View Full Version : I've lost 5 pounds in 6 days.... is this healthy?
Just wanted to check back in....
6 days of 100% raw. I feel GREAT, maybe the best I've felt in my whole life. When I decided to go raw, I was using this more as a detox, both physically and mentally. Weight loss wasn't really my goal, even though I don't mind it at all since I am a little overweight.
Anyway, I've lost 5 pounds in about 6 days. Like I said, I feel great and very satisfied. Is it healthy to lose 5 pounds in just under a week?

you're probably cleansing some gunk from your intestines... i think that's why the weight goes so quickly at first. most people are backed up on SAD, even if you're regular. just pay attention to how you're feeling. if you feel great, why worry? :)

If you feel great . . . then I'm sure you're doing great. Weight can fluctuate a lot, especially when you are making major lifestyle changes like going raw.
Focus on how you feel, and take the number on the scale with a grain of sea salt.

i agree 100% with beckx - detox is releasing and that's what you are doing and even if you begin to feel yucky... remember that is detox as well. so don't be surprised if you get some flu-like symptoms... just keep drinking water and eating raw and allow your body to release.
:D and remember... raw is a journey not a destination. :)

Yep. Isn't the intestines like a few yards long just packed up and squished in your body? I am on the Master cleanse and I lost 10lbs in 5 days. I went back to eating a salad, several sushi rolls and the weight gained back about 4 lbs. I know I didn't eat that much, but when I did eat I could feel my stomach and intestines just hold the food in for about 3 days before elimination. Because I went back on the cleanse that day after I ate solids. And it really goes to show that food can stay in your stomache for days. My stomache felt heavy for days as well. Since then I lost 2lbs since elimination.
Maybe during the cleanse I did burn some fat due to not consuming a lot of foods, but I think the weight was due to food taking its time going through my system.
Also, you can eliminate a lot of fluids from bloating since a lot of can, boxed and prepared food has a lot of salt. Water retention can go anywhere between 2 to 8 lbs.

they (intestines) sure do hold onto your sh_t... (pun intended LOL) - a friend is on day 87 of her fast and she is still pooping weekly! not a huge amount or anything,... but she is still elimating!
i did for my entire 45 day juice feast. just goes to show you how much sits in our intestines. *yuck*
so in case anyone was wondering... i really am full of ______ LOL

Could also just be water weight....people gain and lose water weight in huge amounts all the time, affected by salt consumption, water intake, activity levels, etc.

If you feel great, I wouldn't worry about it. Fat is toxic and it is released on raw foods.
