My husband gets really bad heart burn after drinking a smoothie. Any ideas how to fix this ?? I told him to stop gulping them (he really likes them).

I put a TBSP of raw apple cider vinegar in mine and have had no heart burn since I started doing this. Have had problems with heart burn before I started this. I had heard ACV was a heart burn cure (old wives tale - those old wives were pretty smart) I also put a bit of raw honey in to balance it. MMMMMMMMM.

Are you using bananas in them? Bananas give me heartburn. I can sometimes tolerate 1/2 of a banana in a smoothie, but no more than that.

Yes I do use bannanas good thought. Tommarrow we'll try smoothie without bannannas and see what happens.

Tried the ACV it made him belch which I guess took away his heart burn.

I have been laying off the green smoothies lately and just blending the greens with my juice. I had a green smoothie the other day and it gave me heartburn. I think it's just my body saying it doesn't want green smoothies right now. But I must have the blended greens on a regular basis so I just blend them with juice.

Being raw means listening to your body's signals. I had a bad tummy ache and I closed my eyes and tried to almost meditate to look inside and see what would be the best thing. And it hit me. Straight up carrot juice. I just wanted nothing in my juice but carrots. I later put some celery in there and threw in some chia seeds because that's all I wanted and could tolerate and I needed it to keep me full for the day. TMI, I know.

Try chewing and not just gulping it down... Got to get the digestive juices flowing.

I got heartburn from a green smoothie once when I added kiwi's to it. I hadn't eaten kiwis for a while and decided to add them one day and BOOM, I got heartburn! :( To make sure I tried the same smoothie without the kiwis and was fine. A couple days later I sliced some kiwi up to eat and got heartburn right away. So now I know kiwis definitely give me heartburn! Don't know why. I love 'em, but for some reason my body doesn't! Your body knows what it needs and when something isn't right with it, it tells you. Try to figure out what exactly in the green smoothie is causing it and eliminate that food for a while. Like I said, I do like kiwi's, but for now I can't eat them. I do plan on trying them again someday though. Maybe one of these days my body will give "OK" to go ahead! ;)

yeah the best bet wold be to one by one take out a different ingredient till you find it. Bananas actually help me NOT get heartburn so it just depends on the person.

I think we found the culprit ..... parsley.

I've been using parsley instead of spinach because we ran out. Made a smoothie using spinach and no heart burn.

Darn Parsley is cheap and good for ya.
