Hey RAWbies!!!

It's funny...having the day without MY MORNING COFFEE..... never thought THAT would happen!!!! I still get up every day heading straight for the Coffee Pot!!! It's an automatic reaction I guess!!! I suppose that will eventually stop... I hope so!

Maybe I need to replace that with something else. Hey, maybe I need to replace it with Tea or Hot Water with Lemon. Nah, too close... I'll just stick with the blender making Green Smoothies.... :D

Were you addicted to Coffee? What did you replace it with? eek: Do you still get cravings? Do you have an occational Glass or Two now and then or did you break free and clean COLD TURKEY.... Did you get rid of your Coffee Pot or do you use it for anything else...?

I replaced it with fresh refreshing JUICE. I would drink it all morning just like I would with the coffee. I miss it sometimes but I get a SUPER BAD headache if I drink it now so I don't bother. I still have to make coffee for everyone here at work and the fresh beans smell great. I just enjoy that part of it. I also look at the coffee pot and think this is what your body looks like. It gets all brown and grosse. I don't want that stuff in my body. We just got a new machine and it's already super yukky.

I say give away your machine and get rid of all coffee in the house. It's not part of your lifestyle.

But you should have a drink to replace it because I think , at least for me, I had to have something to drink all morning like I did my coffee because it would keep me from eating so much.

I had to go cold turkey and then after six seven month i got strong craving again and i found a herbal coffee called teccino. It did the trick. It took me two years to stop coffee. When i finally realized that i couldn't make exception ever, the last time i tried to go cold turkey, i felt my emotions this time and just allow the energy of addiction and pain to just be. Allowing myself to feel the pain when i would say no to my mind wanted coffee. I found out that i was drinking coffee because i was bored. I did this one moment at the time and not one day but a moment, it eventually healled. I have been coffee free for six years now and don't even miss it. I did this on cook food, with your raw diet, i would replace it with green smoothies. It will wake you up, give you a real boost of energy and assist to heal the addiction to coffee. There are also recipe for raw coffee.

Congratulations!

I agree with veganforlife....Green Smoothies!!! I also like your idea of throwing the coffee pot out....then when the temptation hits, it's not there.

There is another coffee substitute called Oskri, and it's made from roasted barley. I haven't had coffee in a few years, but I was watching a nutrition show a few months ago and she was revamping someone's diet. They were hooked on coffee and she made them a fabulous smoothie with coffee substitute made from dandelion and bananas and other things. It looked so good that I went out and bought the Oskri coffee substitute.

The smoothie was horrible, but the coffee was so fabulous that I drank a cup every day until the stuff was gone and have refused to buy any since! You would never know that it wasn't coffee, and I used to drink plenty of coffee every day.

This is a really good substitute. However, when you use these substitutes, it makes the craving/addiction linger and it just draws out the inevitable, which is that you really should quit.

Be well!

I would LOVE to throw away my pot... But, my SAD Hubby would NOT be happy with THAT.... But, I did put it under the cabinet, that's the best I can do... At least I don't have to look at it first thing in the morning anymore...

So when I get that urge, first thing in the morning, I head straight to my blender instead... it's a STRANGE feeling, though, but I suppose that will pass....hopefully. Thank you for the feedback... I did not know there was a RAW Coffee version...interesting... I think I might just stay away from that though...might feed the craving, a little tooo close for comfort...

Zella Juice: I can't imagine smelling it all day! What an inspiration you are! :)

I am talking about raw recipe to make coffee without using the bean, i don't think they use coffee but just raw food that bring the taste close to it. I have never tried it.

I think that you are doing the right thing to stay away from coffee all together and to go with the green smoothies. This is my morning coffee and i love green smoothies.

I thought I was going to need to go to the hospital when I was going through the detox. I went cold turkey and had previously had a lot of coffee, regularly. On I think the second day, I had a half cup or something to lesson the detox. It was so bad.

I'm so glad to be off coffee!

I was pretty addicted to coffee and caffeine. I tapered off slowly using teccino, mixing more teccino and less ooffee each day. I couldn't quit cold turkey because of the withdrawal symptoms. I am still drinking a little bit of organic green tea which I brew in the sun and use like iced tea. I am tapering off of that too.

I'm still drinking it (which I'm not admitting in my raw challenge:rolleyes: ) but I've cut it 2/3 with teecino. I know a lot of my coffee addition is emotional; I grew up in a household of people with severe allergies and asthma and coffee was one thing we all used every day and also in conjunction with our inhalers. (Coffee is a bronchio dilator.) So I was drinking coffee black, very strong, even as a kid. My allergies and asthma are 90 better... there are weeks when I don't even touch the inhaler and only take one allergy pill in the am and one in the pm. I have an epi-pen as a back up if I need it. So I'm cutting back with teecino. It's easier to cut back when it's hot outside, too. I need to be serious about this now before it gets cold and drizzly (I'm in Oregon) and all I want is a pot of coffee for breakfast! :D

Congratulations for giving up coffee! I know an addiction can be hard to break sometimes!

And better yet, you are replacing it with green smoothies. You go girl! :)

By the way, both my mom and aunt are such coffee addicts themselves. What I'm doing with my aunt right now is that since it seems she won't give up coffee for health reasons, I'm using vanity against her. I told her the coffee is why her teeth are yellow, hehe. Yesterday, she wouldn't touch it. ;)

Those drinks look SO GOOD!! recipie, please?

I've been drinking TEECHINO.. they have different flavors, Mocha is really good. There is no caffine and it's organic and alkaline instead of acid, like coffee is.

OK I want what Ginger posted - NOW.

I used to drink coffee - I switched to green lemonade without much of a problem (mild headache for a couple of days). I now enjoy green smoothies for my a.m. rush.
