How many calories do we really need? Is it a lot less if we eat raw food? I don't eat all raw. I do start almost every day with a green smoothie though. Thing is, I ate 1700-1800 calories today, and I feel full. I am a pretty lean athletic guy, 6 feet tall and 180lbs. According to common nutritional data, I should have eaten almost twice as many calories. What gives?

Sorry if this has been mentioned before.

Honestly? Eat what feels right. Sometimes you'll feel like eating up to 4,000 calories, sometimes you might not feel like eating at all. Go with what your body tells you.

Hi Supergreen -

keep an eye on your weight. You may find that you will need to eat when not hungry or eat foods more dense and less watery in order to maintain weight.

You might be right. At the end of that day, or the morning of the next, can't remember exactly when, I weighed less than I usually do.
