Hi, This is my first post. Although I've been hanging around for a while.:)
I will give you a little back ground. My name is Lisa and I am from th UK .I am 39

I having been transitioning to Raw slowly for 6 - 8 months and I 'm about 60 -70% raw now. I have loads of weight to lose, approx 280lbs at the moment. .

I have two children 3 and 5 years both were concieved quickly with no problems, thank goodness.

I have always had regular periods with no real problems, although I had my first aged 10years!
The last 5 months I've had frequent periods sometimes with only 2 weeks between. My last period however was now 6.5 weeks ago. I have had several negative pregnacy tests.

We haven't been trying for another baby, but we always planned on having more. I just wanted to do it when I'd lost more weight.

The Gp took another test 'negative'. and said to come back in another week and do another test! When I've not had a period for 3 months she'll do some blood tests. My usual Gp's on holiday and I will go and see her when she returns but meanwhile I'm worrying that I'm not pregnant and that this is in fact premature menopause

I know I'm very lucky to have 2 great boys, but we always wanted a big family. My husband won't consider just giving up on condoms! until my weight is down, because he knew how hard it was to carry the boys at 250lbs plus. What makes this worse is my sister is pregnat with her 4th child which wasn't planned, nor wanted.

I know stress doesn't help, I lost my mother over a year ago, 2 cats this year, very miserable husband at times:( , along with the weight I have.

Does anyone have any advice or experience of this situation and any help to improve hormones, periods etc ??

These boards are so friendly and I just know someone out there cares!
Lisa

Hi Lisa...welcome to the board. Stress can cause mensrual irregularities and so can weight. I'm 51 and at my highest weight my periods bcame very irregular but are now pretty much on time. Dropping some weight will help and also taking maca if you can. It helps regulate hormones and is tasty added to shakes made with almond mylk. cacao and frozen bananas.
Wishing you the very best~

have you ever seen a natural practitioner? That would be my first suggestions so that you have someone looking at the whole picture. You could also take a look at vitex, an adaptogenic herb that helps to regulate hormones. It makes a pretty big difference for most and is quite safe. Best of luck on your journey.

I would look into a natural practitioner to balance out your hormones. Mine shot through the roof when I turned 41. I thought it was menopause but it's hormone imbalance. Got many good years left plus I've still got to have my babies.:D I didn't do medical doctors because I knew they would do a hysterectomy and put me on HRT. No way!

Lisa, I was 300 pounds a year ago... today I'm 163. How'd I do it? 100% raw. It really does make that much of a difference. There's a member here who went through menopause very early and since going raw has started menstruating again! So all is NOT lost here.

Honestly up your raw intake and take lots of relaxing baths to lower your stress. Do you exercise at all? Long walks are great for stress reduction as well.

Trust me... if I can release 1/2 my weight in a year... so can you :D

Thank you all so much for your replies. I hate feeling like this, I knew that The right place to look for help and support was here. GP's are useless, I've known this really all along, but when you are in mid panic:eek: sometimes it's where you go.

As of tomorrow I am 100% raw, can't achieve that today with all the SAD I've managed to eat this afternoon, but as of tomorrow I will up Raw and introduce some Maca. I do have Maca in the house but haven't really gotten used to the taste.Smoothies sound yum ! Any other help there would be good?

I have blender and juicer but no other equipment(ie dehydrator, vitamax- on my Christmas list!)

I'll look around for a natural practitioner and hope they can see at what point I am.

I will, of course, look into all your suggestions.

I can't stress how comforting and hopeful all your replies have been, You hear how Raw can change lives and it's great to hear first hand just how much it has done for so many, thank you all again Lisa

Good for you!! Maca tastes best to me blended with cacao...they seem to compliment each other...with almond milk.

Raw food made me fertile, i was 60 days 100% raw, then my period stopped, thinking that i might be having menopause for i was 40 years old, i went to buy a home pregnancy test just in case, well, it turned out to be positive and i gave birth to a healthy little girl 9 months after.

Yes stress can delay your period but if one thing raw food could do is to make your more fertile. During those 60 days, i was doing Alissa's recipes and other gourmet raw food and no supplement. Well i got pregnant anyway.

Focus on connecting deeply with your husband and let go the attachment that you will conceive or not. I didn't try to be pregnant and i never thought that i could be either, on top of this i am missing one ovary. When the time is right, the time is right.

You can always try another home pregnancy test after one week. Sometime, in the beginning if taken too early it will say negative. If it says positive then there isn't any mistake but negative isn't necessary true.

My periods started going wacky when I was in my 30's. So much so that when I really was pregnant at age 38/39, I didn't believe it! I went to the Dr. because I thought the at home test was wrong. Nope!

I'm in my 40's now and they've only gotten wackier. Had one 18 day period. They come late. They come early. Dr. thinks it's perimenopause.

Thank you everyone for all of the support and replies. This really is a great place to seek help, advice or love.

I've managed to up my raw intake, although I'm not quite 100% just yet.I am aiming to go 100% raw next week after my husband goes back to work and I can have some 'me' time ( I like to plan ahead ,somewhat, otherwise I reach for sad food )to stock up cupboards , make some treats , re read Alissa's book , visit a natural practitioner and relax a bit.

I definately feel a lot more relaxed about this issue:) , reading all the postive stories from all of you. I just can't say just how much your comments have been such a comfort, you are such a wonderful bunch of people.:D love from Lisa
