We often hear about vegans and vegetarians converting people, but i wondered if anyone has ever converted someone to raw? I sadly never have, despite trying, people just think i'm wierd, even my vegan friends.

No, but my girlfriend eats more raw food when she visits - of course that's all I have.

She has experimented with green smoothies, because she sees how good they can taste.

Influence, yes - conversion, not yet.

I have with absolutely no preaching just leading by example I guess.

I teach Internet Marketing Strategies and two meat eating UK clients noticed I just ate fruit and how I looked I guess.

One now is doing the 30 day Alissa challenge and he is amazed at how great things taste and one just went fruitarian now he is just trying it out to get back to his goal weight but who knows he may just stick...

I've been corresponding with a long-lost girlfriend of mine since the beginning of this year, by e-mail, as we live 3000 miles apart. However, she was totally intrigued by what I've gotten into over the last half a year or so, and is following suit, because I have been so enthusiastic in my notes, sharing my joy with this lifestyle, recipes and websites, etc. She's been vegetarian for more than 20 years, and lives in Florida(plenty of fresh food, and warm!), so for her it is a natural progression. She, like me is pre-dominantly raw at this point in time, not 100%. She took right away to the green smoothies, and like me, this got her off of coffee. Like many, she does like to keep her food prep simple, and she has already released a few menopausal pounds that crept up on her, and feels better on the days when she is raw. Gluten-sensitivity is a long-standing problem for her, along with other chronic health issues which will take longer to address. She has been really appreciative of my help and support from afar, which totally makes my day!

yup... sure have. you can't release the kind of weight i have and not have people say "what did you do" and "how can i do that" LOL

so yup... i've converted a few people. happily converted them :)

the most important was my hubby though... happy to have him healthier cause of me rather than unhealthier cause of me LOL

No. If someone chooses to eat raw because of what I say or do, that's there perogative but but ME? Convert them? Not even possible. Anything anyone does is their choice, not mine.

Not completely, but I think I've influenced a few people in my life.

My ex roommate sprouts beans and seeds now...and she eats more fresh, organic vegetables and greens. She got her veggies solely out of tin cans prior. I didn't say a word - she simply tasted some alfalfa sprouts and wanted to learn how to do it.

My 2 year old nephew is a raw vegan in progress. sssshhhh, but don't tell my sister. :p He's always digging around in the food bag that I bring over when I visit my family. He loves fruit, especially apples.

Most of the time when I'm food shopping, someone will comment on something in my basket at the checkout, even the checkers! Sometimes people go back to get the fruit or vegetable. That's always awesome.

My friends & family have finally ceased making any (worried) comments about me being Raw. Nowadays, they ask me to bring "one of those desserts that you make" when we have family gatherings. LOL. they will not say the word Raw...hahahaaaa

I didn't take the word "convert" to mean convert... I meant it to mean... that they learn/experience/see what I'm doing and then choose to become raw.

So I hear ya on the wording... but thought I'd clarify my post. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/love00901.gif

My boyfriend was interested in raw and even did about 90% for a month. He lost 30 lbs, started exercising again, and then suddenly got struck down with mononucleosis (likely I was the carrier - poor lad) and was afraid for awhile that it was because of the raw food.

Don't ask. LOL

He also suffers from candida and thought perhaps he had OD-ed himself on sugars.

He is gradually reintroducing raw foods back into his diet now, and I am happily back at my healthiest 90-100%, and loving it...

I could say I reconverted myself... but then the only reason I ate cooked food was because I was in Scotland where salads are non-existent and I had no blender. ;)

My mom saw how healthy I was and took a shot at herself. She's been raw for awhile and is loving it. :) Lucky for both of us, she came to visit me for about 6 months and slowly but surely learned a lot of what I know about how to make the various raw treats/recipes. Now she has a Vitamix and my old dehydrator because I couldn't use them here in Hungary! LOL, she has my dog too, but that's a whole other topic. ;)

I know at least 4 people who were dnough influenced by the changes in me since becoming RAW that they have moved into the lifestyle! Convert means to change. I suppose that I dont' actually convert anyone---they do the changing, but it certainly is accurate to say that perhaps I was a catalyst for their good decision making. One woman recently said, "I love your energy, your zest for life! I want that!" Then whe ordered Alissa's book. She's been RAW for almost a month so far.
