I was at costco this weekend. They had a container full of fresh figs. I have never tasted them before. I have read that they are very sweet and delicious. I didn't want to buy a whole case of them and not like them. Can someone describe the taste of fresh figs for me.

They are really good, I think, but have a ton of little crunchy seeds in em. They are sweet though.

yes...they are nice and sweet...smooth skin, crunchy seeds, chewy flesh. nothing like dried figs, but i like fresh ones a whole lot more!

the are reminiscent of lettuce. i swear. a hint of that kind of freshness. otherwise they are sweet & a little gooey like jam. theyre the perfect fruit to me.

I can't think of anything to compare them with. They stand alone in the fruit world.
My favorites are the pint baskets of dark skinned mission figs that are available at this time of year. What a treat!
I've gotten good figs at Costco, but not this year. The last case I bought there was no good, threw out half of them. They were hollow and dry in the center. Not the best fig experience.

...sweet & a little gooey like jam.
That's how I would describe it :) ...with a hint of crunch from the seeds. "Mmmmm", love black mission figs.
I'd say get a smaller container if you can find one and try 'em. Then buy the whole case if you do. Fresh figs are so versatile.
