I just got through reading the Master Cleanser and plan on starting the mc in the next couple of weeks. He doesn't mention anything about probiotics, but if I am doing a salt water flush daily for 10 plus days, I figured I would need to replace some of that good flora lost. For those of you who have done the mc or something similar, do you take probiotics afterwards? If so, how much? For how long? And what brand would you suggest?

(I'm assuming I wouldn't bother taking any during the mc...right?)

I haven't done the M/C for any length of time... but it certainly wouldn't hurt to take some. Personally I love 'Garden of Life' products and their probiotics (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=10002&affiliate_banner_id=1) are great.

I wouldn't take them during the cleanse as you'll just be flushing them right out with every SWF you do.

they help reintroduce healthy flora to your intestines after all of that salt water flushing of the colon, which flushes the good, bad & ugly. you want to keep the good bacteria. i highly recommend taking them post MC with solid food for awhile, but then again i'm very biased after doing a few long term MC's. it does make a difference. take 'em.

^^^^ i'm not debating what Aleesha is sharing, i just wanted to share something I've recently come across in The Complete Master Cleanser by Tom Woloshyn who studied with Stanley Burroughs. He mentions that you can take them during the MC to step up your eliminations but not to expect that the flora will stay in your intestines. It sounds like you can take them during the MC, but with the understanding that it's only to boost your cleansing experience by clearing toxins. According to the author who's completed the MC both with and without probiotics, it's still recommended to take them for at least a week or two post cleanse.

me too, always open to learning. i wasn't disagreeing with you though, totally agree. just sharing something that has come up lately regarding the possibility of taking probiotics during a cleanse. i don't think it would make much sense with a water fast though -- just a juice cleanse, MC specifically -- just in case anyone is reading this and getting confused. :)

I don't know if this is the case with the capsules too, but the Garden of Life probiotic powder has dairy and tuna in it!!! I found that out last week when I special ordered some for my daughter...gross!!

Thanks again for great replies. I will make sure to take them post mc! I usually get the BioK liquid stuff from the hfs (the non-dairy)...several people I know suggested them and due to price, I don't get them often, but they seem to work well when I do...any thoughts on the quality of BioK?

Aleesha- I'm new to the fasting threads. You seem to have a lot of experience with fasting. Can you share with me why you haven't done the MC?

Has anyone tried ThreeLac for probiotics?
