View Full Version : Could this be signs of corn allergy/ intolerance?

First, my weight (who was going away just fine), started to seriously stall. Then I gained weight on the past few days.... :(

Also, all the extra energy I was feeling (even sleeping 6 hrs w/o feeling tired), disappeared. Last night I slept for 10 hours.

First, I thought it was because I couldn't drink my green smoothie for a few days (even though I kept getting my chia), but I've been drinking my smoothies faithfully, and I'm still feeling tired...

The only thing differently I'm been doing those days I didn't lose weight/felt tired, was eating corn. Corn salad or a little bit of corn on leafy salad and some little bit of corn soup (yesterday, I took, literally just a few spoonfuls).

Could this be a reaction to the corn? Something else? Any ideas?

TIA!

Lelê - let me ask you...how long have you been raw? Are you 100%? Could this be detox do you think?

How about water? Are you drinking enough water? Plenty of greens, fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, sprouts? Changing everything up?

Are you moving (exercising?)

I feel your body is transitioning. I still, (after two years), have days where I'm detoxing, be it by elimination or just not feeling quite right. Looking back now I KNOW it's detox.

Just relax and keep on doing raw. Like Revvell has said "Trust the process".

Just starting your journey? Then you are most likely going through detox. Heck, I've been raw for nearly 2 yrs and still go through detox from time to time. Weight loss stalls while your body is healing itself. Hang in there, and oh, definitely up your greens! ~.Cathy

I see Miss Lucy has beat me to it again.

After being 100% for months, I had some popcorn a few weeks back. Two nights in a row. The next day I entered into an anxious state that reminded me of how I used to always feel when i ate "normal" vegetarian food and had bulimia. Just totally out-of-control. Rather than follow Alissa's sane advice of going back to 100% without restrictions, I went to all fruit for a few days (red and black grapes actually). Just to cleanse faster without a nut binge. After the first day of that, a calm descended upon me. Praise God. So cooked corn is a no-no for me. Made me want to eat the house and slap anyone in my way. btw I had had some raw corn here and there while fixing corn for the family without issues...

I went through some food sensitivity issues prior to becoming raw, and here is what I have read. If you suspect a food sensitivity, abstain from eating the food for 2-3 weeks and then add back the food. If you are sensitive, you will have a pretty noticible reaction. It has to do with the way the body builds up antibodies to some foods. Corn is a known allergen. On the bright side, if you have a food sensitivity, you can usually get rid of it by not eating for about 3-6 months depending on the level of sensitivity.

Corn is one of those things you should always buy organic, because it is frequently genetically engineered. So maybe you got some frankencorn.
