View Full Version : Help! Limp kale chips

I finally made kale chips after everyone raved about them and whoa they were so rawsome! :D But I found that after storing them in a tightly sealed container they become limp and extremely chewy. I LOVED them right out of the dehydrator and so did everyone else. (As a side note, I could have eaten it all before it went into the dehydrator!)

So my obvious question is...How do you keep them from going limp? Has anyone had this experience?

It happens...just pop them right back into the dehydrator and they'll crisp back up. But I usually store them out because they get eaten up so quickly but you may want to try storing in the fridge if they're gonna be around for a little bit.

Mine don't last too long around my house -- actually dh sneaks them out of the D before they're done -- and when I open the dehydrator - and find there's only one kale chip left on the tray... dh quickly defends himself..."I only had a couple!" .... hmmmmm.....

on the very rare occassions when I've been able to save a few -- I found that the humidity here in Hawaii made the once fabulously crispy kale chips quite... well - limp... :( ...

I posted the same question as you - and Rawkinlocs is so right -- popping them back into the D will crisp them right up again...

Thanks for your replies. I have put them back in the D to crisp them back up again and they're just as good; however, I'd like to take them with me for a snack. I guess we'll just have to eat them at home, unless there's a trick to it.

Yep, just pop back in the dehydrator and they will crisp back up. I've had no problems putting mine into ziplock baggies (which I use over and over and over again - I haven't bought any in years) and they stay crisp.

Love 'em!!!

So who has a good recipe for these delights? I had some at a raw food potluck recently and they were divine!

I just leave mine in a ziploc not closed. That said they only last a day or two at most.
