk, peaches, raspberries, agave (berries were TART!); small seed cracker
S--couple tsp nut butter eaten from the spoon
Just hungry all evening but not for anything I actually had. Too tired to make anything, so just sat and was hungry. Drank a bunch of water. My weight is in a plateau right now and I am quite grumpy and craving all kinds of SAD stuff. I have big plans to distract myself tonight--a walk and/or some time up in my study/studio. It's a pit at the moment.
Today--I have bananas for breakfast. Will go to salad bar for lunch. Dinner will likely be Indian Spinach Dip and veggies, maybe a cracker.
I love my crackers--they are Raw Mineral Rich Crusts and I order them from Matt Monarch's website. There are actually 3 flavors, but this is my favorite, very savory, grain-free, and filling.

Hello all. Missed posting yesterday cause the website was down when I was free.
Yesterday I ate: pears and plums, tomatoes, a handful of pumpkin seeds, bananas and some of my mango/lime/avo pudding. Today I will eat the same stuff, except with a few carrot sticks.
Still processing fruit, still nursing the sick goat and very busy at work.
BUT, I thought I gained back all the weight I lost on last month's challenge (started at 164, ended at 160) and I was so disgusted with myself, having mental dialogues about how I eat too much. But I guess it was pms weight because today (my 3rd day of period) I weigh 158! I live in an old house with uneven floors so I moved the scale all around the bathroom and weighed myself repeatedly to make sure it wasn't lying! :p

Morning everyone, I'm still doing the gs challenge and loving every moment. I'm headed out of town today so I will not be posting again until Monday. I'm taking all my gs food with me along with my blender so I can make my smoothies whenever I'm hungery (my husband bought me an adaptor so I can plug the blender into the car when traveling. He ROCKS!). I'm also going to take along a bag of red grapes for the drive. Have a great week everyone:)

Good morning.
Today is easy, Juice, water, juice, water, Juice, water.;).
I decided to do a juice fast once or twice a week. I've been just doing Fridays, but this week I'm going to the Raw Spirit Festival in Sedona and it starts Friday afternoon, so I will probably only fast half the day. I thought I should do today for sure.

Thick - you are doing awesome, great self-talk! What a testimony you will have! :D
Tuesdays are long days for me. This is the day that our church has our midweek service ... so I leave work and go right to church. For a while, now, I've been making sure to bring extra food with me because I don't want to eat afterward.
Todays intake:
large white-flesh peach
jungle peanuts
tacos - romaine, taco meat, diced tomato, onion, avocado
whole celery heart used to finish the zucchini hummus

Hello.
How is everyone today?
Our weather here is cloudy today and it's kind of depressing. I might make me a GS today. What's everyone putting in their's? What does Indian Spinach dip have in it?
Well, today I have a test in my college algebra class and haven't been studying for that class much. I think I'm overwhelmed with all of these classes, but I want to graduate so bad! So, I am thinking I need to put myself on a schedule to have certain times of the day/week to work on certain subjects like we did in elementary school. Different time blocks for different subjects lol.
I my foods for today will be pretty much the same as usual, all raw.
I've been tired lately. Am wondering if it's the mental load of having so much to do or that I'm still suffering from depression/anxiety that I 've always had. I wonder sometimes if I should take my antidepressants like before but I don't want to put anything else into my body again.
Well, guess it's time for me to make my salad or GS before I get hungry again.

Hello everyone,
Started today with catalope/strawberry juice and had a banana after my walk.
Vaclare79 - I have beeen more tired the last few days, but happy. I feel like the more raw I get, the happier I get. Weird but great. I know you have mentioned you have digestion issues too. My system has been way off and I am having a hard time realing it in. Do you have any suggestions on how to do that with raw food.
Thanks!

I've noticed that too.. I'm tired, but happier. I haven't had the usual blue mood swings I normally get. I feel better & can smell things better now too. I think most people with SAD diets have digestive problems either they don't know it or not. Mine was a problem since I had acid reflux. I just cut out all the SAD and went 100 raw and haven't had much problems with it ever since. :) I just eat simply. Wash up some fruit and eat it just like it is. Or, make a salad when I don't feel like making a green smoothie (GS). There is A LOT of information on this board and support which I've leaned on for the past few months to get through my issues with changing my diet. Just put this website on your to-do list first thing every morning and use the support here that you have. :)

Hi Emma-Liza! I used a recipe from this seasons 'Purely Delicious' magazine...it is similar but the dressing is more ranch like....Here it is...I think it is okay to post because the magazine also supports ALissa and I think the owner of it is/used to be on RFT! {...if I am in trouble for posting this, I am so sorry....won't do it again!}
Faux-Tato Salad
4 C. peeled and diced Jicama
1/2 C. red pepper - chopped
1 C. diced celery
1 large diced avocado
1/4 onion or chives - minced
Put in a large bowl
In Blender:
3 T. tahini
2 T. olive oil
2 T. + 1 tsp. lemon juice
2 T. water
1 tsp. agave
1 1/2 tsp. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. dried dill
3/4 tsp. sea salt
1/2 tsp. yellow saffron {optional}
1/2 tsp. ground mustard
1/4 tsp. white pepper
Pour over salad. Enjoy!
****leave out avo if not serving right away. I only add it right before eating and sometimes don't use it at all. I also didn't use the saffron or white pepper because I didn't have it around....
MMMMM...might need to go get some now!
actually, no, my monthly friend is here and all I feel like are GS and more chocolate fudge bars!!!!!
Val: banana - spinach-water - dash of cinnamon (pineapple or pears if I have them!}
Wonderful about the weight Petal!!!! Yayyy!!!

I've been tired lately.
I've noticed that too.. I'm tired, but happier.
Hummmmmm  I have been too ... Tired and content ... I've been attributing it to the change in the weather. It has been much cooler here and I like fall ...
I have been enjoying the extra sleep, though, since my blood glucose is lower. For so long I have been extremely thirsty, drinking tons of water, and going to the bathroom every 1.5-2 hours ... so sleeping for 6 hours straight has been *wonderful* :p
Todays intake:
banana
jungle peanuts
nectarine
tacos - romaine leaves and taco meat (I need to get more tomato etc.)
RPs brownies
large white flesh peach
pecans

Ok, I'm back to posting on the challenge, stopped after 3 days. Thursday was very busy so I had a green smoothie in the morning, salad at lunch, and water the rest of the day.
Fasted on the weekend, mostly alkaline water with some lemon juice and honey. Sunday evening had some fruit.
Monday and Tuesday were almost similar: green smoothie in the morning, raw pizza for lunch, stuffed portabella mushrooms for dinner.
Today: chocolate nut mylk for breakfast, blended soup for lunch. I'll have a salad in about an hour.
So far so good!

I had a verrrry challenging day. But yet, here I am yellow watermelon smoothie in hand. The short version is my gdsmf husband smoked. And lied about it--I found out form sniffing his hand. But--I didn't smoke. And will not, ever. I did however pout out of the house, walked to get my hair cut (which is making me feel very old and ugly atm) and to the store with the full intention of spending the night in a hotel, spoiling myself rotten. I bought bath stuff, foot scrubbers, magazines, a couple of books (the shining and skinny bitch) and some romaine leaves and avacadoes and a bottle of water for walking to the hotel with.
Then the strangest thing happened. I was browsing the books and opened a bible to Isaiah 54:6-8. Now, I am a very open minded spiritual person and don't claim to know the answers. A student of all , a master of none. But it hit the spot and I walked home instead of the night of extended pouting. Maybe all I needed was the permission to do it, anyway=)
But, I stayed raw and continued to breathe oxygen. Thanks for all the love=)!

Thick- You can be sooooo PROUD of yourself! That's exactly it, you quit smoking for YOU and never start again for YOU. When I finally quit many years ago, my ex was still smoking as well, and it wasn't easy to be around him after he had a cigarette, but I stuck it out. He had to do all his smoking out of the house.
I'm still on my fast, raw juices only.

Didn't manage to post yesterday --- not too happy with myself -- a inhaled too much unraw chocolate -- I only do this once a month, well, okay several days of once a month. Otherwise I was all raw.
Today, breakfast was different. Carrot salad -- there were no ripe bananas in the house.
Lunch -- GS: frozen banana, frozen strawberries, parsley, and 1/4 cup of sunflower seed.
Supper -- cashews, apple,
Snack -- banana, cashews
Dreading tomorrow. . . will be out all day, with a group wanting to go to lunch and I hate eating out! Simple nothing salad of iceberg lettuce does nothing for me!!! I'll pack an apple, banana and nuts and beg off to go to library for the lunch break. Maybe I'll check out some more gardening/landscaping books.

Good morning! Well, I have been struggling with motivation this week as I have company coming next week and a large function that I am helping to plan at the end of next week and I'm PMSing. When I am overwhelmed I would like to just hide under the covers ... but, that is not an option and as I was laying awake in the middle of the night I realized that RAW will help me to get all that I need to get done accomplished.
On to food ... I have my second attempt of Essene bread in the dehydrator and the little taste I took this morning it is MUCH better than my last batch. I'm hoping to get some uncooking done today. Deb, you got those fudge bars in my mind so I will make those. I'm also thinking some ice cream for dessert tonight. I've also been wanting to try Alissa's Beanless Falafel ... so I might give that a try too.
Chippy - Regarding your post from yesterday. There are some yummy, easy and quick ideas on this thread http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=44305 ... also, Alissa's Book is FULL of wonderful recipes and MOST of them are really easy. So, if you don't have her book I would strongly suggest you get that - it really helps.

Thick - you are doing awesome and you didn't even beat your husband up after that ;)
Chippy - when I first found out about raw I followed a basic GS forumla in Alissa's book ... the guy used 1 banana, 2 oranges, and 1/2 c of blueberries (I think) and then I would add whatever greens I had purchased (and some water, of course:rolleyes:). After reading Green for Life I was doing just banana, water, and greens. However, the past month or so (I'm currently waiting for my bananas to ripen) I will soak some dates and some nuts over night and use the date soak water, add the dates and nuts to the blender, add a banana, some frozen blueberries, some ground flax (right now I'm using up the Seeds of Life mixture I purchased), some cacao powder (I don't use this every day tho), and some cinnamon (it's good for us and adds a different dimension - especially when I put too much in [think red hot fire balls] lol). I blend that up good and then add the greens. If it is too thick I add more water. It makes a blender full so I'll have some before I leave the house and then bring the rest with me in a container so I can have it later in the day.
Todays food:
banana

tacos - romaine, taco meat, salsa
peach

thick/anyone who needs to evacuate now or in future, if you want to come this far north (and during Gustav, there were MANY who did!) we have a guest room and can take dogs. (No cats. They would survive the storm and likely not survive my Bouviers.)
During the runup to Gustav, I encountered a couple in the grocery looking at brown rice choices and pondering long and out loud. I picked mine out and moved on. Next aisle, they had decided I might Know Something, so asked me my opinion about some food choices they had in their cart. Evidently, a Katrina evacuee was returning to their home and he was a "health nut" (quotes indicate snide tone!) so they needed supplies. The organic Lundberg brown rice was cheaper than even the store brand organic, so that is what I had chosen. They had picked a nonorganic national brand (which happens to be grown locally, so I had no problem! :)). I asked if their guest was a vegetarian and they said no, but he had written a "health book" and ate a lot of fruit.... Anyway, they wanted to know if they had gotten the right salmon (domestic). I said no, they should get wild. It wasn't available at that store, so I told them not to tell him. (oh, shoot me now!) He'd know though; it's dyed.

My favorite desserts (can't pick just one) are Alissa's fudgy balls and marin mom's vanilla ice cream.
Cherriepie - I have been more tired than ususaly during much of this month. I do think it is detox.
Emma-Liza

cherrypie--I struggle a lot with nausea. My mom has the same problem, and I guess we just have a lot of stomach acid or something. It is not detox--but it is worse when I'm eating raw.
Many many days I am both very hungry and very nauseated, so it is mighty difficult to figure out what to do! This is when I used to go for saltines! :(
My best advice is: if you can wait to eat, do so. However, if you are starving, eat just a little and wait a few minutes to see if it settles. Maybe start with a half a banana or apple or a few almonds, then start your meal a few minutes later. This almost always works for me, and if it doesn't, I figure I must not need to eat right then.
In my case, I feel it's from letting my stomach get truly empty, which is a discipline I'm choosing. So I put up with it, for the most part. You also could see if eating more snacks/dividing up your meals/grazing helps....

Cherrypie and Emma-Liza - have you ever tried to put a bit of fresh ginger in your smoothies or juices, or make a tea with fresh ginger? It helps a lot with nausea.
Thick - I hope everything comes out alright for you and your dog
I'm still raw, 100%. Back to normal juice fasting, now that my colon and liver detox are over.:D

I'm hoping to make a pizza in a little while......out of bananas so had soaked oat groats with fruit and almond milk this morning...okay....bit chewy though...also ate 1/2 yellow watermelon...mmmm good...missing my GS...so will go get some bananas in a little bit......make a great Raw Day! warmly, Deb

deberaw--about the oat groats--I soak for 2 days in water (put in the fridge for the second day)--drain water, add almond milk, put in a mini chopper or stick a stick blender in and buzz them up a bit. Makes them a lot easier to chew and really releases the oat flavor. The first time, I noticed they were much softer after the second day than after just one day of soaking.
Last night
D--simple salad with 1/2 box of spinach, 1/2 large tomato, mushroom slices, scallion, lemon and oil dressing
I had cooked a meal for Mr.Liza and I was just tired of being in the kitchen, so I didn't make a recipe for myself as I had planned. I was not superenthused about that salad, but as soon as I started eating it, I realized it was perfect and exactly what I wanted. I wonder if I'm getting a desire for simpler foods already?
Skipped breakfast and I'm going out for lunch. Will check back in later.

Last night I made egg-less egg salad, jalepeno burger, and chocolate pudding.
Today's food:
GS - 2 soaked dates, handful of soaked almonds, banana, peach, frozen blueberries, scoop of Super Seed (fiber mixture from Garden of Life), cinnamon, and romaine. Made a big batch so I had some for breakfast and I'll have some before I leave work (going to a movie after work).
Peach
Egg-less egg salad on romain leaves
Jalepeno burger on celery
Chocolate pudding
Banana
Apple
That's a lot of food today. I think I was a bit hungry yesterday so I've overcompensated today. However, I came in to work an hour early and will be leaving 2 hrs later and then going to a movie (I have the apple in my purse to eat in the theater if necessary) so I wanted to make sure I was full so as not to be tempted by the smells at the theater ...

Hello everyone. I'm feeling brighter today. I got some more fruit picked last night and started some fruit leathers. I feel like my mama goat's finally coming out of the woods health-wise. I would have been torn up if she died. For a whole week she would only eat and drink if I was with her, which had me scared silly because I am one of two people where I currently work (will be moving to a different location soon) and the only one with a key. I can't just not show up or even take a lunch away from here so I can make sure she's eating and drinking. Yesterday I got a lot of probiotics and vitamin c in her and I injected her twice with a vitamin b complex previously. Last night I saw she had drunk some while I was gone and this morning she was up eating before I even went in the barn. I've been giving her the blemished pears and she loves them more than weeds, apples, hay or other more traditional goat foods.
Last night I ate some of the pears I was processing. This am I ate more pears. Brought buckwheaties, plums, carrots, a bowl of greens and tomatoes for lunch. I'm surprised I'm not bored yet. But maybe it's because I've been super busy.

Petal - So glad to hear mama goat is on the mend.
LittleBirdie - Welcome! You will find so much support and encouragement here!
Deb - I'm so glad you like the sauce modification... WE are on our second jar full for this week and it's almost gone, we are eating it on EVERYTHING! I'm thinking about pouring it into rounds on a teflex sheet and seeing if it will dehydrate for slice cheese ... hmmmm.
Today has been a busy day for me, my refrig is restocked with all sorts of produce. I made chocolate ice cream for dessert tonight and I'm hoarding some in the fridg for after the kids are in bed - I'm so BAD! I also tried ORGANIC grapes for the first time today - such a BIG difference! They are soooo good.
My prayers continue to go out to Thick and her family and all those on the Gulf coast.

Hi all. I just noticed that I did not post yesterday. And I always post so late. Today I had:
B: 2 bananas and handful of almonds
L: GS - baby lettuce and 2 pears
Snack: nuts of some source, I already forgot which ones.
S: 2 nectarines, handful of nuts
Snack: banana and cashews
I do eat simple. I use to create all the wonderful recipes I could find, but find that that no longer interest me. In fact, I am finding it hard to cook for my family. They get lots of salads. It is too hot and muggy to be in the kitchen these days. We are trying to keep the house opened since the temp is in the 80's, but the humidity is also in the high 70's, so it is muggy. . . thanks to Ike. I am in TX, but on the TX/OK border, amazing how we too are catching some of Ike's moisture and even preparing for massive rains.
This town had major flooding last year and even several weeks ago quite a few homes were flooded when the clouds dumped in excess of 7" in 24 hours.
Take care all!

Good morning! Happy Saturday :D
I am working today, it is raining outside so I'm not missing anything ...
I did not eat the pudding and banana yesterday so I will be eating that today ... I did eat the apple during the movie though and I wasn't too tempted from the movie theater *smells* ... my friends were saying, "Wow, Lorie, what self control." and I said, "It's my choice, I knew that 'just a little' would have derailed me and I am focused on staying raw for 30 days" :D
Todays food:
GS - 2 c water, handful of unsoaked walnuts, 2 bananas, 1 scoop Super Seed, 2 t cacao powder, cinnamon, romaine, and agave nectar (not much, I needed a little more sweetness, I didn't plan well or I would have soaked 2 dates and the walnuts)
Egg-less egg salad on romaine leaves
Chocolate pudding with banana slices

Good morning all! I've got a busy day today, passed out some flyers for our upcoming event, I've got a haircut for my dd and myself after lunch, hubby is out helping one of his co-workers moving and I would like to make it to a local flea market that I just discovered (maybe after the haircut?). I think I might try some almond/walnut butter stuffed, chocolate covered dates for dessert tonight. Anyway ...

Way to go Girlsmiley!!! Wow what strides you've made with your weight loss too! You are doing super! It's raining here too...and have you seen the gas prices???Eeeeek!
I made ALissa's easiest pizza last night and the house smelled so good! I wasn't lovin the cheese when I first made it, but it is good dehydrated...I think it was the Braggs that threw me off...I also made a sauce w/o dates because that was too sweet for me.....and I topped it with sliced zucchini, onion, yellow tomatoes and basil...it is sooo gooood! I know it will be gone by tomorrow!
So today....slice of pizza and carrot apple juice!
Will be making something with pulp or eating it as it with a bit of agave and raisins and cinnamon.....

It's a hot, sunny day in blues city. As most Fridays go, I spent last night with my niece and this morning, my SIL made a beautiful fruit plate for me--grapefruit, pear, and strawberries. We ate on the porch with the baby looking on. Just in the last week, she has started to grab our hair, ears, and noses. Cute, but, OW!
Last night D--avocado, tomato, red butter lettuce salad with lemon and oil
S--1/3 c trail mix (didn't quite finish this--it's a bit coconutty and fills me up)
Today B--fruit
No idea about lunch and dinner, most likely salads and a seed cracker or two.
After dinner, I'm going to use my new Champion to make some banana ice cream. :)

Lorie--awesome job at the movies! That would be really difficult for me, but your attitude is great!
deberaw--I just hate Braggs! I bought some, used it once, and gave the whole bottle away! Nama shoyu tastes really great to me, better than any soy sauce I've gotten at the grocery, anyway! So that's what I always substitute.
mihatay--did you make your nut butter in a juicer or a vitamix? did you have to add oil? salt? I really want to make some myself!

I'm beginning to sound like a broken record: still raw, still juice fasting.
I didn't tell you about my lucky shopping day yesterday. I went to my regular farm store and picked up a total of 45.5 pounds of peaches, plums and pears for $16.96. That works out to be 37 cents a pound. Most of them were still firm with just a few spots on the outside. I put them all through my Omega juicer with the blank cone in it, so I basically made fruit sauces that I froze in quart size zip-lock bags. Will make great smoothies this winter.
Happy Saturday All! Hope Thick and everybody made it through the hurricane all right.

Emma-Liza - Nut Butter ... this is what I did. I put three handfuls of almonds and three handfuls of walnuts in my Vita Mix. With the Vita Mix on HIGH I pulsed it on and off until the nuts were like powder, then I added a little but of EVOO and about 2 TB Honey and a couple pinches of salt. Then I processed on Low and upped the speed until it stopped moving - repeat until desired consistency.
Deb - I'm drooling thinking about pizza ... I've been too chicken to try making a pizza yet but I know it will be in my future.
I'm tired tonight but feeling pretty good. I'm thinking I have a fast of some sort coming up in the next couple of weeks or so ... Maybe the MC.

Hi all,
I can't post here without thinking of Thick. Probably she's in Houston without electricity. I'm just hoping all is well for her aside from that inconvenience and discomfort.
BF and I made a Lasagne from Raw Food Real World last night. I was biting into it and thinking "This just explodes with flavor," when BF said "The flavors just explode in your mouth." So it was yummy and I cleaned my plate (ate too much, in other words). Actually I had a small helper in cleaning my plate. Pepper the Senegal Parrot really liked it, too.
Afterward, I put up food while BF loaded the dishwasher. He must've ranted for 15 minutes about the poor design of my dishwasher. That was actually pretty entertaining as well.

I have been 100% raw through August and now Sept. it makes it easier for me that way. today I am going to go visit a friend, I planned what to take yesterday. I had my green smoothie this morning and packed some onion bread and a tomato, cucumber and some basil to top it with later while visiting. I also plan to eat a salad at some point so I am going to stop at the store and get some fresh lettuce avocado and stuff. I will pick up some fresh fruit too for my green smoothie in the morning since I am staying with my BF tonight. I am thinking about getting one of those coolers you can plug into the cigarette lighter port in the car so when I am out things will stay nice. sometimes I will get extra or can't eat it all at the raw restaurant and it would be nice to take it with me without it wilting. Have a lovely day!

Hi everybody,
I'm worried about Thick, too. I know that a lot of people are without electricity. She may not have a choice but eat cooked stuff. I just hope there are no stores open to get cigarettes. I know it's very hard to not smoke so soon after quitting, when you find yourself in a super stressful situation. I keep sending her good thoughts and wishes.
I am still juice fasting. It's soooo easy, but yesterday it really bugged me that I keep dumping all the pulp into the compost. My worms can't keep up any more. So I soaked various nuts and seeds over night and mixed it all up this morning with carrot pulp, peach nectar, honey, spices, etc. and made cookies. I think I'm calling them Carrot Spice Cookies. They are dehydrating now and I will wait until they are done, before posting the recipe. I really enjoy developing recipes myself. (You won't hear about it, if they suck!:p)
I wish all you great people a wonderful rest of this Sunday!

Greetings...just checkin in...not doing too great... I am being treated in-patient at our hospital for an infected cat bite that occured when I tried to move our cat across the basement away from our excited dog and chaos ensued.....cat ended up having to get stitches hours and $$$$ later...and will be okay...but she bit me hard on my thumb, above the joint. It is a very swollen and red and etc. and I have to have I.V. antibiotics and probably a procedure to open it up and irrigate it. We had a tornado touch down nearby and the sirens were blasting outside when this all happened....it was crazy...hubby at work and all.......
It is very very hard to be away from my family and our routine but I know we will all weather it ok.
The hospital has a great room service menu..options for fruit and veggies and vegan stuffs...I'm not that hungry....funny, last night when all had calmed down...all I wanted was my raw pizza and fruit! That felt great for me...today has been about 50% Raw....I am anxious to get home and back to my family and routine and Raw!!!!!! sigh....Deb

miahtay and saxmaam--mine is an African grey. He sits on my shoulder at breakfast time and if he wants any of what I'm having, he lowers his head and waits for me to hand it to him. He's totally picky, though, so he doesn't ever want a lot! His faves are almonds, cashews, melon of any kind, cherries, blackberries, and raspberries. He will, over the course of the day, eat most any fruit or veggie I put in his bowl, except citrus. He does not eat any of it!
EmmaT--you could easily give Max your veggie pulp! I don't give my dogs too much fruit, a little apple occasionally, but they get fresh vegetables everyday. They are food-processed with some other ingredients so they are digestible in their short digestive tracts. I think I remember you feed raw....
I had gorgeous juice for breakfast, made with my brand new champion juicer! Cleaned out the fridge and made a fruit punch (becoming a Sunday tradition, made even better by the juicer I was gifted with!) Putting mango and peach in makes it thick and scrumptious!
Lunch was exquisite--a tapenade of olives, basil, and walnuts on spinach leaves with grape tomatoes and celery crescents. Sort of like little finger sandwiches.
Dinner was a planned deviation for my birthday. I don't care much about holidays like christmas or easter, but oh how I love birthdays! So back when I first went raw, I chose it for a deviation day. Glad to have had it, but not sorry to be going on with raw. It's all good!

Deberaw - I sure hope you get better quickly so you get to go back home to your babies. I was once bitten through the thumb nail by my sister's cat when we tried to force-medicate her. Luckily it didn't get infected. Now MY cat couldn't do that....he's Kodie the toothless wonder!, but boy he has some severely dangerous claws

Maybe we can get a Parrot forum going here! I also have a little Parrotlet. He rides on my shoulder as I fix my food for the day. Sometimes he runs down my arm when he gets interested in what I'm preparing. Then I'm supposed to stop what I'm doing and hold the item for him.

Oh DEB! I'm SO sorry... how long do they anticipate you will have to be on IV antibiotics? My prayers are with you. The whole scenario you described must have been very stressful.
WOW - lots of bird owners! I don't dare let my macaw eat off my plate - HE has NO manners he would be sitting in the middle of the plate and it would be ALL HIS! His favorite is GS and boy is that a mess - lol! He literally sticks his WHOLE beak in. Here's one of my favorite quotes:
She was not quite what you would call refined. She was not quite what you would call unrefined. She was the kind of person that keeps a parrot.

Not sure about food yet for today I need to use up some stuff. Last night hubby went and picked 3 5gal. buckets of pears at our friend's house so, maybe some juicing is in store for me today :)

Deberaw - how are you doing today? Will you get to go home, or are you already home?
Thick - you continue to be in my prayers, hope to *see* you soon ...
I have a church leadership meeting after work today, in another city (Lansing, MI) where the main church is located, so I brought extra food so I can eat before I head out of town.
Today's food:
GS - dates, walnuts, bananas, Super Seed, cacao, cinnamon, romaine
Egg-less egg salad on romaine leaves
Lots of celery
Jalapeno Burger (which I left as a pate and will put it on the celery)
At home I have spicy Italian flax seed crackers in the dehydrator and almonds soaking which will go in the dehydrator tonight.

I feel like it's been forever since I've been online! I guess it's been about a week. Anyway it's been a busy week. I got a 2nd foster daughter Labor Day weekend so it's been a little hectic learning new schedules, running them to sports and appts (which seem never ending), and just getting to know each other. I have 2 foster daughters now (and my own 4 yr old boy), and it's kind of entertaining sharing my foods with them, new recipes etc.
The new girl has tried several things that she has given me grimaces for and even spit a couple out (politely lol!), but she does keep on trying which is nice. She has counseling with her family twice a week and at the next one, they are having a pot luck type thing, so she is going to bring something. Without any input from me, she has chosen to take avocado fries (http://rawinspiration.blogspot.com/2007/06/avocado-fries.html). I made them for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and she loved them! Actually both the girls loved them and avocados in general. I just wish they weren't so expensive!
So, I am staying on track. Been a little tough energy wise... fatigued more days than not, but I feel my energy starting to rise again. I think it's mostly from everything that's been going on.

Hello everyone.
I'm sitting here eating sunflower seeds as I'm typing this. I've been doing alright lately just tired and I think it's my bedtime schedule or lack of one that is what's wrong with me. Also, I have been going to classes but I need a schedule on which I need to put myself to do homework. Am going to work on that today. I love this forum. It's like my community support group.
I hope everyone has weathered the storms lately OK.
I'm going grocery shopping today. I normally go different places for different things which has been driving me insane and is just tedious. I still have yet to go to a Farmer's Market to check them out. I might go on Wed to the one near my class.
That's interesting how a lot of you have birds. I have never had one. Only have a black lab Daisy now that I gave my cat away. :)
I need to start working out somewhat. I have flabby arms and my legs were sore since Friday when I was painting and working on the wallpaper.. I'm so out of shape!!!
I've been watching tv lately ( I need to quit that too ) and I've been watching the stupid commercials they have for meat and dairy products. It just annoys me how people don't realize what crap they're eating!
Ate a bunch of strawberries yesterday. They were good. Also, been eating broccoli chopped up really fine with some EVOO, ACV, and garlic and it's been really good. Going to get some more of it. :) I know my breath must be stinking though!
I'll be raw today 100% again. Am eating fruits for lunch and dinner will be salad. I'll snack all day on different fruits and vegetables. :)

Annavon, you must tell us about the festival! Details, details!
I was feeling stressed dealing with too many chores and a sick goat, but on retrospect, maybe my weekend wasn't so bad as Deberaw's and Thick's and was really only stressful because I wanted to put my feet up and didn't have time.
Anyway, back at work, got some good news that my job isn't on the chopping block (another thing that's been in the back of my head since there's been a lot of that going on lately).
I ate too much over the weekend. All raw, but that's how I deal with stress still. I do better at work because I bring food with me and that's what I eat. I don't let myself go out and buy stuff. So this morning I weigh 160 again but I imagine like last week the extra couple pounds will be gone in a couple days.
Over the weekend I made a bunch of pureed fruit and leathers for the freezer. I intended to make a pear crepe with the leathers and a cashew cream sauce for the girls who were at the house. I never did so I totally hijacked Alissa's spinach dip recipe and tossed three several cups of soaked cashews into the blender along with the dip and then it didn't taste like much so I added basil, garlic and a few other things. So now I have about a gallon of spinach dip and am wondering what to do with it. Sheesh. Should have just put the cashews in the fridge.
This morning I drank a pinapple/banana smoothie. I brought a peach, a pear, a dozen plums, an apple and a small container of dip and celery.
Emma-Liza
09-15-2008, 11:02 AM
ncadotte--it's great you're giving the girls the most healthy foods. it has had such a good effect on my ability to handle stress...I hope it gives them the same advantage.
This morning I made green smoothie with raspberries, peaches, spinach, flax seed, hemp seed, and green powder. It's good but seedy. I never notice seeds in the raspberries I eat, but put 'em in a smoothie and suddenly they are taking over!
For lunch, I brought a yummy salad my stepmother brought me last night. It's grated beets with an orange dressing. You put it over greens and sprinkle with pistachios. She's excited that I'm doing raw b/c she did a few years ago for several months and she loved the food. She knows lots of recipes. She's not raw now; I think it was a lot of trouble the way she did it. She has a juicer that's the size of a commercial espresso machine. It is all metal outside and has fabric screens. It's a bear to clean.
okay, back to work!

petal--could the spinach dip be a pasta sauce? a layer for a lasagna? a filling for mushrooms? could it be dehydrated into a crepe or a sheet of "pasta?" I'm starting to sound like the "Could your ears hang low?" song. :D

Oh my Raw friends! You are all so sweet and cheer me up! ....I am feeling better despite no sleep last night....my hand looks much better and the infection has receded......I am still on I.V. antibiotics thru this afternoon and will go home late afternoon/early evening......no procedure at this point to open it all up and irrigate the wound...it is healing nicely....Thank You for your support! {sometimes I think about how we [especially me maybe?] divert from Raw talk on this Raw challenge!}.......I appreciate all of you!:D
I love birds and would love to have one....maybe when we don't have cats and dogs though!
My husband made banana ice-cream for my MIL last night....the kids love it too....but she kept asking what was in it and didn't feel right having seconds because it tasted too good..............!
Make a great Raw day and I'll be back with ya'll in a day or 2....LOVE, Deb
Oh! My order from Allisa Cohen {coco butter and carob} should be in today! and I also recently ordered some sea veggies from Rising Tide.....and in the middle of the night I found Raw Coconut flour on Wilderness {something_______}....they have lots of coconut oils.....Raw coco flour sounds intriguing to me....hmmmmmm
I wanted to try Raw carob because I hear it is calming whereas cacao is stimulating, I know the taste is different....not sure what I am going to make yet with it....but I'd love a spoonful of the coconut butter...mmmmmmm:rolleyes:

As long as the dip isn't bouncing from the ceiling...
I tried it on zucchini and it is good that way. Hadn't thought about in mushrooms. That's a good idea. Dehydrate them a little and then freeze a bunch in small containers for appetizers and snacks!

OMG, me too! Did you ever listen to any of the Dr Demento radio shows? I was a free dj for a year on the late night show for a radio station and played whatever I wanted. There was at least one ridiculous song an hour. Did you ever hear the Rooster song? We had a gum tree, no gum she gave... and then the rooster came in the yard...she's giving chicklets, just like she used to... we had a cow, no milk she gave... and then the rooster came in the yard... she's giving egg nog, just like she used to... etc etc Or the song "Fish Heads?" I should lead a kids campfire song session.

Hi=)
I'm glad to be back and I am super lucky to be one in a million to have power. We have a newer house that has underground power lines. However, we were at my Dad's house for a couple of days without power.
We didn't have any major damage (thank you for all your prayers!--raw foodist prayers are powerful=) but there are so many houses with pine trees through them and streelights and telephone poles down or leaning over on power lines. Some stores are open where we live--but only selling "non-perishable" (read=dead) items.
The universe smiled on me though----we went shopping in a gas station, and while my husband bought frito pie stuff and chocolate doughnuts--I was able to find "raw" almonds, a bunch of bananas and a whole watermelon!!! Wtf? A watermelon at a gas station? Thank you!!
Thanks for thinking about me!
B- skipped it..or did I fast?=)
L-watermelon
S-almonds
D-walnut burgers (hey, I do have power) w/tomatoes

Btw, have you heard about the mandatory curfews in my area? Talk about big brother, "Let me see your papers"--You are only allowed outside if you have the correct "credentials" and can prove you are going to work. A free American woman shouldn't fear the police state while walking outside after 7pm. I fear the precendent this sets.=/

my food choices start to get a little bit boring, sine I don't have a dehydrator yet but I am in the process of getting one soon.
Feeling good, but I haven't lost any weight so far-which is a quite frustrating.
Anybody any ideas out there????
I am not going mad with fat and I am not starving myself either.
the nice thing is that my 5year old doughter is getting more and more interessted into raw food. she always liked salads, fuits and greens but today she asked for a big green salad with nuts and tomatoes for lunch and she ditched her wheatabix for green smoothie for breakfast- i just love her:) now i only need to get her brother and her pasta addicted daddy on board:D

Thick - Hurrah for underground power lines, gas stations with water melon, and Free American Women! I'm so glad you are back. It sounds like the area is quite a mess. I lived in Houston for a year, 1977. I think the street was called Antoinne? I also lived in Biloxi and Gulfport, MS for a couple of years and while there, made it through a hurricane with the help of a bottle of wine.:D
Ncadotte - It's so great of you to take in foster kids. I'm sure it is not easy to deal with the problems some kids bring with them from their home environment, but it sounds like you are doing a great job.
Today I had a nasty green juice, which contained spinach, celery, and cucumber. I think the cucumber was extremely bitter, which made the juice taste awful. I just drank it down really fast. For lunch I had several juiced tomatoes and a couple of red bell peppers, which I heated a little over hot water. I mixed in some miso, and after eating this very delicious "soup" I realized, that this could hardly be considered a "fasting juice". Oh well...I went right back to my juice fast later today with some fantastic grape juice.

Good morning :D
My GS this morning tastes delicious! I think romaine is a bit bitter and today I used spinach ... 3 c water, 2 soaked dates, handful soaked cashews, 2 bananas, scoop Super Seed, cinnamon, frozen blueberries, spinach.
I brought my flax seed crackers in and have been sharing ... they are a bit spicy because of the red pepper flakes yet they are delicious! One woman asked me for the recipe. She already uses flax, and has a dehydrator, so I shared what I did and she's going to go home and make some herself :D
I have celery left over from yesterday yet no more pate etc. to put on it. I also have the last of the RP brownies with me ... I will probably hit up the salad bar in the cafeteria, they have a good selection of cut up veggies and fruit on there.
Have a great day 16 everyone!

Today is my wedding anniversary. Instead of going out to dinner, Mr.Liza wants to go to Whole Foods and get ingredients for juicer and dehydrator recipes (these appliances were recent birthday presents from my family). What a guy!
Last night: not too hungry, snacked on some trail mix, later an apple, and even later a chunk of seed cracker.
Today: nibbling on some almonds for breakfast. Will hit the salad bar for lunch. If we go to Whole Foods after work, I'll get the salad bar there, too!

Today I am beginning the massive undertaking of moving. I have been working at it for awhile now, but I'm getting very serious as of today. I'm going to attack closets today ruthlessly weeding. There is no better time to give to the women's crisis center than this week when so many kids have lost all there toys and books and so many plumper women won't have any clothes to wear from slim pickins (pun int) at the shelters. So, with double the incentive, I'm off to work!

Last night I ate a big dish of tomaotes from my garden, celery seeds, zucchini and the creamy spinach dip I made. Then I went and picked weeds for the sick goat, came back in and processed more pears and made some tomato sauce that is to live for (and yes, I sneaked a pear into it! :D)
Did I tell y'all my dog found the skunk again yesterday morning? Yep, he came in and rubbed his stinky head all over my bedroom floor. This morning my bedroom still smelled, despite leaving the windows open all day and night.
This am I ate pears and strawberries from my garden. I packed celery, tomato sauce, spinach dip, salad and plums for lunch.

Super Seed is a fiber supplement from Garden of Life (http://www.gardenoflifeusa.com/ProductsforLife/SUPPLEMENTS/DigestiveHealth/SuperSeed/tabid/644/Default.aspx). I read Jordan Rubin's book, "Perfect Weight America" at the recommendation of our Pastor's wife. When I went to the HFS I saw they were prominently displaying his products so I grabbed some. It has ground flax in it, chia seeds, sprouts etc. I don't know if I will buy it again. I have one scoop left :) I will most likely just go back to using ground flax in my smoothies.
I've eaten almost all my flax seed crackers! They just taste so good. Betcha my innards will be clean as a whistle soon ... lol ... with the Super Seed in my smoothie, flax crackers, and celery

Yes, but I was at my Dad's house--so it was kinda fun to be together without him watching tv. My area had power turned on much earlier than everyone in Houston. Everyone I know in Houston still has no power. There are so many visiting relatives on my street it looks like someone is having a huge party!=)

I'm also dosing on garlic to help heal my VERY brief bought with sore throat/fatigue. :D
Overall, I'm still doing way better than all my poor SAD friends on campus who are so sick it's scary... :D And I NEVER had to go see a doctor!!!! NOPE!!! Not gonna waste THAT money!!! ;)

good morning all :)
I have a water melon waiting to be sliced open, a couple nectarines that i smell every time i walk by the fruit bowl, and a fridge full of snap peas that i will be munching on today.
My one year only daughter loves all these foods, more than sad desserts! so i will be sharing the pleasure with her :) she makes it easy for me to be raw, and it helps me be accountable because i want her to stay this way!!
have a great day!

thick--I think the hurricane has made you even funnier than you were! So so proud of you for not smoking.
Thanks for all the well-wishing yesterday! We have become such simple folk--Whole Foods salad bar and a bit of grocery shopping was our evening out! :p It was cool enough for a jacket, so the dogs could come along.
I made some sweet potato chips with nut. yeast and some beanless falafel overnight in new D. Chips are okay, but not as crunchy as I would like. All the time they were dehydrating, I kept thinking they smelled like hot dogs. They even taste a little like that. The falafel are not even quite holding together this morning, so I turned the temp to 95 and left them for the day. Hopefully, they won't be tough little clods when I return home this evening. The batter was delish!
So, to catch up on the food log:
Yesterday
L--ended up being a fabu salad combo: mixed greens, strawberries, red onion, grated beet, balsamic/oil dressing
S--banana with almond butter (LOTS of almond butter) :o
D--salad bar salad: spring mix, cabbage, tomato, onion, peas, green olives
S--bits of sweet potato chips and falafel batter
Today
I brought a bunch of grapes and a banana and half my cheesy chips (1/2 small sweet potato). Will hit the salad bar for lunch and also add from my stash in the fridge some grated beets.
Supper should contain another salad with tomato, onion, and falafel. Also, cucumber if it's still good. Lemon/tahini dressing, of course!

I am still here, just extremely busy, and right now, just trying to find some peace. I just found out that 2 out of my 3 children have scoliosis of the lower back. Luckily, my chiropractor cares more about kids than about money, so, since I'm under care, he's offered to do theirs for free. It's just hard not to worry is all.
So far today I've had a banana. I got some grapefruits yesterday, so I'll be having at least one of them in a bit.
I'm going to make almond mylk and sesame mylk later. I'm also going to make a couple of dressings. I'll make banana bread tonight so it'll be ready for breakfast in the morning.
Ooh! I was at the farmer's market yesterday, and the radishes jumped out at me. I turned around and there they were. I used to LOVE eating radishes with salt in my sad days. I was so excited to see my old friends, so I got a bunch. I will SO be gobbling them up later! I'll probably be making a corn salad either later today, or tomorrow, not sure which yet.
So, how are ya'll doing?:)

Good morning!
Last night I enjoyed some dehydrated spinach dip and tomato sauce on crimini mushrooms (thank you, Emma-Liza!). They looked and tasted superb.
I also ate some more pears I was processing.
This morning processed and ate more pears. I also made pear/cardamom puree and brought some with me to work. I'm slurping it down now. Pears are yummy, but they aren't that filling, which is I guess ok since I have a whole heck of a lot of them still on my trees and on a table in the office and it won't exactly kill my budget to eat more of them. If I thought I could stand it, I'd eat pears all day every day for a week. I also brought to work: 10 more damn plums, some more of that damn spinach dip (wish I'd bought more mushrooms to stuff with it) and some more damn celery and some more damn pear puree. Grrrrrrrr.... I need to get this stuff all GONE so I can have some variety.

Yep, radishes with salt is one of my favorites, too.
I've decided that I want REAL food again (no, not THAT kind of food), so I'm getting off my fast slowly. Today so far I had a mango/spinach smoothie. The rest of the day will juice watermelon or maybe eat it, and this evening tomato soup.
Three cheers for Thick for being a non-smoker for life!

Hello All!
Petal....I'll take some of that food off your hands!......maybe can trade....I'll give you the sundried tomato sauce and raw cheese in my fridge {but not the cheese dressing hee-hee}......
Shine72.....my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your kids...it is soooo stressful when health things affect our kids, especially bone ones etc.....breathe....what a Blessing your chiropractor is so wonderful....as it all settles in, you may connect with other parents going thru the same thing and find your way...peace....
My kids are enjoying more and more Raw in their foods......and learning a lot about nutrition too....
annnnddd...I am soooo excited! I won a bid on EBAY for a commercial Vita-Mix, 5200....I am happy with the price {288 total} but a bit anxious to get it...it is less than 2 years old and was used for smoothies exclusively. Apparently too the owner said the blender container never looks clean even when clean because of the material it is made from...? hmmm....the ads for the Vitamix all look like they have clear containers....but...oh well...my main concern is how it works...I was fretting last night wondering if I should have just ordered from Vitamix.....uh, oh well, hopefully it isn't too expensive a lesson....we did get our Champion on EBAY and it works great.......
going to make dressings too today.....GS.....may make another pizza...I really should...I have extra sauce and cheese {that is, if Petal doesn't want it...!}...okay off to see what's in the kitchen......Deb

I have that same problem with the container for my Vita-Mix 5000. I don't let it bother me though.
Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. I guess having to deal with autism wasn't enough huh?;)

Shine, I just looked at your rawtism site. I wondered how much raw would help. Good for you, spreading the word!!!
Deb, by the time I got you the pears and plums all the way to Michigan, they'd be bad. I gave some to my mom and her friends and some to both of my neighbors. Normally I'd have help picking and processing, but with my son moved out, my mother sick and my boyfriend across the country, I'm at it alone. :( My daughter's here, but it's easier to not even ask. Makes me feel sad for my grandmother, who used to preserve fruit and veggies until her three daughters moved out and she was stuck w/ an abusive husband until he died. She was very lonely, I think. We all moved far away. Understandings like these don't kick in sometimes until we are much older. At least I understood in time to move closer to my mom. :o
