My name is Lisa. I have been interested in a healthier lifestyle for nearly a decade now. Last night on the plane I managed to read 2 books about this lifestyland and know this is for me.

The problem is, I just don't know where to start. I think it is information overload. Maybe when I get to the store things will become clearer for me.

Welcome! I'm from Maryland too - way up north though - close to PA line.

I'd say start out with Green Smoothies and keeping it simple while you read and learn. There is a thread w/70 green smoothie recipes.

This time of year is the best time to start w/all the fresh produce out and about.

Enjoy your journey!

I know what you mean about information overload.....that's why even though I have tons of books, I always use Alissa's book and DVD as my foundation. The other is fun but I really like Alissa's down to earth, simple approach. Welcome!

As some have mentioned, Alissa's book is a gem of knowledge and a great resource to have around...there are so many others but don't want to overload you any more than you already are..

If you want to hear an inspirational story, look for the thread on here title "Need some inspiration..listen to Phillip McCluskey's story" (or at least something similar to that).. He has an amazing story, and he is very simple and down-to-earth in his approach and when discussing his journey with raw (since 2006 - lost 200 lbs to date) Click on the link below if you like:

Sometimes inspiration is all we need, don't have to be an "expert" on every trace mineral or nutrient but as Alissa says: "JUST EAT"...

Here's the link to that thread:
