I know there are tons of green smoothie recipes out there, but almost all of them contain fruit and I would like to make more of a vegetable one or I guess a savory one. I'm afraid if I throw cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and greens in there it's going to taste like crap. So, I just wanted to know if anyone has a really good non-fruit or mostly non-fruit green smoothie recipe that is really good. I'm figuring lemon or lime might be in it, but I want to make a really good vegetable one.

Thanks!

You could look on the ingredient list for the V8 juice which is savory.. If you like V8 juice which has carrots, tomatoes, watercress, spinach, beet, celery and maybe some lemon if you like the lemon in it too.. There are recipes here for juices/smoothies if you do a search.

Gaspacho is tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, onion and garlic. I have tried this combo with some spinach. It worked OK, but I over did the parsley and garlic.:p

A little sea salt or dulse helps too!

I love this one...inspired by a Victoria Boutenko favorite. Can't remember where I saw her recipe, if you look around you'll probably find it.

If you have a vitamix just dump it all in and blend. I had to adapt it a bit.

My version:

Juice 1/2 a lime and enough celery to make 2 cups of juice. Stuff the blender with red leaf lettuce, 5 leaves of fresh basil, 1/4 red onion, 1/4 avocado. Pour in the juice and blend.
