Hi Everyone,

My 9ish month old kitten ripped one of his pads off this morning  , rang the vets and they said to clean it but they couldnt fit him in until this afternoon. I just know they are going to want to inject him with antibiotics, if i dont get a reply on here i will have no other choice as i dont know enough about preventing infection, i think he did it in the early hours of this morning looking at it, its not pouring with blood but its seeping. I would just like to know for future reference or so i know before i go in a couple of hours what the alternatives are, i've read just about everything for and agaisnt injections and I personally am against them, but if anything happened to my cat because i didnt have enough knowledge and just decided agaisnt WITHOUT having a back up plan, i couldnt forgive myself.

Thanks everyone:(

Poor kitty, I hope everything goes well. I don't know much about antibiotics and cats.

A one time use of antibiotics could be appropriate in the case of an injury. Perhaps you could use a topical antibiotic so it doesn't affect his whole system. See what the vet says. I tend to trust doctors in cases of injury. It's chronic and lifestyle issues that they fall short on. Best wishes to you and kitty. Whatever you do will be alright!

If he were my kitty, I would treat him homeopathically. A dose of hypericum for throbbing; a dose of arnica for swelling and tissue trauma; then a dose of calendula for the open wound. I would also put calendula cream or ointment (not gel--it burns) on the wound itself. Repeat hypericum and arnica. Then repeat calendula.

That's it. That's what I would do.
Good luck!
