View Full Version : Are raw cashew nuts sold by Tesco a scam ?

They sell raw cashew nuts in Tesco, but Im highly suspicious.

Are they actually raw ? Have I misunderstood something ?

It's not really a scam, Tesco just don't know any better. No they're not raw, as to get the shells off they are boiled (like brazil nuts). You can get really raw cashew nuts that are hand shelled. Here's the cheapest UK source I know of: Tree Harvest on 01531 650 764. You have to 'phone them, they don't have online ordering. Make sure that you ask for the hand-shelled cashew nuts.

Here is a great UK website that list foods that many think are raw, but in actual fact are not: www.purelyraw.com.

Scammers ! And apparently their fresh organic fruit and veg is still sprayed with pesticides, just not as regularley as the normal fresh fruit and veg, so they call it organic !!

Also, im looking for an online article where someone spoke about a list of foods which were called raw but actually werent.

Anyone know the article im talking about ?

Someone posted it on the forum here .

Also,why do tesco call them raw then ?? And how are regular cashew nuts have the shell taken off ?

Okay thanks, but they may as well call their regular cashews raw aswell if they use the same method to get the shell off .

Or its just a complete scam that doesnt need to be explained (probably this option)

I get mine from www.detoxyourworld.com.
Tesco can call the raw because there seems to be no rules. I tried my best a few months ago to get the RAW off the package of the Nakd bars because they are not raw either but I got nowhere. They clearly call them RAW.

Why arent the nakd bars raw ? I wouldnt eat them anyway, but they seem raw.

I was annoyed because I did eat them
