Hi to all Raw Foodies. I live in Adelaide, South Australia and have found out about this site when I bought Alissa's book recently. I am new to raw, and I don't know any one else with raw inclinations, so will get my info from this site (as well as from www.raw.pleasure.com.au where I first found out about raw food)) and hope to keep myself motivated and inspired.
I bought a Vitamix 2 weeks ago and have managed to produce some yummy food, I am absolutely in love with that machine. I am not so sure about the dehydrator but once I learn to use it properly I'll probably wouldn't be without it.
I had recenmtly been to the Kangaroo Island Health Retreat where i had lots of raw food and I felt so much better. I started to do some research on the net, and hey presto, another raw foodie was born! My family and friends all think I have lost the plot because of my raw food preference (with the exception of my son). Too bad, I am off to uncook dinner now! :)
Cheers...Freyacat
P.S.: I really miss bnread!!! Any suggestions, anyone out there?

bread is easy once you get a dehydrator. You could always order some raw breads online til then.

I don't know if it's bread or the CONCEPT of bread that you are missing. for example wrapping any type of filling in lettuce, collards, kale leaves is very dlish and *very* satisfying. It's the *idea* of eating familiar foods that gets me thru, ya know?

I've found that the raw breads are just not the same as baked breads but I have learned to enjoy the raw breads and crackers that raw offers. For me it's a mindset....instead of trying to imitate my old favorites, I am replacing my old favorites with new favorites.
