Hello,

I'm new. Thanks for welcoming me to the community. I know there are similar posts and I've gone through most of them, but none answer specifically to my question:

I plan to juice lots of leafy greens, in addition to other veggies, and would also like a machine that is versatile in terms ability to do nut butters, etc. and cost no more than 500 or so. Based on these criteria, an Omega and GreenStar seem like the best choices. I've never tried an Omega, but I did try out a friends GreenStar. My only concern was that it seemed a bit labour intensive feeding everything through the machine. Any feedback on which you'd go for(or have) or another I should consider would be great!

I am surprised that I have not heard of Omega. I researched juicers and several raw websites and books recommend either Green Star or Champion (they also mention the Milwaukee press, but at $2,000 it is not really affordable for most people). I purchased a Green Star because the juice has tested to keep its nutrients longer than Champion or centrifuge type juicers. The Green Star can be a bit slow, but it is very versitile. I got mine for about $420 (with attachments).

Thanks for the feedback! I'm going with the Greenstar. Any best price sites?

I purchased a GS 2000 from alphaomegafood.com for $421, it was the cheapest I found. The GS 2000 comes with more attachments than the GS 1000. The GS 3000 comes with attachments for making rice cakes/pasta and bread sticks which seemed unnecessary (although I have an old Green Power (un)Cookbook that has recipes for bread sticks made in the dehydrator).

I have the green star, one issue with the Omega that ruins it is that it grinds it's plastic parts into the juice/pulp. 2-life.com have a good price (you need to request the specail price as they cannot state it on their website).

I have an Omega and I love it! I use it everyday and I have never had a problem with the auger chipping- if it does I will just send it back as it has a great warranty. It juices greens wonderfully and I make my green lemonade everyday. I am happy with it and you can make nut butters with it- just have not. hth. Lisa
