While I was travelling in New York I had the occaision to visit Pure Food and Wine and their nearby take out.

One thing I can say is that they have generous portions. At the take out, I got a carrot, apple and ginger juice and a taco salad. The juice was delicious. The portion of the salad was enough for two meals. It was nicely spicy.

At the restaurant, I ordered a sea greens salad which wasn't on the menu, but I mentioned that I saw the receipe the the cookbook and they kindly made it for me. It would have been all I needed for my meal. I also ordered the lazagne. I found it to be very rich, but I really liked it. The woman sitting next to me ordered the same dish and was disappointed because the zucchini wasn't marinated. Aparently she has gotten it there before and the zucchini was marinated so it had a softer texture like noodles.

I saved part of each of my meal items and ate it for breakfast the next day. I noticed that the zucchini had indeed softened up.

Overall I had a great time and highly recommend it.

Hey...thanks for your review. I really really wanna go here, but can you give me a realistic assessment of how much money I should bring if I get a full course meal? I want to sample a lot of stuff...I heard their cheeze is great there.

A full course meal...you could easily drop sixty bucks on one person, lol.
Appetizers are $15ish, entrees are $22-28 and desserts are at least $12. I think I got an $8 smoothie once, though the last time I went there we weren't given a smoothie menu for the main restaurant. It's SOOO worth it though!

I think I spent about $60. I did get a glass of wine.

Oh, that's not bad at all! I was thinking of bringing about $100 with me, to really splurge. :-)

(I NEVER eat out- usually fruit only)

I will have to be careful not to OVER indulge and get a tummy ache.

Here is a website with some reviews about this restaurant. I should say that I have been there, liked the food, love their recipe book, and do agree with these reviews. In my experience ANY raw food restaurant is better than cooked food. I don't live in a city where I have a choice. I do plan to go back there in a couple months, when I visit NYC.
