I came across a recipe and it states "homogenize the cashews in a juicer". Does this mean that I put the cashews in the juicer?

Can someone help me understand the procedure.

Thanks.

Not just any juicer. It has to be like a Champion or Green Star juicer that has a homogenizing feature (also commonly referred to as a "blank plate or screen").

Basically, you can run almonds, cashews, etc. through and rather than having the usual screen on that strains the juice through, there is a blank attachment so the nuts are ground and then they come out of the same opening that the pulp would normally come out of but it's creamy and smooth...like nut butter.

Soaked, sprouted grains are also sometimes run through this to make a dough for raw breads, etc.

But again, this won't work in just any juice such as a centrifugal juicer. Hope this helps!

You can use a food processor to get similar results but it won't be as smooth as doing it in a juicer like Rawkinlocs explained. In fact, I often still use my food processor to "homogenize" as it's simpler to clean than my juicer and gives a similar result most of the time.
