So, after reading the thread about gaining another 1/2" - 1" doing yoga, I thought I'd better get to doing it. :)
I've done P90X's yoga, however, I find the length waaaaay too long. About 1 1/2 hours. If you like long yoga, that's fine, but as for something advanced, of good quality, and not being over 1 hour, what are your suggestions?
I've heard of and am considering Rainbeau Mars "Sacred Yoga" set or "Yoga for Beauty" set. Any opinions on her DVD's?

Suzanne Deason has a good Yoga for Women one. Rodney Yee has Yoga for Athletes and a good Intermediate Yoga DVD.

I have two of Rainbeau Mars DVD's checked out from the library. They are far to advanced for me. (I'm in very bad shape.) I've started with a book published in 1973 titled "YOGA 28 Day Exercise Plan" by Richard Hittleman. It starts out slow and builds gradually. Maybe in a month or so I'll try Rainbeau again.
Feel the stretching, feel the stimulation, feel the release of energy within you, feel the relaxation.
I'm on Day 5, and loving it. Already standing taller.
GO for it!

I have not done Rainbeau's dvd, but know her mom--my good friend, www.brigittemars.com.
She has testimonies at her website www.rainbeaumars.com and travelling the world promoting Adidas and making great $ too in the process. Everything right doing what you love and making $ at it too. May check her out on youtube.com, look for Rainbeau Mars. Hope this helps you decide.

Hi Riiiya! Sorry, I didn't see your reply immediately...very busy. I'm just over here in LaGrange / Shipshewana area, not far from you. I'm in Goshen almost weekly to do some shopping.
I do have 3 children, so to make it to yoga classes, it's probably out of the question, but it sounds good anyway.
I haven't tried any of the other DVD's mentioned here -- but I have used the free yoga streaming video at www.yogatoday.com. It changes every day, and it's very well done, set in scenic, peaceful locations, etc. Good for beginners or more advanced. I like to use this when I am in my home, and I have been going to hot yoga lately here and there when I want to do a sweaty yoga session with the guidance of an instructor.

I want to start doing yoga, but have never known where to start. The last time I tried was when I was younger, and I absolutely loved it.

i honestly find yoga dvd's sooooooo boring and too restrictive for me. i prefer doing what i want and when i want depending on how i feel that day. i'll always do my basic poses, but if my back is a little tight i'll put a couple extra time into that, the dvd's have a set routine everyday which doesn't really feel comfortable for me :)
i read this awesome yoga book "Real Men Do Yoga" it was really a kick up the ass for motivation. yes i know you'll think it's just for men, kind of is, but women can read it as well. it goes mostly into the physical aspects of yoga, none of that spiritual chanting junk i find annoying hehe
