The way I see it, is that with everything being seemingly contaminated now, i.e., drinking water contaminated with pharmaceuticals from incompletely processed sewage and many other things; produce contaminated with pesticides, lost nutrients due to being grown in over-used soil and shipping distances, etc., sometimes being watered with contaminated water, genetic modification, and now irradiation; I won't even go into the issues with the consumption of animal flesh; and on and on. We are all aware of how these issues affect the planet, the environment and our health in very, very negative ways. I think it's up to us, who are aware, to continue to try to gently lead and teach people and children, for the sake of future generations, about these concerns and issues and that supporting local, organic farming and educating themselves is imperative to their survival, health, and quality of life. I know that people don't want to listen. :( I sometimes try to get people to read information about these issues - if the text is longer that three sentences, most people don't want to take the time to read it.
I, however, won't give up. I live in the "inner city" as it's referred to and the further "in" you go, supermarkets are few and far between and don't even have organic sections nor are there farmers markets in the areas; fast food establishments inundate the areas. The only option I can think to offer people who don't have access to or money for organic produce is to offer the solution of natural cleansers, i.e., pure water, hydrogen peroxide and apple cider vinegar.
My personal big plan is to be an example. Yes, I'm still struggling myself with becoming 100% raw vegan. Now that I have the knowledge and understanding and feel that I have "awakened" to the issues at hand, it strengthens my resolve to serve as an example to others as to how this way of life can save lives. If we can only help a few, we will have planted seeds and helped many. :)

Linda, thank you for so much for sharing. Although I think there are other ways beyond raw vegan to be healthy and affect change, I believe your "personal big plan" to be an example is quite noble and your caring concern shines through in your words. I had the pleasure of attending a 2 year old's birthday party yesterday and it was very humbling. So much light, joy and screams of excitement emanated from kids ranging in age from 2 -12. I observed a couple of younger boys simply adoring the older boys. I mean really watching and observing absolutely everything they were doing. The parents of the elder child are vegans and I watched in amazement as the smaller kids (girls and boys) wanted to sample everything he was eating which was mostly fruit. One four year old told her Mom she wanted her to make sure to buy her some grapes! LOL.
My point is kids are paying attention and I think we'll find the biggest changes moving forward collectively with our health goals and just being able to live great healthy lives if we are in fact, being an example. This truth was made very very clear to me watching these kids yesterday. Children seem to have a sixth sense about targeting what is authentic and genuine, food included. Aside from this, they brought tears to my eyes with the level of joy they were sharing with us all. I don't know if everyone picked it up, but I sure did. This 45 year old kid left the party happy and inspired. hahaa. They are just pure love. We need to get back to the understanding that this is what being here on this earth is really all about - the core is Love. It's hard to unconsciously poison people with food selections and alternatives when there's love and genuine caring involved. And it would be a pure shame if we allow these growing bright spirits that are gifting us every single day with their presence to have less than the best offerings possible, where ever they happen to reside. Just my heartfelt opinion. :)

In the book "Braggs Healthy Lifestyle", Patricia Bragg addressed a question from a mother who bemoaned how her children only wanted sugary/salty foods, drinks, candies, etc., and it was impossible for her to get them to eat fruit or vegs.
Patricia commented that it was a shame the children weren't exposed to better dietary examples at an early age but that it was never too late to start. And if the kids decided that they didn't want to eat the fruit/vegs, EXCELLENT, the little tykes could fast as it would do them good.
I like her style. ;)

Thanks, all for reading my post and your cool comments. And yeh, cranberry, the government is a piece of work. They should be backing organic, local farming instead of big pharma, the meat industry, etc.

Perhaps we need to figure out how to make our local organic farmers have "stockholders", set up "special interest groups" and get ourselves some "lobbyists".

being aware of the RAW food lifestyle, i care more about people and the world in general. it's a good thing but an interesting phenomenon for me. :D
i have the same desire for my family -- to spread awareness of other options besides the SAD way of eating to them. first, i'm focusing on being a better example myself. the last time i visited my aunt, she wanted to know why my teeth was whiter, and that's when my mom talked about baking soda. so if you are displaying good things like better health, strength, happiness, etc... people will wonder, observe... and all things will go from there... goes with kids, too. ;)
it's about visibility i guess. bring that raw food dish to the potluck, decline invitations to restaurants unless it's at a raw food restaurant... instead offer a picnic outdoors (in the sun and catch up on some vit. D. ;) )... definitely NEVER give up!
