The baby needs sunlight. It can be indirect window light.I am spacing on all the details, but the sunlight helps the baby pass the bilirubin.

The breastmilk will help the baby flush it out of their system. Sunlight helps as the pp mentioned. Put them near a window when indoors and spend some time outside. (Using common sense of course. You shouldn't put sunblock on a young baby and dont' want them to burn.)

Here's a link on breastfeeding and jaundice:

As far as I know the mom's diet is not really a major factor. Just make sure you are eating well so you are getting the calories you need. And drink lots of water too.

My son had severe jaundice (he was born at 35w 3d).

I will reenforce both advices! Sunlight, even indirect and the best one is very early in the morning for a few minutes at a time. I used to strip B. to his nappies and let his bathe in sunlight (indirectly) everyday. I feel that it brought more results than the billi blanquet.

And the more you feed the baby, the more s/he will pee and poop. And that's her the jaundice gets out of their system.
