To me there is nothing better than a good salad with a good dressing. I've tried making some on my own but they often dont turn out quite right. Anyone have any favorite tasty recipes?

I finly chop sun dried tomatoes, dried chilly and garlic in a jar. Fill with olive oil and let sit for a few days. Easy and keeps for ever.

My favorite is approx 1 part lemon juice, 1 part (raw) apple cider vinegar, 1 part (raw) honey, small clove chopped garlic and equal portion chopped gingerroot (opt), pinch of sea salt. Blend it thoroughly. Then while the blender is running, drizzle in 3 to 4 parts of a high quality olive oil. (I like Rapunzel Olive Oil, it is not stone pressed, but it is not allowed to exceed 95 degrees during the pressing process.) If your whipping it by hand, start adding the olive oil a few drops at a time, gradually increasing to a steady stream as you continuously whip it. Using that technique incorporates the olive oil and thickens the dressing.
That's how I did it before I got a magic bullet mini blender. Now I just blend it all, add the olive oil and blend some more. Use a piece of lettuce to taste test it, adjust for tartness/sweetness if necessary, then add more olive oil until it is the consistency I'm looking for. Works everytime.
This dressing is so basic it can be flavored any way you like. Sometimes I add extra honey and stone ground mustard, or cumin and thyme, or fresh italian herbs, or an avocado, or some pine nuts, or green onions. Possibilities are endless. Experiment! Have fun with it.
I like it sweet, especially on bitter salad greens. You may want to reduce the honey, sub with agave or dates, but don't leave out the sweetener. Most salad dressings are a combo of tart, sweet, and fat.
P.S. Store extra in a jar in the fridge for up to 4 days. The olive oil will solidify so let dressing sit at room temp for an hour before using, or put jar in a bowl of lukewarm water for a quick melt.

I like things that are simple and easy so naturally my salad dressing fits that.
I blend one avocado and one tomato for a creamy dressing.
Add sunflower seeds or flax seeds if you want it thicker.

I use 1/2 small lemon juiced, splash of a good olive oil (I use Las Brisas organic from Spain), splash of bragg's aminos, splash of sesame oil (this is not raw - it is toasted), & 1 clove fresh garlic (some powder if I'm lazy) - I use a fork to mix it all together in a small bowl - taste & walla! :D

So simple and good:
apple cider vinegar
fresh garlic
extra virgin olive oil
curry, dried oregano, thyme, rosemary, or whatever I'm in the mood for
Celtic sea salt
pepper
All ingredients are to taste.
I finly chop sun dried tomatoes, dried chilly and garlic in a jar. Fill with olive oil and let sit for a few days. Easy and keeps for ever.
This sounds lovely. I'm going to start this tomorrow (wish I had more time today!). :)

Does anyone have a recipe for a creamy caesar dressing that is easy to make? I have been buying my fav dressing from a raw food store but it is $9.00 a bottle and I end up going through 1 1/2 bottles a week! Too expensive for me really but I love it on my salads. Help!!!
Do you have Alissa's book??? She has a great ceasar recipe in it. Ive heard the one in Woody Harrelsons site is really good.
Crisp Caesar Salad
Serves 4-6
An classic Caesar salad with crisp romaine lettuce and a Pinenut Parmesan. Tamarind is a tangy, sweet compliment for an authentic Caesar Salad flavor and can be found in Indian and ethnic markets. Crumble in leftover flat bread as croutons to absorb flavor.
1-2 heads Romaine lettuce
Caesar Salad Dressing: makes 1 pint of thick dressing that will keep fresh for a week.
5 tablespoons raw tahini
1/4 cup pinenuts
2 tablespoons tamarind paste (optional)
1 nice clove garlic
2 green onions, or 1/4 cup sweet onion
1 lemon, juiced
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons maple syrup or 3 soft dates, pitted
3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1-2 teaspoon black pepper or to taste
1-2 teaspoons sea salt or to taste
2 tablespoons good olive oil (optional)
fresh water, 2 tablespoons at a time as necessary to blend
Technique
Caesar salad dressing:
In a blender or Vita Mix:
Blend tahini, pinenuts, tamarind, garlic, green onion or minced onion, lemon juice, vinegar, maple syrup or dates, nutritional yeast, black pepper and sea salt, adding oil and fresh water, 2 tablespoons at a time as necessary to blend until very smooth.
Season with sea salt and pepper to taste.
Separate Romaine lettuce leaves and break into pieces.
Dollop dressing on, a few tablespoons at a time, and toss with lettuce until well coated, but not drenched.
Serve and sprinkle with ‘Pinenut Parmesan’
Pinenut parmesan:
1/4 cup pinenuts
1/4 cup whole cashews or macadamia nuts
1 teaspoon good oil or fresh water
2-3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
pinch dried garlic granules or powder
pinch sundried sea salt
Technique
Parmesan:
In a food processor or blender:
Chop pinenuts and cashews into a fine meal.
Drizzle in a touch of oil or water.
Chop in pulses until moist and ground.
Add nutritional yeast, dried garlic and salt and chop in pulses until crumbly.

This is probably weird, but I like a REALLY peppery salad dressing... usually some olive oil, some balsamic vinegar, fresh garlic, a little sea salt and TONS of freshly ground black pepper.... and I mean tons. YUM!
