Went to the chiropracter and got x-rayed. A vertebrat is twisted to the right and cocked a little. Neither he nor I know how this happened. He said it might be stress (which I don't have hardly any of) or chemical or muscular.
It hurts to arch my back backward some times.
Anybody ever have this and did something to get over it?
The back cracking so far is helping just an eency teency bit. But not enough.
I read somewhere that if you have a bad lower back to lay off acidic and spicey foods. I have been hitting Alissa's chile pretty hard lately and sprouted cereal grains. And when I would make hummis I'd put in lots of red hot pepper powder to please the pallate to mask the taste.

Chiropractic often takes more than one adjustment to correct a problem. I have used chiropractic since I was a teen due to scoliosis and if I truly injure my back it will often times take 3 adjustments to correct the problem. ALSO, not all chiropractors are created equal, make sure the one you choose is recommended highly by word of mouth and is willing to really talk to you about how to correct your problems. Also, if he didn't tell you, you should probably be icing your back for about 10 min. every hour to reduce inflammation. Hope you feel better soon.
Blessings,
Heather

Hi Heather, I injured my back about three or so weeks ago so ice is probably not helpful now. I have had about 6 adjustments so far. Sometimes during the day I forget I even have a problem and sometimes it just seems to have a mind of its own and flares up.
This chiropractors was highly recommended by people who go to him that live around me. They swear by him. Sorry you have back problems too.

Oh sorry to hear about your back. I feel for you! I herniated a disc in my back 7 years ago. It happend with me just bending over to put my socks and shoes on....talking about nasty words coming out of my mouth..lol. It took my doctor 2 months to diagnose me! Even though I told them I was in so much pain I couldn't get out of bed, a chair, etc. I went through physical therapy on and off for 2 years as I did not want surgery. I came close to having to have surgery but my PT knew I didn't want it and sent me to a PT who specialized in backs! It worked and I never had to go through therapy again. I have been pain free (well 99% of the time) for 5 years now. I was active before it happend. I trained for a 15k race and then a triathlon after that. I highly recommend a physical therapist if the chiropractor doesn't help. I have never been to a chiropractor so I am no help there.
I never did anything different as far as eating to help the back pain. Although a few stiff cocktails helped sometimes ;)
Hope your feeling better soon!

I just don't like anyone cracking or rubbing on Me. Whenever I have an injury, I just rest that part of the Body and within a month or even sooner its fine.

Check out the book "Painfree" by Pete Egoscue. As I understand it, the theory is that our muscles are pulling us out of alignment....and he gives examples of stretches. This program has been a life-safer for me! I am finally MOBILE again!! Cannot say enough good about his work!!

Chiro using stims, tens, or doing decompression therapy? If ice isn't working for you (I know it doesn't for me), use heat. Also, ever thought about accupuncture? ~ Cathy

Yup! totally twisted mine so I couldn't do a forward bend. I was dancing and picked up my partner. When he started to fall, I held on and oooops!!!
So, here's what you do ~ Epsom salt baths, twice a day. Not HOT but quite warm. Should not leave your skin red. 10 minutes each time.
Do gentle torso circles and hip rotations. Do not go into the pain but up to the edge of it. Whereas many will tell you to rest, you need to keep the energy flowing so you can heal.
Find a good bodywork therapist. 2 sessions should do it.
Work with me on this now. I was over it in two weeks.

How much Epsom salts?
Do you fill the tub just to where the water goes over your tummy?
How do you do torso circles and hip rotations?
By "bodywork therapist" do you mean a PT or Physical Therapist?

I'm no doctor (don't even play one on TV), but have read again just recently that a lot of low back pain has to do with calcium deficiency. You might double up on the green smoothies. Might help, can't hurt!:D

The Bum Back
Michael Reed Gach
I have the book and may be worth looking at it locally--library.
subtitle: Acupressure, self help back care for relieving pain and tension...
Since I hurt my knee few months ago, I sometimes have stiff back. I think this Bum Back may be helpful for me too.
I do love chiropractors and they have saved me from surgeries more than once.
I believe in alternatives!
Feel great!!!!!!
Thanks for all info. here!

Yes!! My spine is twisted and my right hip is slightly higher than my left one. It caused me so much pain for 8 months straight and it still bugs me. But I go to a chiropractor and get adjusted 3 times a week. It hurts a lot less now, and I've seen a lot of improvement. Hopefully at the end of my treatment I'll be all better :)
