View Full Version : I'm a C.N.A.!!!

My first trek to becoming an RN has come to fruition!! I passed my C.N.A. exams this week, and will soon add phlebotomy, EKGs and blood sugars to my repertoire!
Next goal - back in school knocking out pre-rqs for Nursing school! In the meantime, I need to find myself a good Algebraic text to bone up on my math skills so I don't wind myself up in a remedial math class...that would bump me out longer on the time frame to getting into Nursing school.
For so many years I was afraid to even try this field; so used to having things that mean anything to me wrested away as I was beginning to get a "taste." But not this one:) My raw journey has added courage and self-confidence to my overall path, and I am finally HERE:D.

Yay yay! Congratulations to you :) I took a CNA class, but only passed the written test first time. I need to retake the physical part of the test to get the certification but haven't yet. Good luck on the phlebotomy and everything else. :)

I'm so happy for you, Frugal Raw! Congratulations!
If I can help with the math part, I'd be happy to. I'm a former engineer (aeronautical) and have been tutoring in math for the last few years.
Good luck to you!

I thought I would be uncomfortable with the needles, but I'm finding it all so much more fascinating and challenging than anything else I've ever done. I can't hardly wait to get into Nursing school!! :D
Thanks everyone for your well wishes!

I know this is late, but congratulations! I'm an RN although not currently working because of my anxiety (starting raw foods tomorrow to help).
Beware, if you are a natural type person, it is difficult to learn some of the stuff (it's easy to learn, but makes you go, 'no, there is a healthier way!').
I ended up working in a level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit because I know premature babies will NOT survive without medical intervention. It was wonderful working with the families of the babies and watching the babies get better (and often worse and then better). I wanted to cry sometimes when they left because it was such a happy time for all involoved.
The only time my beliefs were tested was when I had to give a vaccine (I have never vaccinated my own children), but ultimately, it is the parent's decisions and the jury is still out on whether vaccines are harmful. If a parent asked me about my own belief I told them and let them decide what was best for their child. Usually, I didn't have to give them as I was night shift, so that was good! I love birth and everything about it, but for me, having had homebirths, I knew I couldn't cope with doc's inducing women at 38 weeks for no reason,
Anyhow, I went off on a tangent, sorry about that. Good luck in your journey, it is a rewarding career (it has been for me so far)!

How soon are you wanting books on Algebra?
Email me the details, I'll check my closet and the college where I teach and see what I can do.
