Hi there everybody :D
I'm a nearly 48 year old mum and have been eating raw/mostly raw for a long time. I'm trying to find raw substitutes for my children's ordinary foods - such as bread, , rice crackers, cooked brown rice, etc.
Trouble is - my 2 youngest (of 4 children) have anaphylaxis - and cannot come into contact with any nuts, sesame seeds, kiwi fruits. I have to steer clear of using any seeds such as sunflower/linseed etc. in foods in case they too cause a reaction. I have to keep Epipens (needles with adrenaline) with the girls wherever they go.
I'm trying to find a raw 'crust' that I could use to make a pie - but can't find a nutless, seedless crust. I'd also like to make them crackers - but what with?
Unless there's a miracle, and I pray for one, they'll have these allergies all their life.
If anyone has any ideas or knows any raw recipes that I could use please let me know. Thank you in advance.
Hope you have a peaceful, healthy and happy day. :)

Have you tried veggie chips? Just slice veggies, marinate and dehydrate.
For a crust, maybe try using just dates. I've never tried it before but if you blend up the dates in a food processor and put them in a pie pan it would probably work.
Best wishes!

Thanks so much Raw Yogini for the suggestions....didn't think of dehydrating vegies....have only tried dried banana and the children got sick of it. Will experiment now. :)

Hi there
I feel very much for your situation and can relate!
You can make crusts out of buckwheat, bananas, coconut (if that works), dates, olive oil, etc.
There are quite a lot of recipes for crackers and wraps that are just veggies or sprouted grains (if you eat those).
Good luck and happy health

Oat groats, wheat berries, rye berries and buckwheat all sprouted would be good for crackers...I think many of the pizza dough recipes are made this way, just spread them thinner to dehydrate. Sprouted beans might work too...How about corn chips? I know I have seen recipes for those.
Linseed=flax seeds? Ugh, that is a tough one, Mama.
We had a bout with food sensitivities due to mold 'sickness' last year, so I know how much it stinks. I still carry an Epi just in case.

you could try dates and coconut for a crust. I think it's quite yummy!

I have done coconut and raisin before and it was yummy. I add a little bit of cinamon in it.
Also, you can just forget about the crust and just make the filling recipe. I do this sometime for i have to eat nut in moderation, i just don't do that well with nut but i seem ok with macadamian nut.
You can also use dry coconut pulp too. Also, you can ground into a flour kamut (you need to spout it first and then dehydrate it) and mix it with date to make like a dought. Bukwheat too would work.
Best wishes

thank you so much everybody for your suggestions...
I'm now experimenting and am confident there'll be
some new things on the children's menu. :)
I'm a bit confused about the buckwheat.... I read on
the internet that buckwheat sprouts are toxic and found
on one forum a woman warning about them after her
husband and herself had consumed too many.
Then she added that buckwheat 'groats' are safe.
Then I did a search on google for the difference between
buckwheat and buckwheat groats.... the images look the
same to me ??? (search for buckwheat then buckwheat groats
on google images)
I don't want to risk giving them toxic sprouts - if someone
has time could you please explain what plain buckwheat
is and what buckwheat groats are. thanks so much.
Thanks again everyone. :)
