Hello everyone. My son is 5 1/2 and does not like seeds or nuts although he does eat almond butter, but what I am concerned about is getting enough zinc in his diet. Of course he eats no meat or dairy, and I read that zinc is not absorbed as well in vegetarians because of the phytic acid that binds to the zinc. I give him smoothies with hemp protein, but not everyday. I don't want him to become deficient. What else can I do?

enter his daily diet into fitday.com or another online nutrition tracking website if you want to be sure what he's getting and where he may be falling short.
i put a spoonful of pumpkin seeds butter into smoothies every day and i also include pumpkin seeds in any nut milk, pate, or nutbutter treat i make. he never knows it's in there, it is easy to disguise with other flavours.

there's a list of foods with zinc in them in this link. not all appropriate for a raw vegan diet but some are.
