...Okay Folks! So I have been asked....anyone know who first came up the fact that when food is heated above a certain temp. it loses it's nutrients and enzymes? and how do they know that is a fact, not just a thought? I truly believe it, but I was questioned so I thought I would get some specifics! Thank You!!! {I feel silly asking, because I know it is true, but want to sound super smart when I give my reply!} Deb

I don't know who first came up with it. Ummmm . . . animals in the wild that only eat raw food?!

I do know that the destruction of enzymes by heat has been scientifically proven. In my high school biology class we did an experiment with a chemical and raw liver. There is an enzyme in raw liver that reacts with the other chemical to produce CO2. When we put the chemical with the raw liver, abundant CO2 was released. When the liver was heated above 130 degrees, it no longer reacted with the chemical to produce CO2, proving that enzymes are destroyed by heat. I wish I could remember more of the details of this lab, but that was 4 years ago, before I even knew about raw foods.

Just tell folks about how great you feel on raw food. Personal testimony and real life experience are much more valueable and convincing sources of information than any scientific jargon.
