I'm curious as to what people order by the case?
And, does anyone buy cases of something from a farmer's market booth? I've been too shy to ask the farmers.
As for me, I buy a case of green peas for my family bc my coop gives a 5% discount on top of the 17.5% member discount if you order a case of something.
I've questioned ordering a case of olive oil b/c we go through a bottle a week, but I like the good stuff @ $20 a bottle and can't afford a case of 12 all at once! I'd love to start ordering fruit or greens by the case but I haven't yet b/c I feel like it would be expensive and then I'd be rushed to finish it before it all goes bad. Anyone have experience with this?

Well, it depends. Kelp noodles - yes. Nuts - yes, dates, yes. Olive oil - no (can get a 20% discount through my other job at the HFS). To me it's cheaper to buy cases as I freeze my nuts and dates.
As far as the greens going bad? Blend 'em and freeze the blended mixture in canning/freezing jars (leaving 1 inch space at the top) or in ice cube trays for green smoothies.

I buy...

dates by the case.

we just bought some cherries for our local store. I whole case was 120 bucks but we just froze most of it. I was tired of going through all those plastic bags and it was way cheaper too.

I buy nuts by the case when it's not hot because I don't have fridge storage for them.

That's about it. If I had more storage and money up front I would buy more stuff by the case.

I buy greens, bananas and any produce on sale by the case. I am getting ready to place an order with Azure to nuts, seeds, oats, wheat berries and dates buy the case or 25-50lb bag. but I have 8 people in my family.

I have been doing it now for 3 months, it works out 50% less

I get

Oranges 16kg x2

Peppers 5kg -- red usually

Greens

Mangoes

Pluots

We usually get different cases each time, cold storage, put some into the freeze; the rest gets eaten/juiced up pretty fast

Would recommend it to anyone!:o

I do...but I have a big family so we easily go through it before it's bad. Like I go to Costco like it's a normal grocery store, lol.

I'm living alone now, so I don't. I DO buy a whole watermelon and usually eat it in a day, though.

I get stuff like olives, almonds, cacao butter, cacao in bulk -- because it will last for a while and I share. :)
