View Full Version : I had Alissa's book spiral bound

Hello ~ This is my first post. I received Alissa's book and DVD a few weeks ago. Yesterday I took her book into Kinko's and for $5 I had them spiral bind it. I also had them place a thick sheet of plastic in front of the cover and another behind the back cover.

You can opt for getting the covers laminated for $4 extra.

I just wanted to pass this along. Perhaps it's already been posted about. I did a search and didn't see it though.

It's really great to have this done. The whole book opens flat or can even fold back on itself.

I'm just learning about raw food and have enjoyed all the sharing and information I'm gathering from this great site! *Ü*

I've thought about having this done but kept putting it off. I have some ebooks I'm going to get done and I think I'll do LOLF now that you've mentioned it worked out well!

Thanks for posting!

I know - great price! I've done with several of my other cookbooks and it's so nice. I haven't had a problem with this spiral binding on any of them.

The actual binding was just $3.99 - I had those plastic pieces on the covers and those were $1 extra. Can't beat that...

If I had it to do again though, I'd have the lamination done... *Ü*

Just a thought :

You could have Alissa's book DIVIDED into 2 sections - then spiral bound . Keeping ALL those 300 RECIPES separate , and in their own book . A little smaller and not so thick for the kitchen counter .

I wish I had thought of that! Great idea! The recipes start after page 254 - that would be quite a bit easier to handle. *Ü*

Awesome idea! I used to do this with my Stampin' Up catalogs, but never thought of it for Alissa's. I love the idea of dividing it up.

Thanks, DebB!!

Oh, I'm so glad you shared this! I found out we DO have a few Kinkos in my city. I'm adding this to my list of To-Dos, and I'll also get my RAINBOW GREEN book spiralized!

So much easier than writing out all my favorite recipes and putting in a binder!

You can even get hard cover books spiral bound. You'll lose the hard cover - but if you have the dust jacket, they can actually laminate it and use it as the cover.

Back in the day, I had all my low carb book spiral bound.

You'll love this - it makes such a nice difference! Someone even suggested separating Alissa's book into 2 books - information in one and just the recipes in another. If I had it to do over again, I would probably do that. *Ü*

Thanks for the laugh Appifinie and Monkapotapus!:D

Thanks Deb! Another of your good ideas I will copy one day. I've made the sprouting screens you shared also. ;)
And thanks Live Love Life for expanding on that good idea.

I went to tell my inky/stampy wife about this and before I had finished, she said the same as nini, "Oh yeah, a lot of the Stampin' Up girls do that with their catalogs". She did mention to have the binder make sure they don't remove too much of the spine edge of the pages in the process. I'm still waiting to get Alissa's book, but this will be it's destiny I reckon.

I just had a page come out of one of my cookbooks and knew that more would as well. I remembered this post and took it to FedEx today. I did not get the plastic covers though. Thanks for the suggestion. It came out great.

Hi babeak ~ I'm glad it will work for you! I recently ordered a large book online on different stretches & exercises and the first thing I did was to get it spiral bound. So much nicer with it lying open flat for following along. It was just under $5 with tax - can't beat it! *Ü*

P.S. You can even take in a hard cover book - but you'll lose the cover. So, if you have its dust cover, you can actually have the picture on it laminated and added as its cover.

Back when I used to low carb ~ I posted this on a LC forum that I'd had this done to all my LC cookbooks and one of the ladies posted back that she had no idea you could do this - and - her husband worked at Kinko's - we got a good laugh out of that. *Ü*

I have to agree with everyone else. What a great idea. I am going out tomorrow and getting mine spiral bound. I hope Staples does it because I'm not sure where a Kinkos is near me.

I had all my old low-carb books done back in the day and here sit my perty raw books undone - harumph! Maybe if I do them one at a time... *Ü*

Probably less if you just have the recipes section spiral bound.

Aleesha Sattva
01-27-2011, 10:26 AM
it didn't go by price bette... it went by the spiral coil. so having it done as one book cost less than having it split into two.
