im 22 & have been doing high raw for about 6 months now. ive never done it in conjunction with exercise...until now. im eager to see the results.

ive never ran competitively or for teams, but i really enjoy it as an activity. for about a week now, it's been my regular fitness regime for roughly 30 minutes daily. my legs have been sore since the second day, but i attributed the pain to having not exercised aside from walking my dog, walking everywhere (i dont drive) since high school. tonight though, i literally had to stop running the pain in my right knee cap was so sharp.

it feels sort of swollen though visually it is not. every time my heel touches the ground, even when i walk, i feel a sharp short pain. like im hitting the ground too hard & the bones that meet at my knee are taking it rough.

i dont know what to do! im afraid the only solution is to stop running until it heals. which devastates me cos i finally discovered i like exercising & id hate to stop running for...who knows how long. ive never had any experience with a fitness injury, so im literally in the dark. does anyone have any personal experience they can share? or can let me know what to expect? or is it in fact wrong to stop running? i cant imagine that this would be the case, but it would please me if by some miracle it was.

Have you taken advice on what footware you should be wearing. Maybe a change of shoes would help. I have one pair of shoes (Merrell) and even if I only walk on them for an hour or two my knees get so bad that I have difficulty walking and cannot go up or down stairs.

I agree,, The footwear is key. Find a really great running store that specializes in running and there are people who will help you find the right shoe. It is worth it. Running is so awesome. And it also helps me to play around with my diet. Certain foods make my joints hurt worse than others. Interesting.

ALso if you are jogging outside watch the hills. Maybe find a softer place to jog like a trail or a track at a school until your body adjusts.

Another thing that has helped me is to start out REALLY slow. I run 5 miles 5 times a week but SLOWLY. And now I am picking up the pace as my body allows.

And it feels GREAT.

Good LUCK

sounds like better footwear is in order but i would definitely allow your body to heal.

green juices are GREAT for healing!
