How can I get greens that are not poisoned, other than growing them myself? :( :( :(

From a google search, this is from the Massachusetts Northeast Organic Farming Association website list of 10 reasons why organic food is safer:
#7. No Irradiation
Organic standards prohibit the use of ionizing radiation to preserve food. US government regulations allow irradiation of both produce and meat. Irradiation proponents argue that it extends shelf life and kills microbes, which may spoil food and cause human illness. Opponents argue that it also kills the enzymes, vitamins, and healthfulness of food. They suggest cleaning up the feedlots and industrial food processing operations as an alternative way of protecting the public from disease.
Keep eating those organic greens!

Its just like the FDA to throw some chemical/process at the problem. I suspect that the real issue here is that the American public has such unhealthy diets and weakened immune systems that they can't handle germs that have been around forever. That said, some of the e-coli and salmonella strains have gotten more powerful due to the use of chemicals in the farming techniques and antibiotics that have made it into the water supply. Argh!!!
